Re: Tata Safari Storme Breaks Cover (Launch Coverage: Pg.322+)

After going through Raja's post I got a feel that Scorpio is a far better buy overall compared to Storme.
Scorpio is proven, enthusiastic and VFM.Little bit of nit picky issues can be resolved by minor modifications and component upgrades IMO.
@Jayadev, [lol], I am surprised with your comments !!

The biggest thing in SUV is ride quality is which is seriously lacking either in Scorpio and XUV too !! it is just a roller coaster ride on them[cry]

I am sorry Gurrala ,I differ.

If I am looking for ride quality I will go for a Sedan!

For an Suv my priority would be Ruggedness and reliability.

Safari is yet to prove on both fronts where as we all know it all about scorpio.

I think Storme LX is better buy than Scorpio SLE @9.95 lakhs ex-showroom price.Better brakes, better handling, better ride, better space+comfort on long drives. Also the million dollar road presence, what more can one ask for @9.95 laks ex-showroom.And the Autocar magazine seems to agree with my logic!!

The review itself has said a lot, only one needs to read it with the intentions of finding the real pros and cons of 'both' the vehicles. Definitely, Storme has killed the Scorpio but I guess if we give points to both(on the basis of review) then Scorpio is not too far behind.
Rest, it's not for no reason M&M is the SUV king of India today, they know what to make(in UVs) for getting good numbers at sales charts.

Roller coaster!!??!!
Hmm, I never found the ride of at least XUV that bad. BTW, for ride quality, we have sedans..SUVs are bumpy most of the time.

I strongly disagree except on proven part
After driving Scorpio I couldn't even think f buying it .Scorpio doesn't give feel of a 10 lakh car as compared to storme.storm lx is better buy then Scorpio sle.
Gears and the ride is too good to be compared to Scorpio.

I agree with you on that point of Sedan, but just have a drive in all the three of them and you will really understand what I am talking about. A sofa feeling in Storm[:)]

Buddy the Autocar comparo explicitly says that except free revving engine nature Scorpio has literally no advantages over Storme.Be it ride or handling or brakes or interiors,Storme literally murders Scorpio. If I remember correctly both you and Raja have said in the past that comparing Storme to Scorpio is not fair as Scorpio is nearly outclassed in every which way you look it.What say?

Let us be more realistic.

Sofa on road has not helped in Safari sales since a decade where as many other manufactures are having a day in Indian subcontinent with Suv's and uv. Guess what, just because Tata's are most unreliable.I reckon testimony of many owners in TAI including myself to prove it.

As a modern Suv most of the buyers would use it on well paved roads and city commutes with high element of "showoff" which calls for well to do specification in paper as well as in real situation(obviously ignoring the need of high quality ride.)
Safari and storme is literally failing in most of the departments in such regards.

I like Storme as an SUV for the looks and whatever it has to offer but does that warrants competently for "the best buy" ?

Scorpio looses on every front, no doubt but then comes the price gap and it again brings the Scorpy back in competition. If Scorpio vlx and Storme VX(which are compared) are similarly priced then Scorpio is nowhere but now, it stands a chance.

Yep the higher variants of Storme do look overpriced for what they offer. But what about LX variant of Storme which is priced at 9.95 lakhs and has so much more to offer at that price point(Rear discs, new chassis, elegant+spacious interiors, better ride, handling ,ABS et al).Do you believe that atleast Storme LX is more VFM than Scorpio sle?

Haha, I think you have not seen mine on TATA reliability thread it runs into pages there. I am not precisely talking about the reliability or niggles of TATA, but the driving impressions of all the three vehicles, hope you are still to experience the Storm ride, so it is half way not to discuss in this aspect.

Storm needs bit of a time for its real test results of reliability and then only we can judge it is a best buy or not.

So all my posts talk about my ride quality experience of Scorpio,XUV and Storm !![:)]
