2014 Hyundai Fluidic Verna 1.6 SX CRDi - My White Viper!
It's been some time since last I had update about my White Viper.
Let's go by sequence of events :
22 Feb 2014 - Hit to rear bumper.
It was the day when my Verna had completed 6 months. Wished her for completing 6 months. Sat in my car and was about to exit my building when I saw another car entering the
gate. As a good will gesture, I thought I will give way to the other car first and then I will proceed. So started reversing the car. The other car was playing pretty loud
music and that made me some how distracted, and I straight on banged my car at the compound wall(in spite of having reverse camera and sensors). Felt bad and angry on myself
for being carelessness. The left side of rear bumper took the hit. Went to Trident Hyundai to estimate the damage. The SA told whole rear bumper needs replacement and left quarter
panel needs to repainted (as it got a very small dent). Total cost would be 12000 INR. I somehow felt the damage was not that much to be worth 12K. Came home. Fixed the bumper in
place with little bit of force. Use my com-paint filler to fill the paint peel. Now the damage is hardly visible from distance.
15 March 2014 - Took my Viper to Ooty
It was a long weekend with 17 being a holiday for Holi. At the last moment, I and my wife decided to go for a long trip. So decided to go to Ooty the previous night.
Booked the hotel room online and started early morning to Ooty. The drive very pleasant and I hardly felt any fatigue after driving 370 KMs non stop. Though I felt my car
was gasping for air during steep climb through 36 hair pin turns to Ooty(Not sure why I felt loss of power), but overall experience was A one. I will update more about my journey in a
separate thread.
29 March 2014 - Viper got new seat covers
The polythene seat cover almost completed 7 months with my viper. My wife told straight on my face, she wont sit in the car, if I continue to use the polythene covers.
I realized it's been more that half a year and still having the company polythene. It not only looked bad also was not making our drive a pleasant experience. The only
reason for me to avoid getting a after market seat cover mainly due to the worry of not getting an OEM standard fit and finish. But now water was above the nose,
I had to get a new seat cover. So went to Trident Hyundai, Kalyan Nagar and asked to for OEM seat covers. They told they do not have OEM seat covers but they can provide
quality seat covers with original looking fit and finish. It would cost 8500 INR. I had no choice but agreed. Also I had to do the second term of 3M Teflon coating( I
had purchased the 3M Teflon Coating package with 3 service, when I bought my car). I dropped my car and came around evening to pick her. All polythene were gone and
my viper was gleaming with new art leather seat covers. Hmm.. not bad. Quite happy with the outcome (Head rest fit and finish are not good enough though). Let's see how will be the quality.
Pic 1 shows the damage bumper after I applied com-fill filler and fix the bumper myself. Other pictures depicts the new seat covers.
