It is more useful at highspeeds than sane speeds . By adveturous driver , I wanted to say that ESP is more useful for fast drivers whosometimes takes risk while overtaking or cornering than routine safe drivers .
Sirji The most important time for ESP to activate is during evasive maneuvers to avoid accidents (eg:- a monkey jumping in the road out of blue in front of your SUV!) - Now there are more than enough stats from Europe/US/ Australia that have proved this and have been also discussed in the ESP thread, if we need further discussions lets continue there.

The context of ESP as far as this thread is concerned came with Adventurer wanting to understand the difference between W6 and W8(which includes ESP as well ). I dont think we need to go further OT.

Gentlemen -> Lets focus further discussions on the thread topic only and avoid OT!

Question remains, what is the reliability of XUV 's electronics as compared to Polo ESC?
i dont think anybody can answer that question.

it is like questioning how reliable are the airbags on a merc?

they are know to work fine but are also known to fail in one off incidents.

@mods ,please delete the post if it is OT as per the forum rules.
We have not really heard cases of failures of ESP or Airbags in the XUV. I dont think M&M would have skimped on the reliability of these safety features. It is not like playing with the Infotainment system or LED lights, this is serious stuff!

Congratulations mate. Do share with us a detailed buying experience along with lots of pics and maybe an initial drive experience.

P.S.: I miss my XUV in here, but I am glad I will be re-united with it in another 50 days!

I'm yet to work out the exact OTR price. Expecting around 13.5 OTR
The revised ex showroom price will be available on Monday.
Plus I'm working on the Insurance part of it.
I've got a contact in TVS Mahindra. I dont know what freebies I should try to pull in. I hope atleast the mats come in free.
I've been promised good discounts on accessories, which i feel may be over priced.

Thank you folks.
I'll be getting the Black w6 in 3 weeks.
Congratulations on your W6.Do share your initial impressions on it.
Yes accessories would be priced high compared to the ones available at local accessory market. Many owners here who would recommend you what to get from the dealer and to bargain for.

Hi people Had a brief ride with a XUV5oo for 200+ KMs on hills and few off road also, driver seat is the best in class comfortable car is amazing. The Hill descent feature available in XUV5oo makes the ride confident and great It automatically controls the car's speed in the hair pin bends.
I tried to feel the difference in ESP and ESP switched off but don't know how the difference is but handling characteristics are the best SUPER Driver's UV.
Braking what I felt was better to STORME and there was no drifiting or jumping or pulling :-)

Pickup uncomparable almost like CRUZE and not at all like driving an UV. Regular maintance is much cheaper.Crossed 60000KMs.

Climbs hills very well which noramally is a question mark for drive shaft technology vehicles.
Even We tried with A/C then too its pulling good on hills.

@Ironrock: the Service advisor says if we Use ESP there will be a mileage drop is that true?

I didnt get this part ?

Err That service adviser needs to find a different job, whether you keep the ESP button on or off will have no realizable effect on efficiency. ESP is only triggered when certain conditions are met, these conditions are monitored all the time if the ESP is on, its not acted upon when the switch is off. In normal day to day driving ESP will hardly ever be triggered (unless you drive like Hamilton everyday!), but it could come handy in unforeseen maneuvers and certain driving inputs - its like an insurance, you never use it everyday but when it comes to use you thank your stars!

Today visited TASS , saw a ESP video similar to the video which has been posted by maranprasanth. It was also impressive ,but same question surfaced ,are TATA electronics reliable? ,though ESP is not a feature in storme it does come with ARIA.

@mp,IR ,Probably the FE/ESP relationship seems to be a proposed hypothesis by the SE based on the fact the driver feels more confident due to ESP at his disposal leading to highspeeds hence reduction in FE.:lol!:

Then god bless such a driver, cause he surely cant help!

On a serious note, such systems/sensors/control units are probably sourced from the bigger OEM suppliers like Bosch etc. I dont think Tata/Mahindra would bother spending a lot in such R&D. I have had only a few times when ESP was engaged (well its hard to say as you got to be looking in the dash to be sure! ) - but i have had it engaged in slush conditions too where i had to switch it off
