New Honda City unveiled, is it a game changer?

Source : Indianautosblog.com
The fourth-generation Honda City was unveiled to the world, just minutes ago in New Delhi, India.
On the outside, the new Honda City is the first Honda in India to adopt the company’s new “EXCITING H DESIGN”. Honda refers to the exterior styling of the new City as “Sleek Cross-motion form”.
The new City will be powered by a petrol engine, and for the first time ever, a diesel engine will also be seen powering the City. The diesel unit is the familiar 1.5-liter four-cylinder EarthDreams unit powering the Amaze. The petrol, though the same 1.5-liter i-VTEC as the current City, has been “improved”. Honda has not yet released the specifications of these motors.

I personally was expecting more. Even though Diesel workhorse has been added, new interiors, a bit of metal plate juggling here and there, but it still looks a facelift only at the end of day. As CIVIC had been discontinued, which was a marvel of design and oomph fator, I had expected new City to fill the void. Also the news was that CITY will share same platform as upcoming JAZZ. It hardly seems so now after the launch. So JAZZ , which by the way I am eyeing for my next possession, is going to be expensive.. HONDA please listen to me and keep JAZZ / VEZEL in my reach.. ^^ +100, I was also looking at its GC increase a bit and the design also looks same. I have the same feeling like you about New Jazz and I am also expecting Honda to keep its price bit low, but I don't think it will be cheaper

Not again. When will Honda come up width good interiors. Seems Honda overlooks the customers in India. Why can't they come up with interiors like in accord or CRV? Disappointed with the console once again.

Ajay: Thanks for pointing out the picture of the open bonnet. Looks like Honda has taken good care to reduce NVH. Hopefully the when test drives are available, it will delight buyers.

Hi,
Honda City 2014 has lots of features compared to the older Versions. But the Exterior is not much differentiated with the Old Outgoing model. Expected a Twin surrond lights and better Interiors for its class. Front Grill is a boring model.
In the images i saw, the interiors were not up to the Class. AC Vents is an old type ones.

@ Vibhor, nice coverage. Still no pricing declared ? Any idea when they will declare prices ?
Thanks. The car will launch in Jan 2014. That’s when the prices and remaining information will be unveiled.

6 speed manual gearbox in city diesel, wonder why nobody mentioned this big change
Indeed. Notice the new ‘VX’ branding too?

No snap of the open bonnet of the 1.5L i-DTEC ?
I took an image but it turned out to be blurred.

Yup, same here man!

Disappointed with the interiors. Also, as 350z mentioned, quality seems to be compromised here and there on plastic parts.

I am happy that my ANHC 2013 will never look obsolete in front of ANHC 2014. Of course, my car will still be modern & stunning.

As along with some of you, I too got disappointed little especially the front look & the wheels. I do not know, probably the hype would have created too much of expectation from Honda. I would never say that Honda has disappointed and, only the performance & the price will speak the truth. I read that this is Car for India and the front grill design is for India. Whether there will be any cosmetic changes for Cars sold abroad? I tried my best to get the pictures of such launches occurred in other parts of the world, but I could not get it.

The new Honda City also features its ‘Exciting H’ design language which is to be carried over to other Honda models as well. The new Honda City is also the widest car in its class, & comes loaded with equipment which were missing in previous models.

There will also be a Diesel variant, a first for the Honda City. Autocar has covered many of the new car details and given lot of insights already. Cant wait for the sedan booking & pricing details to come out.
