Last month, got new shoes for my Peppy Pot. (Ownership).

Opted for upsized CC5 (185/65 R14), from the earlier change of 175/65 XM2. Here are my takes after an elaborate drive (Pune to Pune ~ 3900kms) down south, covering Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamilnadu a little bit.

- upsize definitely works well with Brio, and a boost of 10mm is a win win situation on broken roads
- fantastic wet grip
- overall FE may have reduced by a km, but aint keeping track of it any longer
- had hit a few pot holes real hard, took the brunt well without any uncalled situation
- felt a bit stiffer compared to XM2, but overall, a [:D] traveler

Can i get the bucks per tyre ? Did you change the rims\alloys too ?

Hey guys,

I am looking for an upsize on my brio babe too. It's 40k on the ODO now and the stock goodyear tyres(175/65/R14) have lasted the entire journey.

I am looking for a tyre that would improve the ride quality, help improve the noise levels. I dont keep much of an eye on FE either. So, it would be the comfort (ride and noise) which tops my priority list. The tyres should be able to handle the typical "INDIAN" roads. Please consider the location in my profile also[embarass]

My choices for now are the Yoko's and the continentals. (Earth 1 or S-drive or C-drive in Yokohama ? Please help !!!) Any particular model suggestions are highly appreciated.

How are the Hankook tyres ? Anyone?

Would someone please help me with the proper tyre upsize. I am looking for 195/60. Should i stick to 14'' or 15'' would be better?

P.S I am not looking at michelins

Contacted my tyre dealer for the prices of 195/60R15.The Michelin XM2 are available for ₹6k whereas Michelin P3ST costs ₹6.4k(bought it for ₹5.9k 3.5 years ago for Vento).Contiental MC5 costs ₹5.4k whereas Yokohama S-Drives costs ₹5.2k and Earth 1 costs ₹5k along with WA and WB for ₹800.

Which tyre is best?Im more interested in Conti MC5,Yoko S-Drives and Earth 1.

The car is mostly driven by driver(sometimes myself,Mom and dad will drive the car too) on bad roads and need comfort oriented tyres and not keen on speed oriented tyres as it is driven sedately and spiritually in rare cases and it should last around 40-50k Kms.

@MS, S drive & PST Michelin are comfortable & asymmetrical, good for hard cornering.I don't remember about MC5.
Do post UTQG, ply composition, E label of all the tyres.
For sedate driving, go for Earth 1, symmetrical & comfortable.

I currently have 165/70-R14 MRF ZVTV tires on my Celerio ZXI AMT and they have covered 33,000 km. Recently I found out that they are losing shape and would flatten in 2-3000km.
I am planning for a size upgrade and preferred brand is Yokohama Earth 1.
My query is whether I should go for 175/70-R14 or 185/65-R14.
My friend suggests 185 but I don’t want steering to become too heavy as my father would start using it shortly.

All the Experts and Gurus in the Forum, please do give me your suggestion / views as regards replacing all the 4 tyres of my Maruti 800 DX car of 1998.

I did change 2 tyres in 2006 and another 2 tyres in 2007 after clocking about 33000 and 38000 kms respectively. My movement is very less in the past 4 yrs or so, about 1200 - 1500 per Annum and in city drive only and I don't go out on highway now a days due to my old age. The Total Kms is now 55000 in these 19 1/2 yrs.

In these 10-11 yrs though the tyres have become harder, not a single puncture in these Bridgestone Tube type Tyres of Stock size. I know it is high time I have to replace all these 4 tyres and will do next week.

in these 5-6 months I did spend about Rs 27000 for Engine Oil flush, spark plugs and point condenser, Timing Belt, Fuel - oil - and Air Filer, Rear brake drum and few other parts replacement etc, Then Antirust Underbody and cabin coating with primer as well as Tufkote coating though there was no rusting at all except at a couple of points at the bottom, Engine bay cleaning, change of Coolant, Replacement of Front Bumper, replacement of Head Lights , Carburetor Overhauling by replacing few parts and last week putting the AC back in use by N2 Flushing - vacuum check up, top up of Compressor oil and using Dupoint M 49 gas in place of R12 gas etc.

I have few questions to ask here as regards replacing my all the 4 tyres.
1) stock size is not available in Michelin and Bridgestone. However 145/80R12 is available and the well known tyre dealer says there is no need to go for Alloy Rims but Steel rims could be used but may have to replace them with new steel rims if they are rusted or bent which could be known only after proper check up.
2) If I go for 145/80 size, will it scrap anywhere? can it be fitted in dicky?
3) The next brand is Good year or Firestone tubeless which is available in stock size. the report of Good year tyres is not good. Firestone is new in the Indian Market and since 2 yrs they are trying to promote their brand by keeping reasonable price. Firestone is taken over by Bridgestone world wide ( ?). Anybody used Firestone Tubeless tyres, and if so, what is the experience?

Appreciate quick response from experts here.
Thanks in Advance.

Though I maintained my car well to the best of my ability, I happened to come across TAI web site in the month of April 2017 and took interest to go through the Threads that too after doing Engine oil flushing etc during last week of March 2017. So thereafter words I went on taking more interest in keeping my car more and more cleaner and spent about Rs 27000 in these 6- 7 months, plus Rs 10117 today for all the 4 nos Tyres Replacement, such as :
- Engine oil Flushing by Wurth and changing the Engine oil from 20w40 to 20w50 Shell, change of Spark plugs, point condenser, oil filter, fuel filer, change of fan belt, Timing Belt, Brake Cylinder etc etc costing about Rs 6000.
- Replacement of Rear Bumper, Replacement of Head lights, steering overhaul etc costing about Rs 2500
- Replacement of Battery tray costing about Rs 500 in May 2017
- 3rd party Insurance of Rs 2536 in May 2017
- Big task of under body Anti rust coating with primer as well as Tufkote by spending about Rs 4200.One can go through the trouble I had to undergo in the Thread – Antirust under body coating with detailed report and photos for the benefit of others.
- Replacement of Bosch wiper, some plastic loops for wheel caps Rs 550 in May 2015
- Buying of extra Door mats, car perfume, Windscreen cleaner, Car Polish, car shampoo etc from Amazon in June 2017 costing about Rs 1500
- Replacement of both Rear Shock Absorbers costing about Rs 2000 in June 2017,
- Changing Coolant , Engine Bay Compartment cleaning etc costing about Rs 2000 in June 2017
- Carburettor Overhauling in July 2017 costing about Rs 1700
All the parts were from MGP only and not any local / duplicate items.
- Putting AC in to operation after 8-9 years, without going in for new kit for 134a Gas costing about Rs 7000 but got the work done by an expert by N2 flushing, vacuum check up, compressor oil top up and charging with Dupoint M - 49 gas which is better than earlier R12 gas, The Total cost was Rs 2200.
Important Issue which was pending : Replacement of all the 4 tyres.
Background : 2 Nos of stock Tyres of MRF were replaced in March 2006 by 2 Nos Bridge stone tube Type Radial Tyres, each costing Rs 1250 at 33800 kms. Remaining 2 Nos Stock MRF Tyres were replaced in November 2007 by 2 Nos Bridgestone tube type Radial Tyres, each costing Rs 1525 each at 38890 kms. The Wheel Alignment as well as Wheel Balancing was done each time.
Call it my ignorance that I never changed my 4 tyres of Bridgestone for 10/11 yrs as there was not a single puncture in these 11 yrs. The Stepney also remanded idle for 11 yrs in my Dicky. Honestly I FORGOT how to change the tyre in case of any tube punctures but sure of getting help from some youngsters, if at all, it happened. Of course at every 5000 kms, I got the Wheel Alignment as well as Wheel Balancing done. Added to that my car usage was hardly 1000 to 1200 kms in the past 4 years.
I came to know from many members that I have to change my tyres and it is the high time for my own safety. So few exchange of messages took place with members from May 2017 onwards. However I kept the replacement of tyres pending and wanted to take care of this issue after doing all the above issues. So I did post some queries last week as regards tyre replacement and never got any reply from any experts or any members, except getting friendly tips from dear Harsh from Gujarat and Silver-Dove from Mumbai this morning which I could read this afternoon only. Thank you dear Harsh and Silver – Dove for your honest tips / suggestions / feed back.
I had 4 choices – Go for Michelin 145/80/R12 Tubeless each costing each Rs 3100 . 2nd Choice was Bridgestone Turanza 145/80 R 12 Er60 Tubeless each costing Rs 3240 each. 3rd choice was Goodyear Duraco Hi Miler 145/70 R 12 each costing Rs 2700. 4th Choice was Firestone 145/70R12 FR500 each costing Rs 2300.
I gave lot of thoughts, because the scaring thought in my mind was that if at all I have to change all the 4 Rims, add another Rs 4000. On opening and after thorough checking it was found that the stock Steel Rims are in good shape, no rusting, no bend anywhere. Also the usage of my car is mainly limited to city drive and seldom Highway drive. So I took a calculated risk and decided to go for Firestone Tyres today 29th October 2017 at 55,086 kms. The manufacturing date is July 2017, 2 tyres are just 14 weeks old and 2 tyres are 15 weeks old. The Total cost is Rs 10,117. I have kept one best tube type Bridgestone Tyre as Stepney.
4 Nos Firestone FR 500 tyres = Rs 9200
Wheel Alignment = Rs 200
Wheel Balancing = Rs 160
Tyre Changing service = Rs 40
N2 Filling = Rs 200 ( This seems to be high because at petrol pump we get it free if we fill up the petrol there)
8 plastic Loops for Wheel caps Rs 40
4 nos Tyre Necks( Nipples) - Rs 200
Balancing of old Tyre - Rs 77
Grand Total = Rs 10117
Photos 1 and 2 shows the Bill, next photo shows Tyre pattern and my car. Of course got a gift item of Firestone – Headphone.

Go for CC5 bro (CC6 if launched and available in India). 185/65 would be ideal for Brio.

185/60 R15, tyre replacement once again on agenda.

Thanks for the inputs.

I would say so, as on long trips with full day driving, there are many places where the tarmac is amazing (Golden Quadrilateral roads) and it is easy to go into a subtle corner at >120 kmph.
For this asymmetricals like Xm2, cc5, ER 300 are best.
I am sold on the Turanza (as you suggested AR20 over the ER60)

Yes noise and cornering are somewhat important, but not before durability, ride quality and grip.
If hard cornering is not very important AR 20 should be best.

Anyways, what did you finalised?
** ***

My CC5 have run 40k km now. overall satisfied for the affordable amount spent on them however its drawback of passing the information of small undulating road surfaces to the cabin is back since last 10 kkm. There is lot of tread left, enough to last 5 kkm more, but one of the tire is suffering from a big puncture which is partly repaired and keeps leaking air despite application of internal patch. Now the puncture shop guys asking to install a tube and then run the tyre.
The tube cost ₹500 and I expect five six punctures more during the last 5 k km on other tyres (₹600),
So far tyres have run 40 kkm, & IIRC they cost me ₹16000 for four tyres.
So running cost is 30 paise /km. So for the last 4 kkm, it would be ₹1500,

Finally if I decide to sacrifice the last 5kkm life of the tires, it would be loss of hardly ₹ 500 to 1000.

Hence, decided to replace them all four.
Are there new premium additions in the size 185/60 R15?

Got to see Pirelli cinte verde (Asymmetrical) in 185/60R15 today.
UTQG :
Treadwear: 420
Traction :A
Temp :A rps20180320_202115.jpg rps20180320_202019.jpg

Ply composition :
Tread : 2 steel, 2 polyester, 1Nylon.
Sidewall : 2 polyester.

He quoted ₹5100/tyre, it was suspicious as I was expecting more than ₹7500. I saw & confirmed it was manufactured in 40th week of 2016. Hence refused. Also read on other forum that this pirelli gives somewhat hard ride quality.

I have now started looking for Bridgestone Turanza ER 300, but not getting to see it.

Changed her tyres to 195/60R15 Yokohama S-Drives today. It costed me ₹5300 per tyre.

Finally. installed Bridgestone ER300. ₹5200 /tire.

My only grouse against CC5 was that it use to pass details of smallest visible irregularities on the road to the cabin. With ER 300( manufactured in 7 th week of 2018) this problem seems to be decreed by 80%.

So far ran 40 km.

So far ran 300 km, happy with new BS ER300 engulfs all mild to moderate irregularities on the road.
SUPPLE RIDE QUALITY though there is little bit lack of precision during hard cornering as compared to CC5. Still better than apollo alnacs. rps20180329_001035.jpg

Manufacturing date code is 0718.

Michelin primacy ST vs Bridgestone Turanza ER 300 :Tyre comparison

My Fiat Avventura is fitted with Michelin primacy ST & I got opportunity to compare the Bridgestone Turanza ER300 fitted on Skoda Rapid with them.

Primacy ST are better on comfort front while handling at high speed (especially precision while hard cornering) is a notch bellow ER300.
