The storme is also in my long list of wannahaves. But I'm still not willing to shell out 17 big ones on this Tata product. I had quite a few bitter pills from their service centers and I absolutely doubt the relaibility
Welcome aboard , gego , You can check following threads also, days of sierra are over now in Tata , and there is one more flagship product available in market from m & m called xuv to control leeway of TASS

Review of Conti AT 235/70/R16

The grip is far superior to my stock duellers HT. it was grip and toughness I desired and hence these tires make me smile.performance over rocks and loose gravel is impressive.best AT tires for the beast IMHO.

On flip side highway performance as expected takes a hit.noise and a little bumpier ride are the price to pay for all terrain conquering.

Handling has improved and the beast inspires more confidence over turns also, thanks to the wider stance accorded by my 7j alloys, beast feels more planted and constantly digs its teeth into the ground.I gather that wider alloys mean more strain on suspension etc., but I believe 7j is not too much off the mark.So I went for it anyway.the car does get dirty because mudflats aren't wide enough, maybe fortuner flaps can help, but I'm fine with getting the beast hands dirty .[evil] there's something nice about a mud scarred beast coming back from action[glasses]

If one desires best of both worlds with logical performance mich latitude cross should be a safe bet.hillbilly will give you a good test report once he has driven it enough.

First service report

Odo reads1450
Service centre Concorde motors mathura road.

Report.
The service assistant received the car at the gate and patiently opened a job card.though courtesy and reception at TASC has visibly improved,I would ve preferred if the SA was better informed about the car and it's working.i would rate his knowledge of the car: Average.

Complaints
General first free service
Gear box check for smooth gear slotting
Slight squeak from right passenger door.
Wheel alignment and balancing.
I pod cable connect and out through glove box
Alpine system too flat .needs tuning if possible.

I left car at 0930 and was assured delivery at 3 30 pm.had planned lansdowne after that for a nice long drive. As my wife had predicted they couldn't keep up time and got vehicle at 7 pm.I personally don't mind the delay if the service was done properly.

[BJobs done on car [/B]

General service
Gearbox checked and gear slotting is smooth now.
All door hinges of all doors changed under warranty
Wheel alignment and balancing done and report presented.
iPod cable connected as desired
Alpine system tuned and is much better now.but speakers are poor quality.audiophiles will cry.component speakers recommendedaftermarket.

Service was done to my satisfaction and car feels much better and smoother now.but when I received my car after service I was infuriated to see my beast looking dirtier than how I left her in the Morning.didnt look like it was attempted to be cleaned .insides were also not cleaned.i blasted the Sa and made him clean it then.it was bitter topping to an otherwise nice service.maybe it would've been too good to be true to good to be tata

Congratulations @Wanderlust. The wheels look great on the beast.

While fixing the wider alloys, did you have to do any amount of cutting of the plastic/metal areas around the wheel well to prevent the wheel from scraping, especially while taking sharp turns?

The Dicor needs such cutting if you install alloys any wider than 6.5 J I guess. I had a 7.5 J installed on my Dicor and had to cut out almost the entire inside of the from mud flaps.

Man! who says Tatas don't take their after sales seriously.

Reminds me of Hanumanji - when he got confused about the sanjeevani booti (panacea), he thought "what the heck, let me carry the entire mountain back home." [lol]

Hello Wanderlust, congrats for your new Storme, i finished reading the story part and your decision, it's nicely written, but we are seriously missing the high resolution photos, please do share some of 'em here.

The UB color of yours looks more cool than any other the storme has. In the Dicor version i liked the white color and in the storme the white does not have much of [evil]appeal, So you have chosen the best color.

So how far has the opinions come to your mind of owning a storme? Unfortunately our city is not seeing much of stormes where i could go to them and talk about the vehicle.

Good review on Safari Storme indeed.

I too am one proud and satisfied owner of Tata Safari Storme VX 4x4 and have already completed 12000 kms on all types of roads + even routinely on off road trips on my farm.

The ride is excellent and any type of surface is traversed with ease n elan.
I had also owned a Safari 4x4 earlier so, I am going to dwell upon my experience in relation to that.
The handling is definately improved many folds and the Storme is nimble and composed at any speeds. I have braked at 140km/hr and there was no drama. We have also tried driving over serious potholes where all other vehicals had to really slow down to 5 kms/hr. We managed 50/60 kms per hour - though we bounced and dived around a lot. Most of the passengers were scared (and later elated) but, the vehical never went out of control and the driver was at ease with the situation. The brakes on this vehical are really special. Most SUVs now a days have ABS/EBD etc as standard. What is not standard is having disc brakes on all four wheels. Tata Motors should accentuate this fact. Here I wished Tata had given Safari Storme Traction Control too.

The turning circle is a real improvement and I am able to drive easily through narrowest of Pune inner city lanes. On open highways the vehical is deceptively fast for such a large/high/heavy body. The commanding view from the driver's seat is excellent. With the rear spare wheel now gone, the rear view is also very good. The old Safari suffered on this account.

4x4 with Limited Slip Differential is fantastic. I have come out of 200 mm deep thick mud (where I was stuck in 'stop' position due to a fallen tree) with ease in 4x4 Low gear last month.

Very recently, I parked the Storme and wend to horse around unnder a 30 feet tall waterfall. unfortunately in strong current I lost my car key. We found the key after 4 hours of searve 100+ feet down stream in 2 feet deep water. Upon recovery, we were expecting problems with the key due to water. Our fears were without reason. The key worked as normal from the word go. We all thanked Tata Motors for this that day.

The AC on this SUV s excellent. One should not forget that the inner volume on Safari is morethan most SUVs.

Some improvements that I carried out:
I kept the original single din sound system (which is very good) and removed all the speakers. We fitted top quality Hellix speakers, tweeters and sub whofers (10 in all). We also carried out 'sound deadning' of all the body panels. So, the Storme now is super quiet inside.
3M sun screen film has been a great help too.
In addition to the reverse parking system given by Tata, we fitted reverse camera too.
Now I am awaiting a kit from Tata - decals + nudge guard + chrome strips etc.

Finally, Concorde Motors (Pune) have created a new 'customer experience' for us. The service is top grade and we have satisfied in al respects.

I would recommend Tata Safari Storme to anybody with confidence. What we get for money - very few other SUVs can manage. I wish we Indians have more pride in our own products.

Good Day Rajeev,

You are welcome to Pune.
I got the upgrade on my Storme VX done at Bhandari Auto on Jangali Maharaj Road - very next to the Jangali Maharaj Temple. The address is prominent and easy to find. The owners and the staff are professionals and can be trusted. I am their satisfied customer for more than 15 years.
Sound deadning cost me Rs.7,000
and the Hellix speakers Rs. 60,000+
One can go to any lengths but, what I have today is really high standard already.
If you are going to Bhandari Auto, you could mention my name. The owners know me well and will take care of you.
Good luck.
