Land Rover recalls Range Rovers over Suspension dangers

Nearly 17,000 Land Rover Range Rovers are recalled because the front suspension upper knuckle joints may crack and cause the suspension arms to detach. The recalled 2014-2016 Range Rovers can suffer steering and stability problems if the suspension arms detach.

A problem occurred in 2019 when a Range Rover suffered from a front suspension knuckle failure at low speed. More incidents occurred and Transport Canada contacted Land Rover because of similar reports in Canada.Engineers determined the use of road salt significantly contributes to knuckle failures.

Land Rover is aware of 12 claims in the past nine years, but no reports of crashes or injuries. Land Rover dealers will inspect the front suspension knuckles and install retaining brackets, or possibly replace the knuckles.

Owner recall letters are expected to be mailed January 3, 2025, but Range Rover owners with questions may call 800-637-6837. Land Rover's number for this recall is N759.

200,000 Honda Pilot and Passport SUVs recalled for fuel leak issue

In documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Honda has announced it's recalling 205,760 of its Pilot and Passport SUVs to fix a problem that could cause fuel leakage. The problem, which Honda describes as lack of "fuel system integrity," affects vehicles built between February 14, 2023, and May 8, 2024.

The recall report explains that the SUVs manufactured during that time may have an incomplete connection between the fuel filler pipe and neck tube, meaning they could separate in the event of a crash and potentially leak fuel. Honda blames "an out-of-sequence process" during the assembly's installation process, which has since been corrected, and says only about 1 percent of the recalled vehicles are expected to have the problem.

Honda said it has received only one warranty claim and no reports of injuries as a result of the problem. Recall notices will be mailed to owners on January 6, 2025, and the issue will be repaired free of charge. In the meantime, owners who want to find out if their vehicle is affected can check the NHTSA recalls site or Honda's own recalls website.

Ram recalls 317,000 HD Pickups for ABS failure amid surge of Brake problems

A Ram hydraulic control unit (HCU) recall involves more than 317,000 trucks with anti-lock brake systems (ABS), electronic stability control (ESC) systems and traction control systems that may fail.

The Ram HCU recall includes these trucks:

  • 2017-2018 Ram 2500 Pickup
  • 2017-2018 Ram 3500 Pickup
  • 2017-2018 Ram 3500 Chassis Cab
  • 2017-2018 Ram 4500
  • 2017-2018 Ram 5500 Chassis Cab
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opened a federal Ram truck braking investigation in November 2022 following problems with the hydraulic control units and anti-lock brake systems. Chrysler was asked to provide information about 2017-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks.

Then in October 2024, Fiat Chrysler opened its own investigation into 2017-2018 Ram 2500, 3500, 4500 and 5500 trucks built with hydraulic control unit anti-lock brake systems that were failing.

"As of November 18, 2024, FCA US is aware of 4,622 customer assistance records, 53,448 warranty claims, and 1,460 field reports potentially relating to this issue for all markets with dates of receipt ranging from November 1, 2016, to March 5, 2024." — FCA
A Ram driver will see a warning light if the ABS motor fails.

FCA will mail Ram HCU recall letters January 9, 2025, and dealers will replace the brake hydraulic control units.

Ram truck owners may contact FCA at 800-853-1403 and ask about Ram HCU recall number C4B.

Tire company recalling more than half a million tires for lacking snow traction

A global tire company that sells replacement winter tires is recalling more than 541,000 of them in the U.S. because they don't have enough snow traction to meet North American standards.

Prinx Chengshan Tire North America, a subsidiary of the international Chengshan Group Co., Ltd., is recalling more than 100 sizes of Fortune Tormenta and Prinx Hicountry tires. The tires have three-peak mountain snowflake symbols on the sidewalls, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

The company says in documents posted Tuesday by the NHTSA that the tires passed European tests but likely would not meet traction standards in North America.

The safety agency says tires without sufficient snow traction can increase the risk of a crash.

Prinx Chengshan is working on a way to fix the problem. Owners will be notified by letter starting Feb. 1. Those with questions can call the company at 310-205-8355, extension 109.

Tesla recalls nearly 700,000 vehicles over tire pressure light issue

Tesla has issued a recall for nearly 700,000 vehicles due to a tire pressure light issue.

The electric car company is recalling certain 2024 Cybertruck, 2017-2025 Model 3 and 2020-2025 Model Y vehicles because the tire pressure monitoring system warning light “may not remain illuminated between drive cycles, failing to warn the driver of low tire pressure,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said Thursday.

The NHTSA released its safety recall report Tuesday, noting that “driving with improperly inflated tires increases the risk of a crash.”

The recall affects around 694,000 vehicles.

Tesla said as a remedy it released an over-the-air software update for free. Owner notification letters are expected be mailed on Feb. 15, 2025.

Jeep recalling 79,000 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokees and Wagoneers for Rearview Camera problems

A Jeep backup camera recall affects more than 86,000 model year 2024 Jeep Wagoneer, Jeep Grand Wagoneer, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee L vehicles.

Like so many recalls in 2024, this one is caused by software problems, specifically in the Jeep backup camera modules. The problem causes rearview camera image failures.

In July, engineers noticed rearview camera failures on the Jeep vehicles. In addition to making backing up a bit more difficult for a driver, the camera failures violate federal safety standards. More than 7,000 of the Jeeps are recalled in Canada.

FCA dealers will update the backup camera module software after Jeep recall letters are mailed January 21, 2025. Jeep owners may call Chrysler at 800-853-1403 and ask about backup camera recall number D5B.

Separately, Fiat Chrysler is recalling about 300 Mopar rearview camera modules with part numbers 68598674AF, 68617886AD and 68617887AD.

Dealers will update the rearview camera module software, but cameras that have not been installed on vehicles will be repurchased.
