Prabhagar you have been doing some smashing comparos. So what if Akash and Vipul are delaying it. I suggest you do a TAI review of Tiago AMT. Your reviews, comparos are already immensely popular.
Hi Abhishek,
Since you also drive your Tiago in Bangalore, i have a few questions :
1) Do you face any issues while driving a manual in heavy traffic in the city ?
2) How convenient is driving a manual throughout blore city, and would u prefer AMT Tiago over Manual if given an option ?

Thanks & Regards,
Nikhil

Hi Nikhil,

Personally I would prefer manual over Automatic car as its more entertaining to drive. But for traffic like Bangalore, AMT is a good option. I use bike on weekdays and car mostly on weekends. Even on weekends traffic is not much better but I am ok with that. I have driven in heavy traffic in Bangalore Tiago (P), Grand i10 (P), Dzire (D) several times and have had no issues as such. But I don't use Tiago for weekday use and the main reason is the time taken by bike is much lesser than time taken by car due to heavy traffic.

1) No I don't face any issues but I don't drive in heavy traffic most of the time. Its mix of all kinds of traffic in weekends. The best thing about Tiago is it has a light clutch which makes driving no so fatigue. Tigor is better than Tiago in this regards as per reviews.
2) No I wouldn't switch just because of the sheer pleasure the manual gives over automatic. You can change gear at any rpm you like unline and automatic/AMT car. Having said that, I still find AMT a lucrative option and my opinon might change seeing Bangalore traffic.

Have you test driven Tigor by the way? You can test drive and let us know if you felt the clutch to be better than Tiago.

Hi Abhishek,
Yeah i did a test drive on ORR a few days back, i found Tigor's clutch to be very smooth and the vehicle itself was easy to drive and steer. Gearbox also was smoother than Tiago. Space at the rear is much much better than Tiago and driver position feels more airy than Tiago.
Car feels much bigger than it actually is. I feel its total value for money it asks.

Power delivery was nice and gradual , adequate for daily drive.
But as i am a new driver i may not be the best judge of performance of a car.
Hence i need professional reviews for Tata Tiago XZA and Tigor where both are compared.

Hi Abhishek and Prabhagar,
I am a newbie here about to buy my first car. I am a bike person and like you Abhishek i reside in Bangalore. I shortlisted few cars earlier based on my requirements and going through your reviews i have shortlisted Tiago AMT and Tigor.
My budget is around 7 lacs, initially i was adamant to buy an AMT model just cause of the heavy traffic experienced in my daily commute. And i thought the convenience of not using the clutch in bumper to bumper traffic and the easy of driving are sufficient reason to go for an automatic.
And i test drove Tiago XZA last week and i loved the sports mode, low end power and initial pick up is good and its quite adequate for city driving.
My delima is since is saw Tigor am sold for its looks. And now am confused wether to buy Tiago XZA or Tigor XZ. I wish Tata would have launced Tigor with AMT option, i would have jumped at it.
Anyways i would like your opinion and if possible your reviews of both Tiago XZA and Tata Tigor.

Thanks and Cheers,
Nikhil
Brother have a good news for you.

Tigor AMT is expected to come in end-July or in early-August.

If you can delay a bit I think Tigor AMT will be best for you.

Hi Gautam,
Thanks for the reply , i also got the news that Tata might release AMT for Tigor soon, but nothing is confirmed. End of july is a estimate of its arrival but nothing certain.
Tiago AMT came more than a year after Tiago was launched, so i dont have high hopes of Tigor AMT coming in July.
There are many people like me who would just love to jump on the AMT bandwagon for the Tigor, cant understand why company doesnt officially anounce the arrival !
May be the think it will affect sale of Tiago AMT.
Meanwhile heard that Maruti Dezire will come with AMT at launch. Waiting for that too.
Tata should launch Tigor AMT soon else people like me would jump to Maruti AMT bandwagon.

Sirji Tiago AMT came after a year, because TATA wanted to keep car fresh and TATA themselves have said the same wordings, but for Tigor nothing like that. But agreed these are rumours and nothing is confirmed.

Updating this thread after long. Completed third service recently. Changed Engine oil.
Total cost of service = Rs 13xx only which was cost of engine oil. Till now Tiago has been super affordable to maintain.
My right wiper was not cleaning properly. Ethically Tata replaced it for free under P2P for which I am really happy.
One issue which is not properly fixed is sometimes there is slight loose screw sound coming from the bonnet. This was reduced after service but still was present. Couldn't replicate it though during when I visited them again so would be observing it for some more days.
Car is at 4900kms now. Didn't perform Wheel balancing as it hasn't run too much and having it done at the service center is not so meaningful thanks to Prabhagar and Vinod sir for the info.
Overall satisfied by the car till now apart from minor niggles. Average mileage (tankful) in the city is generally in the range of 11-12.5 kmpl.

Hi,
How are the seat covers holding up? And where did you get them and for how much?
Thanks a bunch for info about what service centers to avoid!
NP madtvm. Seats are holding up really well. They got a bit dirty, but not getting time to clean them. I got it from Sachin's Autoshop Koramangala for around 6500. Price increased to 7000 when they delivered the seat covers but they considered and settled for 6500.

Purchased a Suzuki Gixxer SF FI ABS to accompany the Tiago [:)]
Well recently did a 800+km Ooty Coonor trip on my Tiago and it was a pleasant experience except the screw loose kind of sound issue (which I plan to fix in my first paid Service).
Took longcut through Gudlur while going as well as coming so it was 350km drive one way. Car's performance was not great on the steep inclines as I expected as its quite a heavy car with solid build. Even faced power loss issues in a couple of inclines. Nonetheless, highway performance and ride quality was overwhelming for a car of this price.
Max speed was around 119kmph.
City + highway + up ghat mileage was 15.2kmpl. Return City + highway + down ghat mileage was 16.5kmpl(AC used all the time except ghats) Would update a snap in the FE thread. Overall enjoyed my first 200+km long drive on Tiago. Completed 7000kms on Odo. Attaching a snap of my trip.
