Hi @Prabhagar, I'm not oppose with Tiago and not for publicize wagonR. Yes I can get more details in car shopper section. But i want to confirm the reliability from Tiago Owners as i can find more Tiago and Tata Customers here.
As far as I know from my contacts with 200+owners via WhatsApp and few 1000s via FB, Tiago is reliable so far. I have not heard of owners stranded on the middle of their trip due to a mechanical break down [:)].

I have just one doubt, if Tiago really a worthy and great product why it is so much available for used car market within a year. you could find more tiago with 2016, 2017 models on olx. Why they all sell their reliable great car within a year even with just below 10000kms?! [confused]

That is a valid question but I do not know the answer [:)]. One major issue with earlier batches were gear rod and vibrations and dashboard rattlings which are a bit corrected by TASC's jugaads.

Thanks for your valuable reply Prabhagar...
As I had my previous car experience(alto k10) from suzuki, i have very much trusted them and move to TATA little bit thinking... Thats why..

But this thread almost clear out all my doubts and given me valid points.. Thanks Folks!

Hi Tej,

Thanks for posting your ownership experience. Posts like these are helpful for a lot of people in making their decisions. I’am thinking of buying an AMT car. I’am most interested in Tigor XZA at this time. Currently I have a Maruti Alto. I’am planning to do some test drives later this month. Also, I have been doing some research on AMT and read about a variety of AMT issues. But most of these are related Alto AMT and Celerio AMT and another one I think is related to TUV300. I haven’t seen much issues reported on Tata cars like Nano, Zest, Tiago, Tigor etc. From this thread, I see that your AMT experience with Tiago XZA is good. Again, I don’t see any AMT issues reported on some of the newer Maruti cars like Ignis and Dzire 2017 except for the shift lag from gear 1 to 2, which I think happens on all AMT cars and is ok.

One thing that I’am specifically concerned about are the following issues about the creep function seen in various posts. Some people say that the creep is activated only after 4-5 secs after you have lifted of from the break pedal and when it is activated, the car jumps forward rather than move slowly as intended. In one of the Ignis reviews also, they say that the creep function makes the car jump forward suddenly and they say this is annoying and all passengers feel this big jerk.

Creep function is most useful in B2B traffic. These kinds of creep mode behaviour defeats its purpose. I’am not sure if these kind of issues are actually AMT specific issues or due to some other issues like gear box issues.

Tej, you have also mentioned in this thread that sometimes you do get some jerks or erratic power delivery in CREEP mode. Can you please shed more light on this. You have been using the Tiago XZA for close to 10 months now. Have you faced any creep mode issues like the above, and in general, have you faced any kind of AMT issues with your Tiago XZA.

Hi Jaak,
I own TIAGO XZA since December 2017. Creep function is smooth and No jumping or erratic movement. Regarding the starting time of creep function there is no delay of 4-5 seconds. May be 1-2sec delay is there and no issue for me in city ride. Car moves smoothly when we release brake.

Hi Hari, Thanks for your reply. Good to know that you don't have any issues related to AMT. I believe Tigor AMT should behave similar to Tiago AMT. Another thing I wanted to know is, have you faced any issues on inclines, particularly during stop go traffic on inclines. Is the automatic gear selection on inclines accurate ? City or sports mode works fine on inclines ? or do we need to use manual mode. [:)]

If the incline is modest, it will climb in City mode with AC. Keep revs controlled and donot overshoot. It'll climb with a slow pace.
If you need to maintain speed on steep inclines with faster traffic, shift to Sports mode and still donot go overboard with RPMs.

And in case you encounter uneven or extreme inclines (non 4x4 type! :D ), plonk it in Manual 1st and forget about everything. It can then take you to moon. [glasses]

I use to experience mild jerks in the beginning but now car has become very smooth. CREEP mode is also very smooth and is a boon in b2b traffic. Tiago is a real VFM offering from Tata and is a very very safe car with very good build quality . I am getting mileage of 14l/km in city traffic and around 18km/l on highways both with AC ON and 90% in CITY mode.

Thanks Sachin and Tej for the replies. Is there a significant increase in performance in sports mode ? Does the car feel peppier in the sports mode ? I asked because one of the reviews elsewhere suggests it is not much improvement from the city mode. I guess the sports mode will be less fuel efficient than city mode.

Yes there is significant increase in performance in sports mode, car becomes super responsive and is fun to drive. But in b2b traffic it is better to avoid sports mode as car is very eager to roll which can be bit an issue in heavy slow traffic. In terms of mileage i see a difference of 1-2km/l in sports mode as compared to in city mode.

I would say that your assumption is not a good parameter to compare the performance/efficiency between City and Sports mode. Or even Manual mode for that matter.

I can very well stick the car in City mode to accelerate like Manual one. When in mood, I can touch 110kmph in 3rd gear in City mode. Try it, it does happen.
On the other hand when driving sedately in Sports mode, it can upshift even at 2200 RPMs. In manual mode, I can drive it at 45-50kmph in 5th gear or push it to 70-75 in 2nd gear easily.

It all depends on how you use/press the A-pedal.

If we need to understand it in plain layman terms, City mode upshifts pretty early thus feels lethargic. Sports mode upshifts a bit later hence feel a bit more peppier.
So the FE is bound to be lower in Sports mode. Due to this difference, the airconditioner in City mode feels underpowered whereas it works properly in Sports and Manual modes.

You have to believe me when I'm vouching for a FE of over 16KMPL in Manual mode in same driving conditions where City mode gives me no more than 14KMPLs.

Where did you get these seat covers from and what is the present mileage ?
I picked seat covers from my Tata Dealer, they should be genuine tata tiago accessories.

Mileage:
17/18 Km/L on Highways
13/15 Km/L in City

Both above mileages are with AC and in CITY mode.

Update at 9000 KMs

Recently had done Goa-Mumbai and back trip in our Tiago XZA via Belgaum-Pune.
Car performed exceedingly well. We were 4 adults and lots of lagguage
- Very stable at speeds beyond 100km/hr. Could easily maintain 110 Km/hr on expressways.
- Returned overall mileage of 17km/l (with AC 100% time)
- Dint find underpowered on ghat sections infact was fun to drive in sports mode
- Never used manual mode even on steep ghat sections as in sports mode it pulled effortlessly.
- Had to use manual only once in a Mall's parking while climbing up.
- AC was quiet adequate but sometimes when parked in sun it took little longer to cool the cabin.
- Headlamps are not that adequate if it is raining a bit. Faced bit of issue while returning as it was raining.
- Creep mode worked superbly in Mumbai b2b traffic.

Overall i am really happy with the way car responded. Feels very safe and always under control. [:)]

Hello All, update at 12k kms and one year completion.

- loving every bit of cars ownership. Car has been fantastic so far.
- no rattles or any squeaks, car looks solidly built.
- with rains roads going bad it's awesome the way car glides over these broken roads.
- mileage with A.C. and city mode I get 13km/l in city and around 16 km/l on highways.
- mileage without A.C. and city mode I get 16 km/l in city and around 19 km/l on highways.
- interiors are holding quiet well and looks still like brand new car.
- no issue reported during third servicing, only had asked to clean a.c. air filter apart from regular servicing.
- had a very satisfying ownership experience so far.

Our tiago is getting another company coming Monday. Taking delivery of the mighty HEXA.
