HORIZONEXT is for new cars only in TML that too not implemented in all cities and dealers.

Hamesha in M&M was 1 stroke implemented to all cars including the older logans and all dealership across INDIA.

Actually except rattling noise I dont find anyother problem in my 3.0L safari so don't compare Storme with Dicor.Dicor is far better.

TML was Testing the vehicle for the past 5+ years and stupid engineers have delivered us a poor quality vehicle.Storme is said to be an improvement from DiCOR(Which I don't feel) but XUV 500 is a new product itself and now the new one is Niggle free W6 don't exactly know about W8.

Storme's niggle are not having permanent solutions to be frank They are only adjusting or making lubrication and packings here and there.

Whereas XUV only replacement.

I have heard that Mahindra has reduced the ground clearance of XUV 500 to just 160MM from 200MM to give a price benefit of rs 33000, and to prevent any damage to underbody with this GC they have added a stone guard. I think this will impact the sales figure as there are other SUVs available in market with much better GC even Ford's ES has 200MM of GC. Any thoughts on this guys..

@mukesg govn norms state that suv are vehicle with more than 1500cc more than 180mm gc and should be more than 4m inthis norms even sx4 is a suv.

Its not reduced as u said to 160mm but it shall be in the range of 175-178 mm

Eco sport will fall under sub4m car though it has fc morw than xuv.

Gc specified are not maximum but its minimum and approach angle is also to be considered and hence there will be no change with buyers

Mukesh, the news that you heard is correct but thats for the new variant Mahindra is planning to launch in lower price range for Xuv, with lower the engine size, lower the GC and lesser of electronic equipments.Seems duster/Ecosport affect ha.

My XETA's ground clearance is 165mm,so now XUV's GC will become even lower, huh? But,I don't blame MnM for this move whatsoever, the faulty/confusing rules of GOI are the sole reason for this move,IMHO!

Has M&M gone crazy or what? Why the hell do they want to ruin their one of the best selling SUV and turn it into a sale dud.[frustration]

People buy SUV's keeping in mind the GC of vehicle as one of the plus points of a SUV.

@Mukesh: the information you gave only is correct the GC is 160 MM in new XUV500 its is a stone guard. It can be removed after registration and fixed with the Old guard.

@Dharmesh: Even SX4,Manza,Swift has better ground clearence.

Don't know If it could affect the driving because the speed brakers and pot holes now should be handled carfully as what we drive a cruze or Indica V2 which have bad approach angle

Lower powered M2DCR engine as in Scorpio LX is shall be in W4 Variant or 2.2 120PS shall do the duty

+1 to that, i think that people will start buying Scorpio or Safari if this is implemented. And don't know why M&M is trying to bring XUV in sub four meter vehicle category. I could have understood if the price difference was in lacs but just to save around 33k they will definitely kill the sales, also this is not a global move as no other Auto manufacturer has done this.

they are not making it under 4m .

they are just adding a stone guard to make the onpaper GC meets the norms.

it is just to evade the tax slab.

i dont think it will affect it driving nature

GC upagraded or downgraded to 160MM.

Please read the thread below:

Punto have more GC than XUV now. [lol]. Or we can say XUV created a new segment, low slung UVs. [clap].

Relax guys, I think the GC has not really been affected the way its described. M&M is not foolish to lower the springs of it's SUV by a whopping 40mm. I think if they do that, they may even have to reduce the alloys from 17" to 16" or maybe even 15"!

According to the "Indian" way of defining things, GC is measured from the lowest metal part of the body. It can be the suspension struts, the exhaust or even a metal foot rest.

In case of XUV, from what I have read, I presume all Mahindra has done is that they have replaced the plastic engine protection cover with a metal cover so that it becomes the lowest metal part of the body. Even before, it was at the same height... but since it was plastic, it was never really considered for GC. Now, since it is metal, it becomes the lowest part.

Now, since this part lies on the front axle (between the front two wheels), it will never really scrape the ground as it moves vertically with the wheels.

So, the GC is effectively still 200 mm. Think practically guys, it is not easy not is it feasible to shave off 40mm from an SUV, a lot of engineering has to go into it. So, I do think it is a smart move.

Yes, I do believe that the price cut of Rs. 33000 does not really justify all this exercise. 33k hardly matters to anyone who is putting in 16 Lacs. But M&M has simply passed of the 3% excise duty benefit to customers...
