I am still confused and not voted till now. Though Zest is a good car from Tata motors, it doesnt made the numbers in sales till now like its competiters done. I think we in TAi, had huge expectation from this car like all other TA MO cars.

Though Honda city is huge success after diesel version, As a honda car, i felt it doesnt had the quality/looks (from front especially) of their earlier city models.

In elite i 20, Hyundai introduced their another level fludiac design language which already available in korea in their cars like Velositer and as usual in a huge price. None of their cars came recent is a flop one except the high end sonata & Santafe.

I will vote for Fiat Avventura for its looks, price, ground clearance, ride quality, cost of ASS, cost of spare parts, And ability to race on all Indian roads.

Since Avventura is not listed as contestant here, hence I am given with only option and that is Elite i20.

About rest of the cars I agree with fellow TAIger tff.
I was about to demand inclusion of Avventura in the list of contestants on this thread, but decided to refrain from it due to this.

Tata Zest, the most VFM car available in the list, which also provides a decent drive and comfort. Feature list have already been discussed a lot many times and hence no need of repeating them here again.

Zest can be placed at a point where your requirements and your budget meet each other.

I voted for zest not just because i own it but it has good features within in the reachable price.

It may not be the best batsman in the list or may not be the best bowler in the list but it is the best all-rounder in the list who can perform well in the team to win the match.

Well many are /already have voted for Zest. But there are many who complain as to why its Zest and why not City or i20Elite.

I feel given that i20 and City are already based out of older siblings and much have been borrowed from earlier version, Zest is an all new car. To top that, Zest has included features which none other cars in the segment has till now. Loaded with many first in segment features, and that too at a very economical price, (infact lower that the entire competition is a compelling proposition.

People will argue on the numbers that Zest is not doing is primarily that Zest has to fight a very big hurdle which rest of the cars dont have. "Perception". Infact City and i20 has benefit of the brand and the older versions where as Zest has to fight perception of the Tata brand. As I had mentioned long back in my posts, Zest will not see bumper opening the rest of the cars see due to this main reasons. Niether will any new cars being launched by Tata for atleast somemore time. Once the word of mouth positives are spread in the market in general, the sales would increase. For Zest it began slowly with dip in Dec but should be able to see decent numbers in this month figures. I anticipate that Zest may post its highest monthly sales in this month.

Thus to me, since Zest as a car which is believed to be make or break car for Tata and has managed to live up to the expectations and the hype, and has managed to show ray of hope for Tata (which is a very big deal for any manufacturer) is definitely to me a Car of the year.

Sorry Viky. You are totally wrong here. i20 and City are new generations of existing cars, but are built on a totally new platform where each and every panels are new. These are totally new cars carrying old names. However, the car you call all new i.e. Zest, is nothing close to that. It is a compact sedan built from the updated Vista platform but carrying an all new name. It is visually also very similar to the Vista.

To top that, Zest has included features which none other cars in the segment has till now. Loaded with many first in segment features, and that too at a very economical price, (infact lower that the entire competition is a compelling proposition.
Totally agree to this. Zest has exceptional features compared to competition. Features actually out-weigh a well-loaded Xcent. Low price actually makes it an excellent VFM proposition.

The Automotive India Car of the Year 2014 is...Tata Zest! Considering several innovations and segment-firsts this car has brought to the table and most importantly, at an unbeatable price tag, I'm not at all surprised with poll results. Needless to say, Zest marks new beginnings for Tata Motors. Thanks to everyone who dropped valuable votes. TAI-COTY 2014 trophy will be shortly handed over to Tata Motors on behalf of all TAI-Gers. [thumbsup]

Zest is a car which is very VFM in terms of features and build and parts quality.
I already knew that Zest will be the TAI COTY on the time when the poll was opened itself.

Hmm, well according to what I have heard and read is Zest has been based on Vista platform the similarities end there (offcourse the body shell though similar to Vista) every body panel is different, powertrain different, interiors are entirely different, and that compels me to call it an all new car
