Re: Tata Kite Compact Sedan (Indigo eCS Replacement)

Those were the days, people knew of Tata as only Indica like car makers. And Zest is made good by mistake.

But, I guess those days are over now as they have solidly proven that they can make much more good cars and SUVs.

If they are not convinced and do not go for them, people will just laugh at their judgement and lack of understanding the reality [lol].
Chances are huge that those people do not know anything about automotive sector and the parent companies. These people are just in hibernation [sleep]

They will simply lose one well built car. As simple as that. Never worry.

I agree with BoltFromTheBlue 100%.

I am fortunate to be in few of the press conferences and events organised by TML.
I will tell you what is the pathmap that they have decided to travel on.
The idea behind the launch of Zest/Bolt was not to topple the segment leaders or set the sales chart on fire, but to improve the image and bring consumers back to the showroom. I do agree that at least for Bolt the sales should have been higher and so was the expectations as well. But the Zest has not fared too badly. It is unfair to compare the Maruti's/Hyundai's sales with any of the new entrants.

Now that Zest has been in the market for 18 months and TML would have sold around 30000 copies of it. Not bad at all. See the ownership reports - people are more than satisfied. There will be few reports of negativity but every car has it - from the blockbuster Baleno to uber luxurious Audi A6. But in case of TATA cars, a small niggle is projected like a disaster. They themselves are to blamed for the image that has been developed in the market. Having said that, Zests/Bolts are changing it slowly. I am certain on that.

Its like these cars were the steps taken to clean the image, to showcase that you can not curb them for long, to prove that they can build good passenger cars as they have been building for years, to reinforce the philosophy that at least from now on they are listening to consumers demands, to announce that they are back.

Zest/Bolt/Nano AMTs have done that. Now with this year launches - Zica/Hexa/Nexon/Kite 5 they will slowly target the sales numbers/volumes. If failed, it will anyways improve their image further for sure and then they will try again.

You can not beat a Maruti or a Hyundai from the word GO.
Kwid is therefore a legendary success. But remember Renault never had a spoilt name as TATA has in India.
It is a time taking process and I think we must give TATA their share of time.

I think I wrote an essay[surprise]

The boot. Surely doesn't seem to be 420 liters in size as the Tim Liverton suggest?

Actually hydraulic struts are really good.

Normal spring type one will go inside the boot, so that we cant accommodate the luggage fully.

Good Job by TATA[clap].

What I actually like in TATA is, it used to take care of small small things very cleverly. For Eg: illuminated ignition, Lumber support, secret Tray under the co-driver seat, intelligent rear wiper, dual barrel headlights, speed sensing central lock, Now recent addition is these struts.

Re: Tata Kite 5 Compact Sedan Unveiled (Indigo eCS Replacement)

Okay guys, I have seen this car in flesh and if I have to explain this car in just a single line then I would say "this is still the most proportionate looking boot-integrated-into-a-hatchback. No compact sedans come close to this vehicle in terms of proportions at least. There is a nice sporty touch and the boot never feels like an addition to a hatchback.

And notchbacks are actually very good when it comes to practicality. The way my Laura used to gulp all and any kind of luggage was unmatched; bigger opening was a boon I must say.

Re: Tata Kite 5 Compact Sedan Unveiled (Indigo eCS Replacement)

^^Sirji sorry for a delay in replying and I am feeling obliged that you asked me to give my views on both the cars. Right now I am in the midst of a journey (BTW I got a call from IIM Indore for GD PI) and will post my observations as soon as I am done with my work. Within next 15 hours, I promise 4-5 pics and my opinion on the said cars in the same thread.

Coming back to the point:
I haven't seen the bootof kite 5 opened in flesh but these hydraulic struts are a very thoughtful touch. In the regular sedans with sprung bootlid, one can never keep the fragile items of a large size because of the boot joining members but here one can properly use every single liter of the boot capacity available.

Best example:
My Corolla could never carry more than 2 50kg wheat bags because the third one always used to foul with the sprung members which hold the bootlid in place but Laura could easily accommodate 3. That's the proper usage of available boot space IMO.

Sirji let me be bluntly true but it was only the Kite 5 which actually impressed me out of the entire display from Tata. Kite 5 looks like a proportionate and very thoughtful design.

HEXA:
Look at it and any trained eye will tell that it's an Aria somewhere hiding inside those muscular looks. The vehicle actually looks big and imposing; the road presence will be awesome for sure but the aggression of an SUV is missing. All in all it looks like a proper crossover now from the 'pure van' looks of the Aria. I was at Auto Expo exclusively to check only one car - new Innova and I really doubt if Hexa will be able to hold it's own in case it is priced near to the new Innova. Why this comparison? Well, because Hexa looks more from the the people mover segment and less of an SUV. BUT yes, whatever it it; it looks good.

NEXON:
This vehicle is stylish, panel gaps etc looked nice at least on the display vehicle and there was a Merc type screen too. Looks like a compact UV and proportions are really nice. It's just a bit too loud for my taste but yes, make it single tone colored and this vehicle may steal hearts; especially the side profile.

Hi Vipul,

I Echo your thoughts about Hexa design and presence as it is not at all SUV however if we talk about comparison to Innova crysta I have different opinion.

Crysta's interior is not that great, specially the wooden part gives a feeling of 80's and the side profile specially the last quarter is out of place even the rear is not as per my liking. Where in Hexa looks amazing from rear.

Am sure Tata will price Hexa pretty low than Crysta ans would be a good bet.

Nexon is a chic. Coupe like silhouette make it different and if Tata can sell it in good numbers initially it will be a hit for sure. The interiors are where Nexon scores best in the segment.
