Congratulations and best wishes, mayankdixit. [clap][:)]

I have already test-driven Nexon thrice, twice in Bangalore and once in Chennai, all within the city limits during peak hours. Hence, this question: which one do you enjoy more to drive on a highway, XUV 500 or Nexon?
Thanks j.ravi sir,for your best wishes and compliments. You may not know, but I am a silent admirer of your pet purple cheetah,(as you would call it),for a long long time.Your thread on the other forum has inspired me a lot,and your XUV has safely and comfortably carried you across the length and breadth of INDIA,more than once.Congrats for that achievement.
I understand that you are in the process of changing over to nexon (in place of you XUV).Her comes your ans:XUV is better by a long shot,on the highways, and there is no doubt about that in my mind now.But in the cities its a different story altogether.
XUV has a looong clutch throw. It tires me a bit.Its dimensions are huge!!.Nexon is compact .And therefore it wins here. Its easy to maneuver and park.On highways Nexon is not bad at all with the 6th gear and all,but Mhawk has no comparison at all!!It pulls and overtakes like no other.
So yes I enjoy XUV more on the open highways.

Thanks a lot for the prompt response, mayankdixit. [:)]
Congrats for that achievement.
Thanks again for the kind words and appreciation.

Atleast, I have something to bank upon!
I enjoy XUV more on the open highways.
You said it! [clap] Let me have some more test-drives on the highways before taking a plunge.

Hello mayank sir congratulations on your new ride and may you have many wonderful memories in it but there are a few doubt in my mind regarding nexon firstly in a number of you tube reviews including autocar india mentions that basic features like central locking not working properly, brake light failure etc. So have you also encounterd such issues and secondly how has been your experience with tata after sales service

I know all the talk going on about how the actual mileage is 5 km/l less and all that.To be honest I don't care about it at all.You see,I am already hitting 28-30,Well how low can it go from the MID figure.I am still happy.I don't intend to make all that much (tankful to tankful) effort.I never have. Not in any of my cars so far.Not even in my bike and activa.I just enjoy my ride that's all.I never bought a car based on average! All these figures and all are just bonus!. It goes on to show that I am driving my machine right, that's all.
You are a strange Indian, well if you were a Gulfy I would have accepted about not caring for the average, (we humble indian's just live off kitna deti hai, even my merc and BMW friends mention this in their car conversation).

And coming from a kanpuria, remember the chap who'll stop you at the chauraha....will pop this question.

Cheers.

Congrats MayankDixit
Amazing FE from a Fabulous Car[thumbsup]
with so many info available in the MID its difficult to ignore the figures. 28/30 kmpl even as per MID gives a good feeling.

Thanks for your wishes.
So far I did not face any such issues. It might be too early to comment ,maybe the car they tested had issues. 1st service is at 2000kms or 2 months,so only then can I comment on TATA service.

@SilverEyez.
Thanks for your appreciation.Similarly I got 18km/l,(the max possible on MID) on many- many trips in my XUV.It has become the norm now, whenever I return from a 1000 km+ journey back from mountains,MID showing anything between 17-18 km/ltr. So yes its doable.
@Nanofreak.You are a strange Indian, well if you were a Gulfy I would have accepted about not caring for the average

Ha Ha Ha,you made my day.No ,its not that I am not worried about average. Its just that already when I am getting a plate-full of rasgullas,I don't want to worry about "1 rasgulla out of 10 is missing or not" theory.I want to enjoy the rasgullas,so long the plate is full it doesn't matter they are 9 or 10 in it.I hope you got what I wanted to say.

Hi Mayank,

Fantastic review.
I booked XM diesel (white) couple of days back.
Fortunately the dealer has this model ,color available and offered me next day delivery.

But i want to wait for a month and take delivery in January.
The "initial niggles" is the worrying factor for me since this car is for my wife.

I drive safari storme (completed 5 years) and understand the TATA cars well :)

have you faced any issues ?even any minor ones?
The biggest worry is the clutch ,in my storme it has lost its softness.

Congrats for the booking.
My issue is with the gear slotting. Its notchy at best. Its not vague, but nowhere compared to my swift.
Recently went around to check the actual usable ground clearance.
Took a few pics.I am using 30 cms scale and a 750ml bottle of soft drink as a comparison.

front overhang is short resulting in good approach angle

enough clearance here

rear is raised ,making the departure angle practical and sufficient for my needs

sufficient clearance below silencer

I like that the + has grooves in it

Havent been through your user review, Sorry.

If the clutch is hard now, then it looks like its time for a clutch change. With self adjusting the hardness is the only pointer towards the wearout.

The initial lot of Storme didn't have self adjusting clutch. It was introduced from 2015 model year.

The car is performing as expected, with fuel efficiency hovering around 24 km/ltr. Fine by me,I will say. Took few pics in the parking lot over the weekend. Just wanted to share.

Re: Living the NEXON Life

Clutch is very light.Seems like a petrol car rather than a diesel.Gear slotting appears to be a problem with me only,as my wife doesn't face this issue.

Thanks krishna6239,and Nanofreak.
I did couple of test drives on Nexon. I experienced similar problem but it was on shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. It wasn't properly sitting on the slot.. Clutch is indeed very light and so is the steering on lower speeds.. I was surprised to see such a big car being maneuver friendly within the city..

Gear slotting has definitely improved by 70%. I hope it improves further with usage. Now I am getting used to the slots.I still fumble on the reverse and the 2nd gear, but only sometimes, unlike previously when it was happening all the time.

Yes both kuv and nexon are quirky but I like the nexon more if mahindra would have increased the footprint of the kuv it would have been much more graceful as of now it looks like a hatchback on stilts.

There is more grouse I have in general the line between a what can be defined as an SUV is really getting blured the ecosport started this segment by the slogan urban (compact) SUV then we saw breeza (the only car which pulls of the suv look in sub4 metre) then brv and now nexon in between the active i20 ,kuv, s-cross heck now there is even a celerio cross I believe that they should have 4 wheel drive or the dimensions to be called even a cross-over a real cross over should be like a fiat panda X or s-cross sold in europe which though small in size specially the panda are really off-road ready and tackle any terrain but here we just get raised ground clearance and it is called an suv/cross-over because are roads have enough rough pot holes and patches that it will put some tough competition to these of-road terrains.

Things I so far loved in my NEXON:
1) Tremendous torque at low rpms(city friendly!!)makes me forget my swift vxi !
2) The only car,in which seat belt is least intrusive to my body.No neck pain,or shoulder burns, nothing at all due to seat belts, which happens to me in all my cars so far.
3) Fantastic mileage. My first car ever to cross 26 km/ltr, in city,in MID (to hell with tankful to tankful method)
4) Looks ,looks and more good looks. Its attention magnet for sure.
5) Superb engineering in the car build, and outstanding build quality(I have only ritz as comparison.)

wanted to share few pics.
