Official media statement by PB Balaji, CFO, Tata Motors Group addressing the Brexit concerns.

OFFICIAL MEDIA STATEMENT

July 5, 2018

Jaguar Land Rover and Tata Motors have always maintained that the uncertainties from Brexit are avoidable and the business seeks clarity to ensure that industry takes timely and right decisions to manage the transition. Additionally, Jaguar Land Rover needs free and full access to the single market beyond transition to remain competitive which we also firmly believe is in the best long term interests of the United Kingdom.

The recent statement from JLR only reaffirms this position that a Brexit which increases bureaucracy, reduces productivity and competitiveness of the UK Industry is in no-one’s interest. As this worst case Brexit scenario is just one of the many possibilities, our plans which were shared at the JLR analyst meet in the UK did not factor them and we continue to stand by what was shared.

In the meanwhile, JLR will continue to work with government to secure the right free trade deal for the country, economy and industry.”
PB Balaji, CFO, Tata Motors Group.

Not at present but maybe soon depending upon the requirement and decisions by the TML group. Yesterday I saw a Tigor EV on road though with Indian Govt. sticker.

I think even if its available for public with sticker price of Tigor EV being around 11-12 lacs it would be difficult to sell.

Considering Tigor XZA being around 7-8 lacs on road one can buy petrol for quite sometime with that price difference amount.

Indeed the price of 11-12 lacs is on higher side if we consider it for the mass market segment but it should be feasible to launch these EVs for public once the cost of batteries comes down there by reducing the price of the vehicle and make it a economical purchase for public. Secondly, the charging infrastructure pan-India should be more accessible to public.

Compared to Petrol Tigor, I feel, the usage and the purpose of both are different. To curb the levels of pollution, the EVs are the way forward however, at present due to the sub-lime EV infrastructure people are more inclined towards the petrol variants. Once the infrastructure improves and the govt. incentives are helpful for public w.r.t the public buying EVs, people will surely consider the EVs over Petrol & Diesel.

Good move [clap]

I think this will bring cab service or the company provided transport to the employees on the EV system

Hopefully, all the organizations & BPO's follow them, even If Govt. can make a rule or guideline for the BPO and corporate sector to use EV's for the employee transportation would be a great Initiative[:)]

It would be great Performance car lineup, however, It would better If tata would have started a different brand for performance cars like Abarth, as a different brand will give a better brand identity & better equity .. a niche feeling
