Today Tata Territory Managers came home and took feedback from me. I could give good feedback regarding Dealer, Service and especially product. They were very polite and listened carefully and patiently. Finally they gave a gift. Such a nice gesture. Very Happy [:)]
Congratulations!! You must have given very bad ratings on Tata's their service/sales review! [clap] One of my friend also got a nice bottle as gift and the TM from Tata visited himself!!

Anyway, TMSC Mobile app is really working.

Hehe, but I didn't give that bad rating it was just below average. May be I mailed customer care with couple of issues that might have triggered it but I really enjoyed the extra attention TML gave. They even made the ASS return some charge for my free service. All in all TML is making good efforts on their part and I really appreciate it as a customer [clap]

Hi Abhishek and Prabhagar,
I am a newbie here about to buy my first car. I am a bike person and like you Abhishek i reside in Bangalore. I shortlisted few cars earlier based on my requirements and going through your reviews i have shortlisted Tiago AMT and Tigor.
My budget is around 7 lacs, initially i was adamant to buy an AMT model just cause of the heavy traffic experienced in my daily commute. And i thought the convenience of not using the clutch in bumper to bumper traffic and the easy of driving are sufficient reason to go for an automatic.
And i test drove Tiago XZA last week and i loved the sports mode, low end power and initial pick up is good and its quite adequate for city driving.
My delima is since is saw Tigor am sold for its looks. And now am confused wether to buy Tiago XZA or Tigor XZ. I wish Tata would have launced Tigor with AMT option, i would have jumped at it.
Anyways i would like your opinion and if possible your reviews of both Tiago XZA and Tata Tigor.

Thanks and Cheers,
Nikhil

Well due to my 1 week Rajasthan trip missed driving my Tiago for few days. Thoroughly enjoyed driving my brother's i20 for more than 1100kms on Rajasthan highways and the car performed very well [clap]. So today after 10 days my button lock wasn't working. I have heard its a battery saving feature of Tiago. After a drive it started working. Also after tankful there was a petrol smell in the car. Not sure if it's because of pymp. Evening it was gone.
Today did another tankful. My mid dropped to 15.2 but actual FE increased to 12.8. Its 100% city drive again with 80%ac. Accuracy of MID now is 84.2%. There is something wrong with the Fuelio app. When my FE increased and petrol price was lesser then how come my cost of running increase? (No other cost added)[surprise]
Could you let me know which is the App you are using for keeping track of the Mileage?

Hi Nikhil, I have not driven the Tiago AMT nor the Tigor. Prabhagar posted a nice post on the Tigor thread. If you find it good and would like AMT then go for Tiago AMT. Yes you don't have Tigor AMT but you won't get Tigor XZ/XZO AMT in Bangalore within 7L if they were. I can tell you about dealerships/Service centers in Bangalore but not have experience on Tiago AMT but heard its a decent unit. How was the drive in city mode since sport mode might not be that fuel efficient I guess.

Hi Abhishek and Prabhagar,
Thanks for the reply guys.
I test drove Tiago XZA last weekend, as it is my first car i test drove few other AMTs before test driving the tiago automatic.
I found tiago's low end response and pickup better than Wagon R AMT and Celerio AMT.
Ignis AMT was smoother but i could feel little sluggishness when changing gears in Ignis.
But to my surprise Tiago was even smoother in shifts. Sports mode especially, the gears shift almost like an automatic and there was no jerk while shifting to upper gears.
If you release the accelerator for a little bit in higher revs , it shifts just like a manual without any judder. In city mode, yes there is a slight lag while shifting from 1st to 2nd but in my opinion it is same as Ignis AMT.
But my delima is i love the refinement of Tigor's engine and i love the way it looks and sounds, yeah am a biker so i like a little grunt of the engine. For daily driving its cool , am not comparing with higher powered cars like swift or Ford Figo diesel. But i found Tigor's drive very smooth and easy for daily driving.
As i havent had a car before, mostly i have driven friend's car for an hour or two at max. So its hard for me to judge whether i should go for a manual or an AMT car due to the sheer volume of traffic i face daily. Moreover Tiago AMT is a new vehicle and hasnt been tested for 1000s of kms so its hard to say how it will work in the long run.
Am confused whether to take Tigor XT or Tiago XZA both have almost the same price in bangalore.

Hi, both abhishek and prabhagar have aptly adviced you, let me put in a word for the Tata AMT, it's the latest gen, no judder on any occasion, I enjoy it on my daily drive Nano XTA, with it's punny 0.6 ltr engine it has never given me nightmares on mall exits.

Do take multiple TD's especially fully loaded, and also overbridge and mall inclines.

The best part with Tata is the AMC Gold, negotiate this with the price, you will not regret.

Thanks Vinod for the reply, yeah i found the Tiago AMT very smooth and adequate for daily use in city traffic. The only delima remains i like the look of Tigor more :) .. so now thinking whether to choose convenience or looks.. Because both have the same engine and more or less the same comfort. They come at the same price for Tiago XZA and Tigor XT. So need more inputs..

Hi Abhishek and Prabhagar,
Am confused whether to take Tigor XT or Tiago XZA both have almost the same price in bangalore.
Thanks for the background, I tend to favor Tiago XZA in your case due to below points. Don't worry about extensive testing, its the same engine with the AMT unit bolted on. Additionally, you can buy extended warranty for 4 years and rest assured.

Favoring Tiago XZA (not in Tigor XT):
- Airbags (both driver and co-driver)
- Seat belts with pretensioners and load limiters
- Rear defogger
- Alloys
- Vanity mirror on co-driver side
- Tweeters (4 of them)
- Premium roof liner
- New driver (assuming) so AMT and smaller footprint will ease city driving

Favoring Tigor XT (not in Tiago XZA):
- Better NVH levels
- Softer clutch
- Rear arm rest
- Rear 12V power outlet

Note: I haven't seen XZA in flesh so I just assumed it has all XZ features plus AMT.

Hi Prabhagar,
Thanks for the reply, yeah Tiago XZA has all the things what Tiago XZ has. The additional thing is the sports mode option where the engine delivers more power and pickup get improved quite a lot at lower gears. The responsiveness of the engine in sports mode is also quite good throughout the gears.
I wonder why Tata never gave Tiago XZA for comprehensive review to big autocar magazines and channels.
Tigor has reviews with all major channels and car magazines and has many youtube videos, i just cant comprehend why Tata never gave Tiago XZA for a review.
Till now there is no proper review online.... that makes me wait a little longer..
and Yeah once you look at Tigor , you just think its a better looker with ABS.
So am still thinking which one to go for.. till a proper review comes out for Tiago AMT i dont wana rush in to book it..

Prabhagar you have been doing some smashing comparos. So what if Akash and Vipul are delaying it. I suggest you do a TAI review of Tiago AMT. Your reviews, comparos are already immensely popular.

Since this is your first car, you should keep mileage in mind. Tigor's claimed mileage is lot lesser than Tiago, driving it in b2b traffic will reduce it even more. Being a Tiago owner, my observation is that the car's weight is hitting mileage figures in initial speeds but once it crosses 60kmph it starts floating and fuel consumption also reduces. And as you said you will be using it b2b traffic, my suggestion is to go for Tiago AMT. Creep mode is bonus.

Thanks bro but you know I am nowhere close to those Gurus. I am just a layman with very limited hands on experience with driving, just one to be specific [glasses].
I wish Tata gives me the XZA or Tigor for a couple of days to play around, similar to what they did with Hexa. I am good at finding faults, you know [:D]
