why don't you try to clean the air filter? its easy to remove.
My car feels springy but FE has dropped to 7.8kmpl consistently whereas a friends identical car gives 10kmpl
Is airfilter the culprit

How to check?

Planning to buy the New Honda City VX MT . Wanted to check with Current owners hows the mileage in City bumper to bumper traffic and highways.

Also hows the Quality of the interiors with regards to Rattles please. Heard the Quality is drastically gone down and a lot of Suspension noise comes in the cabin while going over pot holes.
No rattles whatsoever
I own 3rd gen and my friends own 4th gen

While quality is a bit of a downer coming from 3rd gen city, 4th gen is perfectly a good buy , still better than the competition overall
Verna is equally good ,probably better in AT combo and all but loses out in rear space

Slight suspension noise is there in my 3rd gen but very comfortable compared to the competition

Stick to City or Verna only imho, excellent cars
Ecosport is also worth considering but a bit smaller for rear passengers

Dear Irfan, I own Nov 2014 VX cvt, for me it returns 14 kmpl in city and 18 on highways, manual owners please add your mileage figures.
Regarding quality, it's gone way down, I have dashboard rattles, suspension noise and couple of squeaks from doors. Suggest you have a look at all new Verna, I found it silent, no rattles and if you are ok with less legroom at the back and lower mileage. Verna looks like a better car than City.

Hi,

Yes heard the same feedback from quite a few people around with regards to dashboard rattles and stuff. at time i do Drive a bit fast and avoid small undulations on roads so that will be an issue. Verna is a complete no no didnt like it much though its a fab car .

Might consider the Ecosport in this case as the Build quality and other features do make it very good. Features like Traction control hill hold assist and other safety features.

Also the roads here in Mumbai are pathetic and when you do go outstation like to Alibaug mahableshwar you dont find any roads only pot holes and bad concrete.

Im surprised by the rattle complaints
Maybe its a trend with the newer Hondas
Never faced rattles in my 2nd gen CRV-10 years and 3rd gen City-8 years

I hope Honda looks into this

I now own a Tucson and I can vouch for the quality of Hyundai vehicles

Yes, you are right, till 3rd gen City there were no rattles and build was better, when Honda introduced 4th gen city, they messed up with quality big time. My preowned Wagon r 1.1 2009 is much better than my 2014 city vx cvt. No rattles in Wagon r, but many on city. 10 out of 10 city's coming to service station had same complaint of dashboard rattles, these cars were produced from Sep 14 to Jan 15. I have no idea about cars produced Feb 15 onwards.

The rattles bother me so much that I use my wagon r more than the city.

I agree about Hyundai's quality nowadays. I found new verna to be much better than my city in terms of quality. In front of Verna, City looks like a car which was put together in a hurry.

That said, Id like to add Honda is still on my list of brands worth buying
I still feel Verna and City are better than the competition overall to own , comfort etc
Ciaz is a close 2nd given its lower pricing and slightly more space than City

Finally booked a IVTEC VX MT Silver with great discount.

Looking forward to getting the car by January.

Also planning to install BMW style rear tail lights.
Congrats and welcome to the Honda family !!
My neighbour has BMW style LEDs on his 2014 City
They look amazing, hes put them for around a year now, no issues !

I own the 3rd gen City with 160mm GC, chances of scraping are a bit high but 4th gen City is 165mm which is on par with the competition as such
Ciaz is 170mm
Vento/Rapid is 168mm, but the laden ground clearance is lesser because of the suspension

In short, dont worry, 4th gen suspension is stiff enough and even with laden , it will handle bad roads well as long as you are cautious and gentle
Use 45 degree approach method for unscientific speedbreakers and youll be fine

To be fair, Ive never faced issues with my City except for 1-2 places where even an i20 and Ecosport scraped (friends cars)

Honda After Sales was never bad actually
Ive faced a dealership where they didnt know how to handle a bad clutch on my brand new car(in 2010) but that was a one off case and after contacting Honda India via email, they directed me to another Dealership where defective clutch was replaced free of cost - all this within 6 hours
I still service my car via Honda ASC and its always been a breeze

So after four and half years and 86000kms , I have sold my idtech . It was a wonderful car. Never had any issues with it , service was honda like ......professional to the core. And surprisingly no rattles even after all these years. The reason i sold it was that accommodating six had become a problem. The only complaint was the underbody scraping at a frequency which was beginning to bother me. And yes the other thing that bothered me to an equal measure was the noisy diesel engine.
