Zest nearing 3000 kms.

After the recent ecu updates, the stalling issue hasn't repeated again but turbo lag has increased. Once you cross the 2000 rpm the turbo kicks in and the fun is priceless.

My zest may be the unique one among all petrols but i am loving it.

Drove the zest on undulating twisty roads of banjara hills and wow what a transformation.

The only precaution is to maintain the car in turbo zone.

Back from a long trip of more than 1100 kms to konaseema area from hyderabad.

It was a breeze to drive the zest at constant 120 kmph.

It gave 17.1 kmpl with a/c 100% on. The car maintained superb composure.

The pulling to right has started again.

While returning, today the car struggled to maintain speeds and the lack of power was too much. Got mileage of 15.4 and lot of petrol smell after reaching home.

Planning to visit showroom

Gave car for two issues

Wheel alignment as the car was pulling to right.

They worked hard but I am not satisfied. They said that I have to check it on open stretch and if I still have problems i can bring it.

I told them gearbox is notchy, they said it is repaired but I still find it to be the same. I am planning to use the car for few days and then see if its repaired.

Hi all, this power loss and other issues in zest are cropping up in petrol Revotorq version? Present in diesel Quadrajet engine too?

Sorry for the late reply, did check this page from a long time. By the way I came to your place kakinada last month and did a marathon drive to hyderabad in the petrol zest. Not once did the petrol zest stall anywhere.

The temperature was soaring and with a.c on and full boot of luggage and 5 people in the car I managed to do kakinada to mandapeta in 40 minutes. I left 3 lights junction at 9 am and reached mandapeta bus stand at 9:40 am. You can imagine the heavy traffic at that time and even then the zest took us quickly. The total driving time to hyderabad was just 7+ hours for the 580 kms journey.

The petrol bunk near bhanugudi junction had bad air pump and he deflated my tyre pressure from 35 to 20 psi. Inspite of that the car though a bit uneasy performed flawlessy.

The quadrajet doesn't have any issues, there is a recall for some part replacement under warranty which is something related to emissions. Apart from that the engine is the national engine and is very reliable and fuel efficient, no issues on that front.

The little volvo bus had another visit to the service centre.

The SA test drove the car and said the alignment is good. I told them to swap tyres for my peace of mind and then check the alignment. They did that and I again drove the car and it was simply superb. The zest stuck to a line on straight roads.

A good relief to me.

The odometer is currently at 4612 kms and the ride quality just amazes me every time I take car on pothole infested hyderabad roads.

I may have sounded harsh in my ownership review in the initial pages of this thread but I take back my statement on that.

I can now confidently say now that "The zest is the best petrol compact sedan in its segment in india on sale today".

I had a small accident on the hitech city flyover, won't go into details of it but the i10 lost its paint with some of it transferred to my zest and had a huge dent on the door and my zest didn't lose it paint !! The upper coat just got a small aberration but the paint is intact !! There's just a small press of the panel and due to the silver colour of the car it is not even visible.

The build quality is outstanding and the paint quality is simply superb.

At this price point the zest gives me

- superb music system

- excellent ride quality

- strong build

- lesser price than competitors

- reasonable priced spare parts

The mileage is slightly less and is around 11-13 in city conditions but my initial investment on the day of buying it is less and I am covering the difference with other so called fuel efficient cars in terms of fuel costs which are costlier on road.

I have accustomed to the characteristics of the revotron and I am able to drive it in heavy traffic inspite of its turbo lag.

I took the gold AMC and till date inspite of so many visits to the service centre I have paid Rs. 0 for the car.

The wheel alignment was taken care in the gold AMC.

I bought the zest with my head rather than my heart and I have started seeing that I took the right decision.

Thank you @ Kishore108. I bought Fiat Punto 90 hp, Now I understood why people tell so many horrible things about the service and sales experience with TML showrooms and ASS and now I can tell confidently how TaTa Motors Ltd showrooms specially at Rajahmundry literally doesn't even know how to handle potential customers and they need to learn from Maruthi a lot. I agree that Zest is a good car but after my experience I decided to stay away from TML, can you imagine they just simply refused to change the color and they tried to tell all BS stories even they said invoice was made on my name and so they cant change the color. I even spoke to the TML area sales manger and he himself tried to say invoice was made on my name. When I confronted him that I found out no dealer makes invoice until they get full amount and that too, I only paid 10k with receipt and 5k with out receipt, total 15k then he agreed that invoice was not made and I am under no obligation to buy the car if I dont want and he further said that it will take much work to change the color of the car and promised me that he will get back to me soon. I got a call after couple of days from SA asking weather I am willing to buy 2015 make old stock car and they will give pathetic 25k discount. The same SA initially told me earlier when I was inquiring don't go for old 2015 car. How pathetic they are? They don't even bother to follow the potential customer. Maruthi SA`s came to me many times and tried to convince me to go for Maruthi products like Dizire or Ciaz. Now I need to figure out how much money I am going to get back from them out of my 15k I paid. I really wanted to buy Zest XT Quadrajet and all banking formalities are finalized they royally screw..d with their horrible attitude.
Now I am happy with my choice Punto Evo Sports 90 hp, only complaint is Turbo lag and 2nd gear is not so great but over all Punto is built like a Tank. Being a doctor my priority was safety and now I am 100% satisfied.
By the way this was my 2nd bad experience with the same Sri Koduri Motors Rajahmundry, TML cause actually I booked TaTa Tiago diesel waited 1 month and I wanted to go for top end version and I changed my choice from the earlier version cause there was no test drive diesel car available at the time of booking and I was told I can change the version with in the time with out extending the waiting period. When I opted for top end version after td of diesel Tiago, I was told white color literally will take 3 to 4 months at the least cause TML doesnt produce white color in top end models and they wanted to push silver instead of white. Then also I spoke with this same TML area manager and he assured me that he will call bak but he never did. Then I realized why to spend 7lak on new instead I can extend and go for better car so started looking for better cars in under 10 lak diesel cars. My short list was Tata Zest, Ford FIGO/ASPIRE and VW POLO. Never considered Maruthi or Hyundai due to saftey being my top priority. In the end I was told about Fiat Punto and I instantly liked it and got it in less than 10 days after booking amount. Hope TML will improve their ASS and dealership experience. Thinking to write TML about my experience soon and ask about my booking amount.

Thanks guys for your valuable in puts, TAI absolutely helped me not to fell for TML SAs tricks and helped me to get the best car.

Its very sad to see potential customers move away from good products.

Here in hyderabad, concorde is good. I didn't have good reviews from other dealership service centres.

Got call from concorde motors. They are organising free home check up of the car and giving a gift to all customers.

The SA came to my house and checked the car. I told him about the alignment issue and told him to give a final check. He said he worked for 10 years in WA and WB and said the car is perfectly aligned.

He gave a complimentary gift and told that I can give him a call whenever I need his help.

Felt good and its really nice that tata is making its dealers more customer centric. Slowly but surely things are changing.

The JD survey guys called me for a survey on the zest and dealer and tata motors on a whole. The call went for 20 minutes !!! Felt like answering a objective type competitive exam [lol]

I went for 100 kms trip and the car pulled to right again.

During 3rd visit the service centre told its fine and I have tried to ignore the pulling but when I saw the tyres yesterday they started losing rubber only the edges of the tyre.

I doubt what the issue is. How to diagnose the cause for a 7 months old car ?

Its been a long time since I logged in tai and the zest has crossed 6200 kms

The car has been performing well. There is a screeching sound from brakes after the recent rains.

Went for a 400 kms day trip and zest gave a mileage of 19.4 onward and 18.7 for return journey. This included heavy truck traffic and hard braking and speeds of 90-120 kmph.

Will visit the tass for an underbody check up causing the pulling.

Its been a while since zest has any updates.

The steering was getting tilt to right side after it hit a speedbreaker.

The service centre gave a probable quote. But a pleasant surprise was that they didn't charge even a single rupee thanks to gold AMC.

I got the underbody checked twice and got the brake checked as there was a bit of shuddering from it.

The alignment was a bit off but I drove it for more than hundred kms at triple digit speeds.

Took to outside wheel alignment shop and got it checked. The first time didn't work out. So took it again and this time it was perfect.

The reason was the service centre calibrated it with 2016 zest values whereas my zest complies to the 2014 model values.

For zest owners please check with them while giving for alignment.

It crossed the 7000 km mark and is currently at 7200 kms.

Drove it today at winding roads towards narsapur in medak district.

The road is old school two lane highway with forest range.

I drove it at high speeds and braked it hard while taking sharp turns and the zest took it like a boss.

I never drove it at such speeds on curves before, was a bit nervous but the zest though a bit wobbled somehow held its ground.

I was getting very low mileage of 10-12 kmpl in city, so in return from narsapur I drove it on the same road but a bit less aggressive this time. I wanted to check what mileage it would give.

It gave a mileage of more than 21.5 kmpl at a point but when a.c. is ON and due to slow traffic it took to the one given in picture above.

It was two lane highway with only once or twice at fifth gear, so the thing is to get mileage the car has to be maintained at proper rpm at proper gear. Hard braking and aggressive overtaking also gave this mileage. Feeling great.

The pick up is a bit erratic and the ride quality is good but the I expect it to improve once the second major free service gets completed.

Overall my experience is good with the zest.
