Re: The Mighty Mitsubishi Pajero Sport Drives In [12K Kms Crossed]

Congrats Soorya and Welcome Vijayvm!

I had a brief drive of the AT and i liked, paddle shifters worked really well - If i buy a AT i would be addicted to paddle shifters [:D]

Btw in my short trysts i found a few differences amidst the other mentioned ones :-

1) Rear brakes are drum (and not disc) - please check these as i couldn't do a detailed test and quantify differences.
2) Middle row is not slideable anymore in AT - I cant believe they removed this feature, this gives a lot of flexibility in space management.

Sorry been keeping very busy, my third service is done will update details later.

Oh my god, then i need to scrap my purchase plans... i stopped my XUV 5OO purchase for same reason that there is no middle row seat adjustment. Whether i have to stop Pajero sport purchase for the same reason.. i pray that its an observation error [cry]

Do i need to stop thinking about Pajero Sport and dreaming about Ford Endeavor now ?

Middle row seat adjustment is available in Fortuner 4x2AT. No doubt. Take a test drive of Fortuner 4x2AT.

I think Mitsubishi is now following Mahindra [;)].
XUV500 & Rexton neither have middle row sliding [frustration]

@dhoom9 sir many many happy returns of the day.

@vijayvm cmon sir a sliding seat cannot be a reason for rejection, but seriously I know someone too who is trying to find a solution to this - I gave him some pointers, we live in a country of jhugaads don't worry we will find one here too[;)]

If seat space is higher priority please look at fortuner too as Mathew Sirji suggested

The middle row can be made "slideable" with a small adjustment which will need a couple of hours at a good tinkerer.

@Iron Rock, Thanks for your thoughts. I was told by Bangalore dealer Sales person that they removed "Seat adjustment feature" in 2nd row because its giving rattling noise in highways... Strange answer. Where Mitsubishi has some strengths they should leverage it. This appear to be very small feature, but in country of people movers this is very important feature.. Hindustan Motors and Mitsubishi need to restore this immediately not to some sales from their poor sales already !

@Iron Rock and other PS owners- is there an upper limit to to driving in 4WD mode or switching between 4WD and 2WD mode . I am planning to take my PS for a first long drive later this month towards Karwar from Bangalore.

What i read from the reviews, up to 100KMs you can change 4WD to 2WD and vice versa on the fly. i believe this is the unique feature of Pajero sport.

"Mitsubishi 4WD System
The Triton’s Easy Select 4WD and Pajero Sport’s Super Select 4WD system offer multi modes for all situations. 2H is for maximising efficiency on tarmac driving while 4H spreads drive 50:50 to all four wheels for more secure traction in slippery conditions. Drivers can switch between this two modes “on the fly” at speeds of up to 100 km/h.

When the going gets tough, there’s 4L mode in the Triton to tackle rough terrain. In this mode, 4WD joined by low range gears for maximum traction through mud or sand. The Pajero Sport’s Super Select 4WD system has two all wheel drive modes – 4HLc and 4LLc, the latter utilises low range gearing and locking differentials. Both models come with Hybrid LSD (Limited Slip Differential), which combines the torque-sensing benefit of helical gears and a speed-sensing benefit of a viscous coupling unit."

Thanks. Any experience with driving for long distance continuously for few hundred Kms on 4H? Is it recommended? I my short stints, I like the control that 4H gives on the highway.

Two things.

1. I have driven for more than 500km on 4H but at speeds below and upto 100kmph. You ideally do not need to, and should not drive above that in 4H.

2. It is not recommended for speeds above 100kmph unless it is a necessity. Technically speaking, you can drive in it for as long as you want do, till the top speed of the vehicle.
Would I do it? NO.

Got it. As I understood, changing from 2H to 4H below 100- also prescribed by manufacturer.

Chetak- what issue would you see being on 4H , lets say 100-120 kmph?
