The reason was the service centre calibrated it with 2016 zest values whereas my zest complies to the 2014 model values.

For zest owners please check with them while giving for alignment.
Good to know Kishore that your wheel issue is sorted out.
How did you know that there is a difference in values and how did you know that your car complies to 2014?
So what should be the correct value?

The alignment report shows the year and model name.

When the service centre gave me car after alignment the car was not smooth and I had to give steering inputs.

I compared 2014 and 2016 values and they were different.

When the outside guy used 2014 values, my car is smooth

It's a big page with lots of numbers.

The heading of the page has the year mentioned in it.

For basic values, they are present in the zest manual

The little volvo bus completed one year on january 3rd !!!

My zest has crossed 8600 kms as of now.

Time flies so fast.

Not much updates till now, its doing its duty just fine.

After the 2nd free service, those guys just washed the car and gave it back to me.

Very disappointed I gave bad feedback to the customer service of the TASS.

They immediately called and told me to bring the car. Though evident I didn't find the car to change much. They haven't done a proper "service" and tried to work on the complaints I gave.

The door noise and dashboard noise are still present. They messed with the wheel alignment for which I had to again spend money to get it done outside. I have decided to move on and use the car as it is.

I am very disappointed as the 2nd free service is very crucial to cars nowadays as the service intervals have increased to 10-15,000 kms or one year to almost all modern cars.

I will see how the zest performs now and if I find any issue I am going to give a pretty strong statement to the service advisor this time.

Went for a day trip to basara and I had a great time.

Fingers crossed.

Kishore good to hear your feedback even I completed one year with. Altogether it was a smooth ride expect one accident experience where I had a bad experience with ASS but apart from that It was good as I personally wait and get the work done.

Opted for Gold AMC before the service It saved a lot and had to pay only for bulbs and weights.

Currently I have got the car serviced few days back when my odo was 15000. Current reading is 15700. Mileage is 13 kmpl in city and 17 kmpl on highways.

The car has got lot better after the second service.

I am really happy with the car and really feel it VFM and really feel got a good deal. Planning to keep the car for next ten years

At which service center was 2nd service done? Also has your low rpm jerking/stalling issue solved?

Thanks guys.

Coming to the zest there is a feel good factor after we service our car or bike. This is absent in my case. That SA just gave the car in the same condition in which I gave.

The gear was notchy, there were door and dashboard noises etc. They didn't rectify even such things.

@ The service centre is the same as you suggested.

This thread hasn't been updated since long. Current reading 10043

The zest finally crosses the 10,000 kms mark, which is slow by today's standards.

From december 2016 after I joined in a new job and with a change in schedule many things changed.

The pics above are from today's drive.

The zest gave a good mileage of above 17 kmpl. All the kms logged were in city traffic conditions with lots of idling today morning in a pretty bad traffic jam. Fifth gear used only twice or thrice in the whole day.

Here's my review of the zest after having used it for 10,000 kms and over an year.

What I like

- The zest is a workhorse and can take abuse pretty much. Given my aggressive style of driving, it has tolerated me well till now. [lol]

- Though mileage varies drastically for even small changes of parameters , the figures are very impressive on highways given the weight of the car.

- Feature rich car with complete value for money.

- Noise insulation and ride quality.

- Once in the turbo zone, the revotron pulls like an electric locomotive.

- Music system

What I don't like

- Pulling issue[frustration]
This bloody thing crops up for even small potholes. There is an uneven pull to the right when one's driving. I gave the car for wheel alignment for 6 times in the last 10,000 kms. The usual interval is just once in every 5000 kms.

- Brakes
The brakes have good stopping power but there is always some grinding sound and sometimes a squealing sound while hitting the brakes.

- air conditioner

Not sure if its south indian summer heat, but my family members always complain the AC to be insufficient. If the cooling is increased, the blower sound is more and there is drop of pick up and mileage.

- the zest is not as smooth as it used to be in its initial days. But I have started to ignore these things and use the zest as it is.

I gave the car to service centre to check its fitness and they said the car is fine.

So I am going to put my doubts and observations aside and believe them for once. Not that I trust them, but because I want to enjoy the drive and have peace of mind.

There has to be a special mention about mileage.

Is the revotron not a fuel efficient engine ?

Here a few things that effect the mileage of the zest petrol.

Petrol pump

Yes, you read it right. The zest shows lots of difference in mileage whenever there is a change in petrol pump. Funny thing is the petrol pump near my house which is not famous for petrol quality gives the highest mileage when used in my zest. The same petrol when used in my two wheeler gives less mileage.

AC

Obvious for a petrol car.

Style of driving

The lesser we use the accelerator and use the torque to keep the car going tremendously increases the mileage. The key here is not speed or gear but use proper gear for proper rpms to maintain smooth acceleration. The best example is today, where I hardly used 5th gear and drove the zest whole day in traffic even then it gave a solid 17+ kmpl mileage.

Overall I still look back at my little volvo bus after I park in my garage. Hope that sums it all.

Hope I covered all details.

Nicely written post covered all the aspects of Zest. I must say you have covered less kms in 18 months.

I would like to add few updates of my Zest as we had purchased almost same time.

Kms completed: 20,000.

Most of the kms done on tough terrains of konkan where road conditions are not really good and car is performing very nicely.

Had one minor accident where I had hitted a dog and there was the radiator replacement.

Servicing cost : Since have opted for Gold AMC so have spent not more than Rs 2000 till now overall and really find it VFM.

ASS is good sometimes may need some followups but overall really satisfied.

Mileage : Overall getting the an average of 17 kmpl which is quite decent.

Overall I am really happy with car.

Lazily the zest crosses 12,000 kms mark. The current reading is at 12,304 kms.

The rear right door when open shows as left door open near the speedometer. The service center didn't rectify it. I told I will check it during free service.

The moment I took the car from centre I stalled as the clutch was way too tight. The technician must have done something as the clutch was smooth before.

On 5th of this month had a one day trip to srisailam. Total of 515 kms up and down. There are few things I felt were issues.

There was constant power drop and I had to change gears a lot even on plain roads. This was not the case before.

While returning on the ghat road there was lot of heat from footwell near clutch and brakes.

I stopped the car and opened the bonnet and inspected the footwell while engine running but this time there was no heat.

The heat got cleared by itself. But the pick up is not smooth. I have to really push each gear over 2000 rpm to change to the next gear. But once it reaches 80kmph then only the 5th gear can be engaged. Over 80 kmph the zest gave good performance.

Not sure what the issue is actually. The pick up is more dull with a.c.

I got air filter checked just 1 month back.

Not aware of what the issue is.

Overall it was a fun trip.

The last time I logged in was on 8th september 2017.

Being caught with busy schedule I am not logging in nowadays.

The zest hasn't even touched 20,000 kms and is nearing 19,000 kms as of today.

There is not much to update as the car is running fine.

The right indicator is not cutting off by itself and I need to manually disengage the indicator after taking the right turn. Same issue is not with the left turn though.

I feel that the rear is just slipping away on roads. Got it checked at service center with an underbody check up and they said everything's fine.

The car is just absolutely brilliant.

On express highways the car with 4 passengers and a.c. ON takes time to pull from 100 to 120 kmph especially when I slow down for a moment to 80 kmph.

I gun the accelerator to full throttle to maintain 120 kmph which I feel is a struggle sometimes.

I have done two one day trips 630 kms in one day to kaleshwaram up and down from hyderabad and the other is to vijayawada 600+ kms one day trip and one tamil nadu trip on zest.

The tamil nadu trip was 2000 kms nearly.

I observed two things in these trips.

The kaleshwaram trip was very stressful given the road conditions and traffic but the zest just delivered absolute performance whole day.

The brakes have gotten a bit slow to react. The brake liners have been cleaned but the brakes are not that effective as before. Will drive some more and then see.

All in all its a satisfactory experience though I am not able to drive it much.

Will try my best to keep this thread updated.
