Another person in this forum who wanted to start a debate on Sony posted this link

It is whether you want to buy DSLR or Hybrid ones. Less availability of lenses (either on rental or online). You need converter to use other lens. If you want to use converter and use some other manufacturer's lens, what is the fun in owning a different brand camera. The professional DSLR from sony costs 70K +

Bullet or Tata-Nano ? Nano got full cover on your body from rain, 4-5 people can sit. Almost same mileage. Some still prefers bullet than owning a Nano. Some like to own Nano than bullet.

D90 is outdated and you may not find the same in market. D7000 replaced D90 , D7100 is in market replacing D7000.

I just shared my views. It is no where a suggestion.
If you are going for DSLR and ready to spend money,
buy one with metering display. Buy one with a good body which can withstand bit of rain too.

All the best for your purchase !
Hi,
Planning to buy a DSLR. Now debating between Nikon D7000 & D7100. Knowing 7100 is superior and cost almost 26,000.00 more in flipcart. Wondering whether to buy 7000 and then pick up some prime lenses with the money saved or just go for 7100(this I can not go wrong I suppose). I am mostly a travel photographer. Do my usage will help or require this high end 7001? At present using canon bridge camera sx50 and also no of p&S cameras.
Experts guidance please. Does Flipcart or Amazon gives same warranty of 2 years from Nikon?
Thanks n regards.

hey subrata, well the d7100 offers more resolution over the d7000(24 megapixels for the d7100 and 16 for the d7000) as well as nikon has removed the optical low pass filter which does provide sharper details, as stated by appus the d7100 is weather sealed it can take a slight drizzle provided you use lens which are weather sealed. Also the cam features a 1/3 crop mode.
These were the points that made me go buy the d7100. There was a thing last year where in nikon stated they are not their authorized reseller, they however do provide two years warranty on the camera and 2 years international on the lens.
What i could advise you is that you take the body only of which ever you plan to buy and then get a Tamaron 17-50mm 2.8 lens, its pretty sharp and awesome low light capabilities just one honest feedback from being a d7100 user in low lights keep the iso down make do with shutter speeds and aperture or else the image is noisy say above 1200 iso there is slight noise which i think it gives a good look to the image but over 2000 it gets annoying for me at least.
To answer your question i would advise you to get a d5300 or d3200 since i guess you are new to dslrs and buy a good fast lens. The day when you feel limited by the camera is the day to consider an upgrade.

Hello Nickandre,
Thank you for your comments and advice.
I have been in photography for quite some time using SLR (Nikon FM2 ) as such I do not think the DSLR controls of advanced models will be an issue. Your suggestion to get 17 -50 mm 2.8.lens most appreciated. Attached one photo taken by canon SX50 hand held (1/160) at full zoom (equivalent 1200mm),iso100 for your comments pls.

wow! Thats a real good picture mate. Terribly sorry i though you were new to slrs :stupid:Well you should go in for d7100 Its my one purchase that I am very happy of, I use it for my films as well as photography.
I will suggest you a few lenses with their costs which i found make the d7100 perform even better.

Tamaron 17-50 f2.8 38-42k (auto focus with image stabilization)
Tokina 11-16mm f2.8 39-45k (auto focus with no image stabilization)
Nikkor 35mm 1.8g 7-12k (auto focus with no image stabilization)
Nikkor 85mm 1.8g 30-34k (auto focus with no image stabilization) so far the sharpest lens with amazingly smooth bokeh (its my favorite portrait lens.)
For telephoto Tamaron af70-200mm f/2,8 di ld 45k great lens and has macro capabilities.

There are better lenses then these but they cost around a lakh.

Thanks a lot for excellent suggestions on lenses.
Now you have put me in the circle again. I had almost made up my mind on D7000. Will rest a few days and then give my final call. I am not a photographer who goes extra mile for his shots. Hence the dilemma. Thanks again.

Well i suggested a couple of my friends who had a good budget and were new to dslrs to go for D7000 as they would not benefit from the difference. Im sure you would with the better sensor and weather seal as well as a better display.

Many thanks for your confidence on me.[:D]
Now the balance has tilted and most likely in the first week of June will pick up the camera. One more advice please "Should I order on amazon or get it from the local authorized dealer. Amazon is cheaper by about Rs.4000.00. I am concern about the warranty. The NIKON show room personnel stated that NIKON does not give warranty to the online purchases. Not sure how true is that.

well if you ask me i would go to the store pay them check the camera and get out with a smile rather then wait for a few days and then if unfortunately there is an issue then more time gone to send it back for replacement. I am not sure but nikon had issued notices about a few online dealers who are not authorized by nikon to sell. If you were in mumbai i would have asked you to check with the guy i buy my equipment from he is authorized and when i brought the camera gave me a better price then the online stores and yes i do have a 2 year warranty. Check on nikons site and call up a few dealers. the dollar rate has gone down so i guess the price to might have gone down.

Though my profile indicates I am from Kolkata, but I stay almost 50% time in Navi Mumbai.
I do have an apartment there.
Will be grateful to get reference of your Mumbai dealer. Expect to be in Mumbai around end July. I shall be travelling to Mumbai from Kolkata via south by road and thereafter to Leh in September.

Thinking of buying a good upgrade to 1100D. Now, almost fixed to D5200. Could anyone please tell me, if it's the right choice? Price is 36K at Amazon, body only and 18-55mm at 37.5K. Which is a better deal?
And please suggest some cheap lenses, like around 10K.

Should I get a prime lens or a zoom one? I prefer zoom lens because I don't have the budget to buy 2-3 lenses.

edios, think about what you are going to do with your 1100D, also do you have additional canon lenses? if so its better to buy the Canon DSLR. What about D600, with the 18~135 Lens bundle? you can have versatile setup with that bundle than getting a 18~55 lens. Later you may add a prime or a telephoto IMO. That's what I did so suggesting you.

I think I'll try to sell the 1100D. And no, I don't have any Canon lens. Two I have is Nikon ones, which where used by my father in his FM2. But those are damaged, one has full of fungus (70-300mm ED lens) , and the other, (Sigma macro lens) one of the aperture blade is broken (or I guess stuck).

Amazon.com : Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6D ED AF Nikkor SLR Camera Lens : Camera Lenses : Camera & Photo
^This is the one I have.

18-105mm costs 10K extra.

EDIT: Seriously, you suggested D600? :O
