I bought a 2012 Nano lx today and read in the manual that there is a power socket. When i checked the car there is a place for it but it has a cap and i cant seem to remove it.
So, does it really have a socket or is it just a provision to install one ? If yes how do i remove the cover

Its just a provision through which a socket can be installed. Its a 10 min job and can be done by any local accessory shop.
Thanks anshuman8 for your reply. Engine no. on RC book & actual engine no. do not match. I have verified both the numbers myself by putting car on the ramp in service station. The dealer (second had car dealer who sold me car) has acknowledged the engine swap issue. Only thing is he is pretending that he was ignorant of the issue when he sold the car to me.
I am getting a feeling that mileage figures I have got are Pre-2012 engine figures. The 2012 & thereafter engines return better mileage. Moreover in city traffic car returns mileage on 16-18 with AC; which again couple of kmpl less than post 2012 Nanos. Correct me if I am wrong.
One more thing, as RC book engine no. & actual engine no. do not match then I feel the car is actually "not legal" as per pure legal terms. Please clarify.
I had bought this car for my sister, who is student & will mostly use vehicle in city for going to collage. Now I am not very comfortable in giving her a car which has above issues. I am in process of evaluating all facts & figures before I take any decision.

As per records your not driving a legal car. It may pose huge problems in case of accident or insurance claim.
Press the dealer and return the car to him. Ask for another car or money back. In worst case, if he is not agreeing file a police complaint.
Who knows the engine in your car might be of some stolen car.
