Re: Tata Vista QJD Ownership Review: Brand New Sedan Class (1,00,000Kms & 3.8 Yrs)

Thank you Mr.Boss :)

haha,Thank you Manoj. After my marriage whitey became as my daily drive to office in Chennai and weekend drive to Vellore[;)]

Thanks kasscon,

Sure will write a detailed ownership post soon with ratings.

Thank you Rohan,

your Baby looks cool with those shoes.

Yes, 185/65/R14 is perfect for Vista, Even I use the same for past 60k kms with Continental. Just 10mm wider from stock result in better GC, Better Grip, better brakes, better handling and Better Look.

do follow proper wheel alignment at every 5K kms and wheel rotation at 10K kms to protect tyres from uneven wear and for good life [:)]
Appu - Did you upgrade the RIM as well for 185/65 or was it stock RIM?

Nothing much to Update. Whitey is doing her job, well and good as a daily commuter to office and weekend drive to Chennai to Vellore and back.

As the left fog bulb was kaput. Have Installed, new Philips fog bulbs(Blueish White) last weekend by myself.

Old Fog bulb:

re: Tata Vista QJD Ownership Review: Brand New Sedan Class (1,25,000 Kms & 4.6 Years)

A small update(But not related to Vista [;)])

We have sold M800 which was brought last year(Feb 2015).

http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...class-1-10-000-kms-4-years-62.html#post435767

M800 is not up to mark in A/C and Comfort(Main priorities). So decided to replace with other car.

Have sold it for 45,000 bucks(1998/3owners/58,000kms)

Search of New car begins:
Was in search of car for past 2months with 2L budget and finally brought pre-owned Zen Estilo VXI(2008/47,000kms ran/Single owner/vellore Reg) on Aug-15(Yes on Independence day[:D])

Will start a new thread about Zen Estilo VXI soon, till enjoy the pics[:)]

Hello Appu, congrats for the new Estilo, car looks well maintained and Red [cheers][thumbswink] is an awesome color!

Please let me know if you did any wiring for fog lamps or just fixed it by replacing the bulb, also please clarify if the bulb is H3 or H11 type.

Yes I saw yours and Paul thread. I need some clarifications on Estilo, will call you in couple of days.

Thank you Vishwas.

It is just a bulb(H3) in different shade with same OE specs. So, just removed the stock OE bulbs and installed these. No wiring work has done.

re: Tata Vista QJD Ownership Review: Brand New Sedan Class (1,25,000 Kms & 4.6 Years)

Hey Appu, have been going through this thread since long & must say you have really maintained your car in top shape. I too own a 2010 Zen Estilo dusky brown colour, its also a used car, and had run around 40K when I purchased it from Mahindra First choice, back in May 2013 for 2.10 L. It had a few issues with the body, the boot had a dent, probably a result of negligence while backing up by the previous owner and a few small dings here & there but nothing substantial. The car has served me well till now, will post a few pics soon. Now, I bought the car out of sheer need for one, had got married in June 2012 & owned a CBZ-X 2010 model, I stay in Kolkata & dad was in Dhanbad since he was working over there, so, used to make weekend trips to him with wife, also, for shopping around bike is not advisable for obvious reasons, further we were blessed with a baby boy in August 2015, so this decision made even more sense.

My dad bought a TATA Vista in June 2012, and after his retirement, the car was at one of our uncle's house, since dad doesn't drive anymore due to his health it was decided that I would either send my (Zen Estilo) car to my brother in Bangalore or will sell it & will continue to keep the Vista. I visited my uncle's house in Ranchi last month to bring the car to Kolkata and was shocked to see the sorry state that our car was in[shock]. It had been abused pretty badly I was literally fuming inside, but kept calm, no point in arguing about what had already happened. Anyways, while driving back to Kolkata I observed that the car was pulling towards left pretty significantly I immediately understood that this is due to improper alignment & also there was a rumble when the engine was started & turned off. Made a stop at Hazaribagh where we have made our house and got the alignment done at Ceat Shoppe outlet, things improved but the steering still pulled a little towards left, also the rumble was due to the underbelly guard rubbing with engine, got that sorted by a local mechanic. Talked to a dealer of our my company who has an Indica & a TATA Safari at Asansol on the issue & he immediately asked me to come down to Asansol at BD Motors, so I did, met Mr. Vishwakarma over there who is the service manager at BD Motors, must say, he is very humble, extremely friendly & knowledgeable he knew exactly what the problems were after the car was inspected & test driven. Following works were done:-
1. Engine oil replacement along with engine oil filter,
2. Air filter element was replaced,
3. Thorough inspection of Brakes, Clutch etc,
4. Wheel alignment (This corrected the pulling issue)
Apart from the above, it was decided that the whole car needs a complete re-spray, owing to the fact that it had lot of scratches & small dents all over due to the abuse thrown at it. The car is now re-painted attached are pictures of the same. Would hopefully bring the car to Kolkata sometime in next week, internal cleaning is still to be done along with some parts i.e. the seat belt warning buzzer replacement, right side front wheel shroud (mine was missing, exposing the pulleys etc.) By the looks of it in the photographs the paining looks good, will post more when I visit to take the delivery sometime during next week. The total hole in the pocket was 38K for denting & painting plus 8K for Mechanical work for parts & labour during the mechanical service.
Looking forward to your comments and since this is my 1st post, apologies in advance for my mistakes wherever observed, will try to improve with your valuable suggestions.
Cheers!!!

Welcome to TheAutomotiveIndia.com dear jawa,
That's nice to have the car back in shape, I too own the same colored Vista(Pre-worshipped) past 6 months and must comment that I'm very happy to drive it.

That wasn't a perfect decision to have the car's parked in relatives home many times due the obvious reasons you know of already.

The paint work has come out perfect, however I request you open a new ownership thread to post further about your vista as we are hijacking Appus here[;)]

Hi Vishwas,
Fully agree with you, driving a car with dents & scratches all over is not something which any of us like, as far as the car is concerned, I have thoroughly enjoyed driving it, although it has run on 13700 Kms till date.

Sometimes you have to part with things you love in life even if you don't want to, but circumstances make you do it, not anymore, my dad will probably not be buying any more cars himself, hence am planning to keep this in top condition as long as I can, won't be selling it due to sentimental value attached with it.

Sorry to have posted it here, was waiting to get the car back & start a new thread but, could not wait since I got the pics of car after painting, was itching to share it with all, hence, did it here. Apologies to Appu & all, will start a new thread soon.
Cheers!!!

Hey Jawa,

Welcome to TAI first[clap]

The car looks neat and clean after the paint work. 38K + 8K for complete work seems to be high for Denting and Painting work, but still the outcome is excellent. Quality job done by TATA guys[clap]

Keep the car in Good condition and it will server its best for sure.

BTW, No Apologies bro, feel free to share your queries/comments/pics [cheers]

Thanks for the kind words mate. To update, have brought the car back from the service centre. please find the pictures. Found the car to be running in excellent condition, got back to Kolkata from Asansol on Sunday and it was raining heavily. With regards to the wish lists here are a few:-
1. Vinyl on the roof
2. Better speakers
3. Alloy wheels
4. Better headlamp bulbs/conversion to projector
5. Seat covers
6. Sun Films.

Needless to say Appu, you and your car are my inspiration and now will try to carry out the jobs mentioned above, subject to availability of funds & time. Oh! and I will post some more pics of a DIY that I did with the key fob, actually, both the buttons on the key for locking and unlocking the car were completely damaged I ordered a cover and a silicon cover and have changed it, I did not see this issue on the forum, wonder if anyone of the tata vehicle owners have faced this, hence thought to mention it.

More to follow soon. Cheers!!!

Even my key cover damaged due to my nephew, who used to play lock/unlock game with Vista[lol]

here are my suggestions for your wish list:
1. Vinyl on the roof - for grey color, black roof may not look good, just check before proceeding with it.
2. Better speakers - I'm sure, just changing the speakers itself will give good effect. Also try rear speakers on parcel tray at rear(not on the rear doors)
3. Alloy wheels - Get a unique design to make unique from crowd
4. Better headlamp bulbs/conversion to projector - I feel, stock headlights itself producing very good power.

BTW, UPDATE ON WHITEY:

Completed 1,20,000Kms service by last month.

Bill amount : Rs.5321

Will be sharing the bill copy by next week.

Update on Tyres:
Front right tyre got punctured on side wall. So swapped that to rear right and fixed with tube.

Current ODO : 1,23,800KMS as of today

No Niggles/Rattles so far. Just doing its duty well and good.
