Wagon R and Fabia in the same post.

These cars are nowhere near each other.

Go for the Fabia blindly.

The facelifted model comes with changes that are merely cosmetic.

And you wont get discounts with the facelifted model.
That's the very reason I want to buy this version AMG. The facelifted model will come with the 1.2L petrol engine from the Polo and a few styling tweaks. Rest everything will remain same (even the features). And the discounts will vanish as well. So ignoring this offer would be foolish. And trust me, my mind and heart both are set on the Fabia. Skoda's tagline, "Obsessed with quality since 1895" seems very, very true. And you're right when you say that the Wagon R is nowhere near the Fabia. They're absolutely eons apart. After checking out the Fabia, the Wagon R seems as if it is made out of thermocol! [lol]

Amaan, if you read it, I mentioned about an 80000 bucks discount on the Fabia. I also mentioned that we were offered the Topend Ambient, high on taste and quality for Rs 5.6 lakh!!!! (But we turned up our noses and walked out as they were BS3 [evil]

My advice. If you plan to use everyday, go for the WagonR/Figo. If it is to be used occasionally, go in for the fab.
That is very much similar to the discount offered to me on the Fabia Classic 1.2 HTP. And why did you turn it down? Because it was BS3? [frustration]
That doesn't affect us in any way at all Arkin! All we will have to deal with will be lower resale price and marginally lower fuel efficiency, which I believe is a very small price to pay for such a terrific car. If you have ignored the Fabia for this reason only, think again. You might want to reconsider.

And well, of course the car will be used regularly. Not for very long distances, but yes, it won't be used occasionally either.

The Fabia felt almost as good as the Corolla in our portico. The main reason why we bunked it was the confusion related to AfSS and maintenance costs. Anyway, we now have the Fiesta SXi, Polo Hi and used Corolla as viable options.

Wow Amaan am equally thrilled and surprised after reading your posts. From a Figo/WagonR you have jumped into the premium hatch segment. The Fabia is a great choice and after experiencing this Hatch you will surely simply ignore all the other hatches.

But the only points which worries me is the poor A.S.S. I have read several bad reports and negative remarks from the users themselves in net about Skoda's poor A.S.S. But you should have any problems for atleast the first 3 years regarding maintenance and service. But do check the spare prices list as Zinam mentioned. And also as 350Z mentioned a Fabia's maintenance is not as easy as a WagonR or a Figo.

BTW you still did not mention the offer you got finally![;)]

Can't help it Dhaya! This is the plight of a small car buyer today! Confusion galore! Okay, if you want to know the discount, including corporate discount as well, is close to Rs.80,000 [:)] plus some freebies and the extended warranty AND the Skoda Shield! Sounds like a good deal doesn't it?

Guys, after much confusion and much ado about Skoda's A.S.S (and apprehension as well), I think we're now very close to getting the Fabia. The deal is just too good to ignore and I feel that if we do let this offer go by, it would be one big mistake. We'll be going to TD the car in sometime now, and if mom likes it too, then the deal is sealed! The Fabia it will be! [clap] Depending on how the TD goes, we'll put in our papers today itself.

BTW, I had a doubt. The SP tells me that the Fabia is a CKD and is only assembled in the Chakan plant at Pune. Is it true? I always felt that the entire car was made here in Pune!

Guys, we visited the showroom last evening (which was undergoing repairs after a minor accident caused by the Fabia-the display car of course) and guess what, mom LOVED it! So finally, we have decided that the Fabia it is! Our papers will be submitted on Monday (we will book the car today or tomorrow depending on our schedule) and the car will be here by next week! [clap]

Now, I will be getting the VIN.no for the car today. The color chosen is Silky Silver (I wanted white though). Now, what brand of tyres should I opt for? They're offering Bridgestone or Goodyear. So what's better? And also, apart from sunfilms (that too-which brand?) and mats, what else should I ask for? Do let me know at the earliest.

Thanks all! [:)]

Congratz on your Buy!

I would recommend Bridgestone.

Sun Films stick with 3M.

Also check out teflon coating, Under chasis coating, Keyless entry.

Congrats Amaan Fabia is truly a great car to own and drive. Hope you get your DL and drive the beauty soon!

Tyres- Bridgestone

Sunfilms- 3M

Try to get rubber type floor and boot mats , teflon coating , underbody anti-rust coating , reverse horns , remote locking , mudflaps , seat covers , perfumes , idols , car covers etc etc!

You cannot get all those i mentioned but try to get the maximum from the dealer. You can even ask for discounted spoilers or reverse sensors.

@ AMG why do you say so? It reminds others standing behind to move away while reversing. BTW i din mean some of those stupid reverse horns , i meant only gentle ones.

But anyways i think remote locking also does the job of a reverse horn.

Good decision at last and Fabia is much better choice in the market.

My suggestion would also be Goodyear. Actually Bridgestone and Goodyear is almost of same quality, no problem in taking other also.

No teflon for new car.
