New Delhi, June 29: Driving high on its technology prowess and deep customer loyalty, the Honda City, the best-selling sedan from Honda Cars India Ltd (HCIL), reached yet another milestone in its successful journey in India. The 4th Generation Honda City has achieved sales volume of over 2.5 lakh units, making it the best-selling City ever from Honda.

The 4th Generation City, which was launched in January 2014, set a new benchmark with an all-new i-DTEC diesel engine and a new-generation CVT transmission technology. The model also witnessed tremendous change in customer’s preferences, with over 30% opting for the the highly fuel-efficient CVT variant.

Speaking about the milestone achieved by Honda City in India, Mr. Yoichiro Ueno, President & CEO, Honda Cars India, said, "The Honda City is an important pillar of Honda’s business and success in India. With its new-generation technologies, the 4th Generation City meets our customers’ aspirations for a premium product. It is also a testimony of our commitment to bring the best models and technologies for our customers in India. I would like to thank our customers for their support to the model."

The Honda City has occupied a special place in the hearts of its customers in India ever since its introduction as Honda’s first model in January 1998. Cumulatively, Honda City achieved sales of more than 6.8 lakh units in the Indian market, making it a segment leader. India is the largest and the most important market for the Honda City and accounts for over 25% of City’s worldwide sales.

Globally, the Honda City has registered cumulative sales of over 3.5 million units in more than 60 countries. Of this, over 1 Million units are attributed to the 4th Generation City.

I have one question on City ride quality. I have 2016 City VX CVT (pre-facelifted model). I am completely unhappy with the ride quality. Every small bump it jumps like crazy. On top of it our apartment complex has 18 speed breakers from main gate to parking slot. City is crazy driving over these speed breakers. Discussed with service folks multiple times and they said everything alright. Thinking of disposing city and in search for cars with good ride quality. Ciaz is better in ride quality?

Check your tyre pressure and take a test drive of another city over the same roads .

I would suggest you Hexa, its ride quality is simply brilliant in its segment atleast. With latest price cut (thanks to GST), I am pretty sure you won't regret.

For ride quality, any TATA will suffice you :stupid:

Upgrade Tyre(s) to 195 Section and it shall reduce the issue to a good extent. Your car would be having the 175 Section OEM spec Tyre(s).

195 is the best for City 2016
Also play around with tyre pressure and ensure front tyres pressure is 2 psi more than the rear as Honda front end is always heavier thanks to engine and they recommend this even for stock tyres

I put 32 in front, 30 for rear and its fine for Mumbai roads
I have 2010 City with 185 , formely 175 and same levels on both
You may add spacers to the suspension to prevent bounce but I have no experience in this

Also Ive noticed City ride quality improves with speed, if you slow down too much for certain bumps , ride quality is bouncy

What brand are your current tyres? If its MRF, they tend to be strong but rough. Michelins are too soft but comfortable

If tyre pressure is too high, its pretty bouncy

For ride quality, any TATA will suffice you :stupid:
I respectfully beg to differ

Thank you all for your valuable inputs. I completely missed tyre upgrade helping ride quality. My current tyres are Michelin XM1 175. I will see if I can upgrade to Michelin primacy 3ST 195 (this is what everyone suggesting). I tried different air pressures and noticed very minor improvement. Couple of questions
1. Now that I have used my tyres for an year (around 7500KMs), will Michelin dealer trade-in these tyres for new tyres?
2. My back trunk opens abruptly once a while on drive. I had to stop and push really hard. Am I doing something wrong. Once it refused to lock. Even when I tried to lock multiple times it kept on opening.. am I missing some steps? why car thinks it should keep trunk in open state. I drove like that in open state for some distance then it automatically locked.
3. Stop/Start button is becoming nuisance to me. Multiple times I left the car with engine on. Two times for longer duration. It makes very small beep but in the crowded market very difficult to notice. I thought engine will stop once keys are away at certain distance.

1. Maybe, they might buyback for a small fee, try that or else use them for a while more if its expensive. XM1s are comfortable tyres, I suggest taking a ride in another City with 195 and see if it suits you before taking the plunge(youll anyways upgrade to 195 when these tyres wear out I guess). Ideal tyre pressure is 32-34 in front and 30-32 at back.

2. Honda boot requires minimal effort to close and lock is very good, seems you might have a faulty lock or something, get it replaced under warranty asap

3. This is normal for any stop/start button car, no car will shut engine automatically as far as I know due to safety reasons

If you've already bought the car then you should have finished all the precautionary checks before making full payment like taking it to service station and checking the service records and cross verifying the same.
