Re: Brand New Sedan Class (Vista QJD VX): 2 Years, 52,000+ Kms

Yes. That's fairly a lighter bill for 50K. It would be a good case to compare the maintenance cost with MS vehicles which are always claimed to be cheaper to maintain than others.

AppU - However, I am a bit surprised on some of the items billed.
  1. Cotton Waste
  2. Power Steering Oil Top Up
  3. Brake Bleeding
  4. Clutch Bleeding
These are generally done for free, at least with my experience with FASS.
Not only for Cotton waste, these guys will bill for even a small bell pin[lol].

In bill they mentioned as power steering topup, Actually they changed the full oil in power steering.

As, I mentioned the complaints in breaks and clutch. Apart from General service, they concentrated on these complaints and mentioned it in the Bill like that[lol].

BTW, Last month during my cuddalore visit, A stone hit the Engine guard, so it made some noise in low gears. So, I visited TASS to correct the Engine guard. at that time, they went for the small TD and checked the status of the car and checked all wheel bearing, suspention, Engine oil status, top uped Power steering oil/Break oil and corrected Engine gurad. Everything was at free of cost.

BTW, 50K service cost of my Figo D in Nov 2013 was just Rs. 3015 Excluding WA & WB, which can be added as another 500 outside!
Even I decided to do Wheel Balancing, Wheel rotation and Alignment at outside. But SE said, after they worked on Front suspension, it is not good to drive car without doing alignment. It will spoil the tyres for sure, if we run without alignment. So, SE carried on the alignment and informed the same to me.

Rs.3015 for Figo is damn cheap. I have heard people saying Ford maintenance is costly. But, your bill proved, it is wrong [glasses]

Well, in that case, it's good. Likewise, I visited FASS 10 days ago to check on the Jerk issue. They bled the clutch, topped up the Clutch Reservoir and went for a TD, no difference. They again connected to IDS and checked the parameters including Clutch Release Sensor. All are fine, but the latest updates to be installed, they did it too. Gave the car back to me and said, if not satisfied, will have to open up the clutch to check it further. I drove out with no bill, not even Job Card!

Again, I dropped the car to them after 2 days to check the clutch and few more issues to be attended. They checked everything, attended couple of issues and body wash too. Zero Bill! Yet, they haven't opened the clutch as it's a major repair, but confirmed me that's the last choice as they have checked everything else and zeroed on clutch. BTW, my vehicle is not under warranty!!! I felt it to be a good "Free" service for a vehicle which is not under warranty.

That's right. WA to be done when such work is done.

Yes RK. It's a general perception and many proudly say it even without having any knowledge about it or evidences. I too have asked many that why they own a Suzuki. The simple answer is, it's a lot cheaper to maintain you know... If I ask, how? They would simply change the topic. I even proved it wrong to a couple of people and they didn't like the truth!

With that, I won't say MS is not cheaper rather others are. But these days, it can't be just so generic as others have become competitive or even better too.

My experience with Ford vs. Honda ASS also mirrors the above sentiments. I find Ford ASS (Ganges) to be more professional and on time than even Honda (Pinnacle). Two incidents as an example:-
1) Last April, I had bumped my Figo into my gate while backing causing a big dent just below the left rear light cluster. I decided to have it covered under insurance and gave it to ASS for repair. There were two other small dents -- one on the left rear door and the other on the right rear wheel arch. I decided to have them repaired too (not under insurance). I had plans to go to Mandarmoni on Friday and mentioned it to SE when handing over the car on Monday. He promised me that he will deliver it by Wednesday (just 3 days to have the insurance claimed and denting/painting done). And true to his words the driver delivered the car on Wednesday at home (polished & right rear wheel arch work was done free).
2) Last November, an Amby hit my Jazz at the back at a turnaround in Salt Lake. Totally Amby driver's fault (have the whole thing recorded on mobile). Only damage was the bumper so have to get a new one and have it painted. Decided to get insurance and since it was going to the workshop, decided to have a few other dents scratches painted too (right hand driver door, rt rear door). They promised to give the car back in 5/6 days , took over 2 weeks. And when I got it back not all the work was done. The SE agreed to it and told me that he will complete it the next time I bring for servicing.
3) Took it back for servicing in Apr (2014) and this time they kept it for over 12 days. When the car was returned, the paint job was done OK, but no internal cleaning or external wash. The engine bay looked as dirty as when I had left it. When I asked him to put the car up on ramp so that I could see if the 3M undercoating had been re-applied to places where it might have scrapped, he started giving excuses as to the cars already in the line and how much time it would take. When I approached the supervisor, the SE then admitted that he had not checked the under body coating. And again the same excuse.. bring it next time and we will do it free of charge. As if I have lots of time to take the car just for checking the under body and having a free wash.
Gave them a piece of my mind then a couple of days later some lady called to take feedback on the servicing experience. In short, HASS was good earlier, now with Amaze success they are not being able to cope. Lack of professionalism, time management and now I always doubt whether they would be able to complete the job fully (something is always pending for the next time). The only saving grace is that Honda as a general rule are mechanically build very well. My Jazz would be completing 5 years this June and touch wood mechanically I have yet to face a single fault. Normal servicing is OK and hardly the issue. Its only when you ask them over that (say for a wiper blade replacement or a paint job) and then its you and your patience.

@appu

It is really impressive to see such performance by a TATA car and excellent response from TASS. I am delighted looking at that service bill of 50k km, looks really reasonable and adds more to the VFM factor of the car. Hope if some body reads this testimony of TATA car as how they are improving drastically and stop saying NO just listening to the word TATA

Wish you many more happy miles with your Vista !!
As Gurrala74 said "stop saying NO just listening to the word TATA"
This word "TATA" & its close association with taxis is the only factor for many families to say NO to TATA cars and they would not even visit TATA showrooms. With BOLT & ZEST round the corner, I sincerely hope wheels of fortune would turn in favor for TATA motors.

@APPU, How should I put? Its SUPER Performance by Whitey
Thank you guys for the Wishes[:)]

Yes, As like Gurrala said, people should stop saying NO just listening to the word TATA. Even when I brought Vista, lot of people criticized me for buying a TATA product. And ofcourse all are not TATA car owners and they never had experiece with TATA cars. For me, a car should satisfy my needs. Vista is doing that job well and Good and I'm fully satisfied with my selection.

What you guys said is right.

TATA and Ford owners proved. how, wrong people thinking about maintenance of TATA and Ford. From our posts atleast few people could aware about the real things.

Really good to know your Experience with FASS and HASS. our post clearly explains the realistic of TASS,FASS and HASS.

Hope people will read these reviews and stop blaming about the maintenance of TATA and Ford cars.

thanks for the link and address dear brother....and yes what the cost of the alloys not the tyres..
Sorry Bro, As I bargained from the Total amount(Tyres + alloys). I don't know the break up price [frustration]

How come you got dent on the right door ?
As we don't have covered parking, my Whity is standing on the Road from the Day 1. It seems, Some Autowala made that dent while taking the reverse in the midnight, on 30th of April. But none of us aware of the incident and we all came to know next day Morning[frustration].

I don't know to whom to ask, so decided to leave it for some time :( .

Anyhow, I have paid the Insurance last week and opt for "0"dep this time. So will remove the dent and paint the whole door very soon[;)]

Lovely pics appu, very nicely maintained - an owner personality is known from the car - you kind of epitomise it. I saw some pictures of Dhaya's Jetta alongside your Vista and it looked really cool!

Hi Appu, Your wheel alloys look very good.
Appu, there is an issue in my car. When I start car, sometimes, the fuel gauge needle goes to empty position & comes back to last position (depending on fuel level in tank), speed limiter comes on & goes off. When I shift gear, sometimes, music system goes off for a second & comes on. Apart from these, I do not see any difference in ride (performance, speed, braking, AC, good FE) What could be the issue?

Hi Buddy,

Thanks for your comment on Whity[:)]

BTW, I think there is some short circuit in your car. That could be the reason for the malfunctioning of Electronic items on the car. Please check it ASAP.

BTW, Ran 12K kms with the New tyres. So done tyre Balacing/Rotation and Alignment at Vellore MRF service centre.

Total costs: Rs.935

Condition of Tyres after running successful 12,000Kms[;)].

AppU - 935 sounds too high for WA & WB. In Bridgestone Select outlet in Bangalore, the same is done for 500. WA - 200 / WB - 75 Per Tyre. They don't charge for weights if you are regular customer. Other outlets charge 250 for WA. Please check for alternatives if possible. 935 is somewhere close to ASS rates, if not more.
