Finally it is CC5 for me.

Michelin Xm2 : rejected for the more numbers of bulges /cuts on the sidewall reviews on internet as compared to other brands.

Earth1 : rejected for lack of transparency on the part of manufacturer. Online user reviews can't be relied upon fully as they are different for different sizes, speed & Load indices and the driving style.

GY ATM : rejected as there wasn't worldly difference between treadlife of stock tyres. Also lack of knowledge on fuel efficiency figures.

Bridgestone ER300 : rejected for F ratings for FE for other sizes & indices. If at all my particular size had a better rating why they are not selling it abroad?

Bridgestones B 290 : rejected for lack of transparency .

CC5 fulfilled most of my requirements.
Also additional benefit of FE offered by Michelin is negated by the low price of the CC5.

1)6 Ply tread likely to be sturdiest as far as cuts & bulges

2) asymmetrical pattern good for hard cornering.

3)Presence of polyamide and absence of pure nylon will offer better comfort & avoid flat spotting.

4) Tread life substantially better than stock tyres.

5) I liked the looks too.
My personal experience of tyres on Santro Xing and Maruti Dzire.

Santro Initially came with Apollo acelere 155/70/R13 Very noisy and bumpy too swapped it with Michelin XM1 in 2010 155/70/R13. drove good for 50K+ figure with 1 or 2 puncture in all and no bulges. Used with stock rims and Nitrogen in all 5 tyres.

Second Santro which I am currently using came with Good Year with defected tyre which was detected 3 months after buying (as it was 5th wheel) vehicle and Company refused to change it. finally drove them for 40K then swapped with Yokohama Earth 1 on stock rims 165/65/R13, all running on Nitrogen, so far no puncture, no bulging, significantly reduced noise, smooth drive. FE same. my calculation is (negative due to tyre upgrade = Positive due to Nitrogen). Best part comes with Replacement for Cuts or tyre burst for first 1 year or 20000 kms which ever occurs first (as per dealer).

Dzire running on All Michelin XM2 25K+ kms done absolutely no complaints only one puncture till now, vehicle is mainly used on rough and village kind roads.

We too have used two sets of michelin Xm2 on our WAGONR without any complaints, but it was driven most of the time by father who is a caring driver.
For my fast and furious driving style(prone for sidewall cut) , XM2 were not fit hence opted for something else.

I'm using CC5 on my Vento TSI and they are great in dry and wet.

Dry and wet braking inspires so much confidence.

Great in cornering and mid corner turn-in. Overall a good choice.

I see the car gliding over patches and undulations when compared to Good year I had with the car.

Though the grip levels are satisfactory, I do hear squeal of the rubber around corners under heavy braking.

The rolling resistance seems lower than many makers and overall a satisfactory experience.

Dear Tornado,
I was referred here by cracing and nice to know about your story with CC5.

I bought a pre owned Honda city that had 75K in the odo. I drove for a month in it and I found it to be too noisy and less rode comfort after 100kmph. It is currently running on xm2.

So I went to one of the tyre ship nearby which had good recommendations in Google. I went to up size 195/65r15 from current 175/65r15. I directly looked for 3St tyres.

But the shop owner who seems to know what he is talking about, said 195/60 is recommend upsize(just as most tbhpians suggest) and also told me to go for conti mc5 rather than 3st. Price wise also its 700 less than 3st for each tyre..

I researched as much as possible but not able to conclude if I've to go for Michelin or Conti. Need your guidance.

I drive for 30km to work and take a monthly or bi monthly weekends travel to nearby cities. I am an average driver who grabs opportunities for over taking, while during other time I follow previous cars if there are doubtful space for overtake..

My preference is comfort, which includes less noise as I prefer to take my family (5 including me) during weekend and I don't want them to bother much and also added ground clearance, again focusing on comfort while taking speed breakers.

Have a plan to change my Apollo Tyres as it's bad to something else. I did had a view of the thread about CC5 from Tornado.

Appreciate suggestion on going ahead with CC5 or Bridgestone B290 or Goodyear Assurance ?

Amongst 3, CC5 is better anyday. But first 5 kkm ride quality on 'rough patches' on highways was bit harsh, Michelin 3ST, Yoko Earth 1 are better on this issue.

After 15000km on CC5, I can say that they are good tyres, Ruggedness, tread life, comfort and cornering are good points however they on rough patches the undulations are felt inside.

Go for Michelin. I am using CC5 for the past 7000 kms.. Its good on smooth highways, but too harsh on undulated roads. Heard Michelin is good in this aspect. Other than that CC5 is good...

Go through http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...ply-composition-e-markings-eu-label-utqg.html
And post the UTQG of your good year here.

For your requirements, I would suggest Yoko earth 1.

Xm2 are not pothole friendly, known for sidewall bulges.

Agreed, however the harshness will disappear after 10 k km.

yes, they are.

Michellins are very puncture prone and unfriendly to bad roads. I've suffered a lot before i literally threw them out.

Earth 1s are much better in all regards.
