Will be booking Zest XT 1.2 RT Sky Grey today!!! Super excited.........
Please someone tell me I am making the correct decision. I am sure about my choice and I love this car, but everyday, so many negative comments from different person about TML are clogging my head. I don't have a problem, but my parents are skeptical, listening to all the comments. I have to really convince them, but later if I am proved wrong, I will be in a very bad situation!! :P

Please let me know that I am doing right by making an "Us against the world" decision!
Well mostof the people complaining about tata have no experience with the tata or its product. Its a bad word of mouth happening. However coming to the Zest its on road for now close to 2 year if i am not wrong. It is a very solid vehicle. No major issues what so ever being reported. yes there are few niggles here and there. Which vehicle is issue free? Tass is also improving. So you can go ahead and take a plunge with Zest.

Do not worry at all ji. I have this "rich" family in my area who own an Ecosport and a Zest Revotron. Both of these cars are atleast 2 years old and both are busy outside everyday. The Zest goes out in the morning and returns at night only.
This is an example that the Zest is a pretty solid, reliable and comfy car even for some high class people.

I am planning to book XTA. I have read this whole thread and i feel 70% people have many issues during the first month of the car. I am thinking again whether to go ahead and book or go with Dzire AGS.

Your Reply is really motivating. Thanks

I am planning to Replace the XMS Fog lamp with XT fog Lamp.
Also, to add the Theft Alram.

Could you suggest some assoceries to make the car more interesting ?

I am a new Driver. I am planning to take the car from Chennai to Odisha (1100 Km approx.)

Do you think, It is good to run the new veichle for long trips ?
@Deepak.misra01, How was your odisha trip in Zest petrol.. ?
1. Is the vehicle have nice pick in the trip, overtaking( with people inside and /ac) - how the turbo kicks in. ?
2. How was the mileage ?
3. Any engine heating problem during long run ?
4. Hope you are happy in the end of journey :)

Just completed 46k kms on my 16 months old XMA.
Everything still holds good, just some niggles here and there:-)

I don't think there are issues with the diesel Zest's. Its the petrol owners that are facing issues.
Dzire Zdi AGS is a good car, no doubts on that but zest is fairly competent. The only areas where zest is no match to dzire are FE & Resale value. If both these parameters are of importance to you, choose the AGS and for everything else Zest makes sense.

If you can list out the niggles briefly it will be useful for others.
Sure, here is the list:
a) AMT warning lamp appears in every few weeks. Shifting into manual and then back to auto mode solves the problem
b) Music hangs over Bluetooth. No solution available with Concorde
c) Minor rattles from the dashboard, majorly from the HK system area
d) Headlights are not at all adequate
e) Constant humming sound from the A pillar (concorde looked into it but couldn't resolve)
f) Wipers are pathetic: have been replaced thrice till date
g) Doors, parcel tray, seats are so hard to operate that it takes away the complete ownership experience (this may not be a niggle for most of us but for me, it is)
I may have a few more points, will write them once I get time.

Amt warning light comes in bumper to bumper traffic? If it does then its basically the hydraulic system getting heated up , its mentioned in the manual.

There is no set pattern for that but most of the times it has not been in b2b traffic..and it appears in any gear, 2nd, 3rd, 4th or 5th as well

It's one month since I brought my Black Pearl home. Till date the odo reads approx 660~670 km. Here are some points regarding the initial experience.

1. Drivability - I have done city driving during this period. And let me tell you, I am very satisfied with the way this car drives. Yes sometimes u feel a bit of sluggishness in the low revs(especially if we let the revs fall below 1k) and working of the gears is needed, but that isn't too much for me. I have driven almost 96% in City mode, rest 4% equally in Sports and Eco. I feel city mode is the best for city driving. The Eco is a bit sluggish for me and if we want to get a quick move on, it is bound to disappoint. The sports mode makes the car a separate beast though, you can feel the change in throttle response once it is switched to this mode.

2. Ride quality, well I do not have to say much on this as everybody knows this. It's fantastic.

3. FE - My average FE meter in the MID shows 13.8kpl, while I have reached a maximum of 17.1 kpl. Given I have driven in city using the city mode and used AC almost 95%, I am quite satisfied with the figure. Once I calculated using tankful method which gave about 13.1. So its quite the same.

4. Regarding odd behaviors, only a couple of things. A couple of times the harman display did not swich on while rotating the key, although the system was on as I could fell the AC. Doing a restart solved it. Also, when standstill, sometimes rotating the steering gives a slight sound. Not always though. And while driving, there is no such sound.

A couple of days back, it rained heavily and the streets got water-clogged. And the way the car got past the water, it was impressive. The ground clearance certainly helps.

Overall it has been a joy till now to own the Pearl. I wish to have many such joyful miles ahead. [:D]

A parting shot!

I booked the XTA on 27th June the delivery will take a month. Just hoping that i made a right decision.

Apart from these, how have been your driving experience? how much have you driven in manual mode till now. Most importantly what is the FE now [evil]

On a side note, when you book a Maruti, you get your order id on sms. I did not receive anything yet from TATA so don't know what is happening on the background.

Congrats Fusion for the bookings XTA is really a good choice looking at the traffic conditions in Pune.

Even I had not received this when I had made the bookings, btw from which showroom have you booked the car. One thing please do the PDI before delivery as currently Zest are coming with either Bridgestone tyres or Good year ones. I would suggest go for the brdigestones as they are really good.

I booked it from Pandit at law college road. He says a month's waiting time. They haven't even cashed my check yet so i am really not sure if my booking has even gone to TATA or not [confused] and one month waiting time is way too much considering the fact that the car assembles at Ranjangaon facility they can even drive it down to their stock yard when the car is ready[;)] i will do the PDI as soon as he confirms.
