yesterday I got pulled over for driving without seat belt, which is mandatory to wear in Bangalore, just about 100 metres after starting to drive & when I was just about to put it ON! To add to my fine the cop pulled out a blackberry phone & keyed in my car number to pull out a previous violation dated 2011 on a date & time & place in Blore which I almost never visited till date. Obviously there was no proof except what the blackberry showed me. ended up paying Rs 100 for no seat belt & Rs400 for the previous violation which was booked as RECKLESS driving[surprise] to my surprise !!! (Total Rs500)[cry]... I am pretty sure I have been erroneously fined because I never drive RASH , Is there anyway I can easily ask for more info/proof/photos/videos or simple re-examination of the case without running from pillar to post & end up spending even more money & time?! or is it just wise to forget it... Bangloreans, your opinion/input please!

I could only find this below which seems to be too much effort & seems designed to avoid people from using this option!
Wrong traffic ticket? BTP issues guidelines. : bcity

Its not only rash driving. In Bangalore, I've noticed, people start moving even before the signal turns green. As soon as you move in red, the traffic camera flashes and your number is noted.

Well that would amount to jumping a red signal at most ! No#20 on the list below! Fine = Rs 100!

The problem with booking for reckless driving it is difficult to argue either way for something that occurred in the past & difficult to prove unless they have a proper video!

I saw the whole episode and was really disappointed to see those bus,car-drivers driving recklessly in the ghats, on top of that they keep [anger] expression as though we committed a sin!

One thing i appreciate these drivers is they are calm, makes every turns with careful planning, not always but good in enough in a place like Rohtang.

Who authorized this foreigner to drive a heavy commercial vehicle in india?
Do the transport commissioner issue a badge for a foreigner to drive a commercial heavy vehicle in india?
This guy is putting his and the others life in danger, the guy sitting next to him is the original driver i guess if yes he has to be charged for allowing that foreigner without having a valid license to drive that bus.
People here are used to the transport and had developed a special skill with experience on these roads.
This guy is more dangerous on these roads as he is only used of a single way traffic.

I agree that people out here is rash and senseless on driving but this guy on the driving seat do not have any right to complain or for using these bad words on others.

That's my view, i do not think all will agree.

I would like to add another point to the thread,
A foreigner without a valid heavy license, driving a bus on indian roads.
I do not think it is possible in any other roads other than in indian roads.

Oh My GOD ! That was a good one from you.

. You mean to say, only those drive in that stretch can drive thru these roads?

This video is showing the reckless driving in India. Since you saw a foreigner, you raise these kind of questions. Who knows whether the bus driver/car drivers got license or not.

In order to drive a commercial heavy vehicle he must posses a badge renewed every 3 years,
to attain this badge he must posses a valid indian heavy license for atleast for an year,
and as per my knowledge it is not issued to a foreigner(tourist)
This guy without having a valid license, on the driver seat do not have the right to Criticize us.

We have seen these over takes commonly in every high ranges.
The speed may be below 40kmph.
This guy is not used of it.

Appu let us take it this way if we have a good driving experience in india then we can drive at any where in the world.

@vishwas

Brother the rally's are performed by experienced professionals on isolated tracks.
In our day to day life we are experiencing and developing our rally skills on indian roads.
The guy left to the foreigner, the original driver(may be)if he was allowed to drive then he would have drove like this too.
we are used of this, that guy is screaming because he is seeing it for the first time.

@alex,

Badge is required for the vehicles carrying passengers only. Heavy licence is renewed every 3 years and Badge every year.

AND for the DL to drive in INDIA, we have a system called International DL (I dont know the correct term). This DL will allow the holder to drive in foreign countries for a certain period of time before applying for a DL at that place. I am not aware if its applicable for Heavy license also.

Badge is required to drive a commercial(yellow board in india) vehicle whether passenger(bus/taxi cab/auto)or a goods carrier.

A DL issued to a foreigner is to drive a private vehicle(white board)only.
A license carrying a badge whether Auto, car or heavy is renewed every 3 years and
our common LMV is renewed after 20 years and then extended to another 5 years till the license holder's age reach 60.

@ Alex,

well your post put me in a confused state. I asked the people in the know regarding this.

The HMV licence (or any yellow board) requires a badge only it it carries passengers. GOODS CARRIERS dont require badge. AND you are right, badge or no badge, HMV DL is renewed every 3 years.

AS per my knowledege regarding Internatinol DL (dont know the exact term), If I apply for IDL, and I am holder of HMVDL, then I can drive a HMV in a foreign soil till a certain time (3 months I guess) before I apply for the proper licence. It is applicable for a foreign national in Indian soil as well (IDL is issued by his local transport authority).

Brother you can drive a private registered bus or truck with your license but not the commercial one.
You need a badge back here to drive a commercial vehicle if it is even an auto.
Actually the renewal is on the badge,a person holding a valid indian license with a badge can drive a private registered vehicle even after 3 years(after the badge expires) till the license expires.

Appus, let us take it this way if we have a good driving experience in india then we can drive at any where in the world.
I too say the same to many. But, if you try to get license in other countries, then it would be difficult. They do not look at your expertise in cornering/wheeling/cutting roads etc. They look how you behave on roads.

I didn't have any experience of driving in India. But, I got my license in Texas on very first attempt. Another friend of mine who was 'over confident' failed at first attempt. They start with 100 marks and reduce when you do mistakes.

You need to have an eye on all the three mirrors. you need to turn your head while reversing and look at mirror etc. We need to give an exam to qualify for the test. If these drivers go there, they say 'i will do it, don't teach me how' [lol]

I agree on the part that he is relatively new to our roads and he's surprised because he's not used to see such kind of behaviour, but what do you say for the morons who drove opposite in that videos recklessly? What i mean here is, let us leave him alone, when driving in ghats, no matter how much experience you got, you should drive slowly.
