Tata Tiago: Technical Issues & Solutions

I have recently got a Tiago Automatic version ( 1 week, 224 kms old) and the display shows an economy of 8 - 8.8 kmpl. I just filled the tank and it shows distance to empty as 494 km. Considering tank capacity as 35 litres to be accurate, the average should be around 14.11 kmpl. There are now 2 issues :

1) This average is less than the rated average of the car ( which is acceptable) but also less than the average that most of other Tiago owners are getting in real world conditions.
2) Why is the display still showing 8/9 kmpl as opposed to 14 kmpl? Is it an issue of configuring the display? Or there is some other issue? Or may be I have constantly used it on the 1st/2nd gears and hence the average is low?

Anyone else facing this issue? Help/answers/advise would be appreciated.

I have Tiago XZA. Done 1200kms so far. MID shows15km/l while tank full method gave me 13.5km/l. This mileage is with 100% A.C. and in CITY mode.
@sudeepjoshi do youget above mileage in CITY or in Sport mode ?

Latest Software Version of Harman is now R1.8. Though in Mumbai, both TASS and Harman are clueless.

I was facing Bluetooth connectivity issues after update to R1.70, afte help from TASS, Harman guys have shared the list of phones compatible with Head Unit, which as per them is latest but I personally don't feel so.

I turn on the knob lights using the hidden menu but as soon as i restart the car i have to turn them on again any ideas what's causing this ? The keypad brightness resets to 80 but the knobs only lit up when i change the value.

Got my car's air-filter replaced/updated. But the new air-filter was identical to old, with no extra layer of foam. Seems TASS have fitted old air-filter

If I am not wrong Prabhagar bro faced the same issue. Increasing brightness through IC can solve it.

Guys there is a recall for cabin light.
It maybe be connected to battery drain issue. I have confirmed recall with CRM.

got my car 2nd service done last week at 6300kms.Air filter replaced.no unwanted gifts this time.All good.Audio system not updated again despite reminder.Diesel filter replaced.

Got the back side parcel holder panel fixed.
Overall good experience.

From past few weeks I have noticed that gear is getting strucked while I put reverse gear and I have to do bit d-clutch action to get it engaged. I have asked in TASS while doing service and they told that they have adjusted the clutch, but no luck. Any suggestions?

Is there any suggestion to avoid cold start jerks?

Engage the clutch fully and then change the lever to R position, it usually happens and the main reason is we don't fully press the clutch.

Is there any suggestion to avoid cold start jerks?

Start the car and keep it in idling position atleast twice/thrice a week for 5 to 10 minutes, being a petrol car I don't think it'll affect much in a cold start.

Sadly it affects our experience when it comes to Tiago. It needs some 2 minutes of warm up time (1100 to 1200 RPM) before settling down to normal idle RPM (850 ish). If we dare to move forward before that, uncomfortable jerks are to be experienced for sure, especially if you need to crawl slower in parking lots filled with speed humps. This happens after as less as 5 hours of idle time unless car is parked under direct hot sunlight.

Which age does Tata thinks it is in? Sorry if it hurts your ownership feelings, but no owner wants his car to be "Handled with care" in this age of diesels itself not needing much efforts on a cold start! Don't get me wrong please in this regard but none of the cars We've owned (Diesel/Petrols) hadn't given cold-start troubles (Although the Vista's glow-plug was replaced twice)

Sirji can't really recollect. If I am not wrong it should be in the owner's manual.

No offence taken sir. We are pretty much used to this idling annoyance after all. I am just curious to know the possible reasons behind this.

We have got a new Tiago AMT last month which has now done 350 kms city mode but after 200 kms we noticed screeching sounds while shifting gears(reverse to drive, vice versa), is this normal? I am not sure if this is normal with amt or there is some technical issue with the gear mechanism
We did ask the service center to check the sound who said it is normal but I am not sure?
Does anyone drives amt in this group? Can anyone confirm if this normal with Tiago AMT?
