Tata Motors need a 10K sustainable sales (10KSS) model to cement it's position as No:3. Tiago and Nexon are worthy candidates for the same. They are always short of a good 3K sales IMHO. In July HCIL is at 3rd position on the back of Amaze sales.

The recently launched Nexon AMT has been received well in the market. We will continue to strive towards driving volumes and increasing our market share as part of our on-going turnaround journey.”

Speaking on the strong commercial vehicle sales performance in July 2018, Mr. Girish Wagh, President – Commercial Vehicles Business, Tata Motors “Despite a challenging month, our commercial vehicles domestic sales continued to grow in July 2018 at 34,817 units, higher by 25%, over last year July. Our BS4 products were well accepted by the customers for their superior performance resulting in the M&HCV truck segment registering strong performance with a growth of 18%. The I&LCV truck segment, grew by 17%, led by the e-Commerce segment and increased rural consumption. The recently launched range of Tata Ultra ILCV trucks is gaining significant acceptance and contributing to the volume growth. The commercial passenger carrier segment also posted a growth of 12% due to good demand for school buses and vans supported by demand for ambulances. STU buying has also increased. The SCV Cargo and Pickup segment reported a significant growth of 38% with the hub-spoke model continuously evolving and with increasing rural consumption.”

Mumbai, August 1, 2018:

In July 2018, the auto industry faced challenges with the new axle load limits regulation, followed by transporters strike which continued for 8 days. Despite these challenges, Tata Motors sales in the domestic market in July 2018, grew by 21%, at 51,896 units compared to 42,775 units over previous year. On cumulative basis (April-July 2018), Tata Motors registered a strong growth of 51 % at 216,475 units, compared to 142,916 units over previous year due to the continued robust month-on-month sales performance of its Commercial and Passenger Vehicles Businesses in the domestic market. While Tata Motors will maintain cautious optimism in the market, it will continue to focus on its Turnaround 2.0 journey, with 3 clear objectives viz. ‘Win Decisively in CV’, ‘Win Sustainably in PV’ and embed the turnaround culture within the organisation.

Domestic - Commercial Vehicles

Tata Motors’ Commercial Vehicles domestic sales continued to grow in July 2018 at 34,817 units, higher by 25%, over last year July, despite the uncertainty amongst customers in the market. Cumulative sales for FY18-19 (April-July 2018) at 146,459 units have grown by 57% over last year same period. The commercial vehicles continue to be in demand as the economy continues to grow, led by infrastructure growth with increased government spending, robust private consumption and due to the improved industrial activity.

While the M&HCV segment was impacted due to the new regulation on axle load limits due to the uncertainty around the new limits applicable to the existing fleet of trucks, this segment registered a strong performance with 10,233 units, a growth of 18% over July 2017. The demand for M&HCV trucks continued to be boosted by the government’s focus on infrastructure development, road construction, building of irrigation facilities and affordable housing projects across the country. Tata Motors BS4 range of Signa and Prima trucks and tippers continue to gain acceptance amongst the customers for their superior performance.

The I&LCV truck segment reported a significant performance with 3,985 units, a growth of 17%, over July 2017. The robust growth in I&LCV sales has been led by the e-Commerce sector, increased rural consumption and supported by new products. The recently launched range of Tata Ultra I&LCV trucks is gaining significant acceptance and contributing to the volume growth.

The SCV Cargo and Pickup segment recorded a strong growth of 38%, at 15,639 units, compared to last July. Growth in the e-Commerce sector, the hub-spoke model continuously evolving and the increased rural consumption have all led to the small vehicles demand for the last mile connectivity. The newly launched Tata Ace Gold has been well received by the customers and has seen a strong surge in its sales.

The commercial passenger carrier segment posted a growth of 12% with sales at 4,960 units in July 2018. This was led by a significant demand for school buses, vans and supported by demand for ambulances. The STU buying is also showing an uptick in demand.

Domestic - Passenger Vehicles

While the consumer sentiments in the industry remained muted due to the impact of monsoon and the 8-day long transporters strike, Tata Motors' Passenger Vehicles (PV) domestic sales in July 2018 continued its growth trend at 17,079 units, higher by 14%, over last year. This is driven by continuous strong demand for Tiago, Tigor, Hexa and Nexon. The recently launched Nexon AMT has received an overwhelming response and is witnessing good traction in the market. Cumulative sales of PV in the domestic market for the fiscal (April-July 2018) is at 70,016 units, a growth of 41% compared to 49,791 units for the same period, last fiscal.

Exports

The company’s sales from exports (from CV and PV) in July 2018 was at an impressive 4,971 units compared to 3,441 units last year, a growth of 44%. On the commercial vehicles front, our international markets continue to show strong growth in FY19, with overall exports in July 2018 growing 48% and M&HCV exports growing 117% compared to July 2017.

Honda is 3rd with 19XXX units, Mahindra 4th with 17310 units, and tata 5th with 17013 units. for honda, new amaze did the trick, they sold 10K plus amazes wihch contributed to more than 50% of Monthly sales.
For Tata it seems it is now settleing to around 17K units a month. this is from an avg around 10K units before the new cars were launched.

TML badly need a 10K sales/month model which is simply not happening. But mind you, Tiago and Nexon are great candidates to achieve that. Sadly not in the recent future.[frustration]

It's heartening to see 50 Nano's sold in July, compared to 1 in June, these are against orders.

Zest and Bolt both need a midlife update to keep the interest going.

All other in line with sluggish July.

Great to see the Tiago crossing 8k mark again, though Nexon could not hold on to 4k mark. Hopefully, with the newly added XMA variant, it will bounce back to the 2nd position in compact suv segment. Good to see Tigor still above 2k mark, wish the JTP would increase those numbers to some extent and for Tiago as well.

2018 Tata Tigor to get Nexon like touchscreen system – Spied ahead of launch

It’s difficult to say more about the infotainment unit but it could very well be the same Harman touchscreen system that’s used in the Nexon or the Zest. The unit in question incorporates Bluetooth connectivity, navigation, video playback, radio, voice command and so on. The system in Zest also incorporates AC controls but Tiago / Tigor has a dedicated panel for AC on the center console.

Tata Motors’ Sanand facility reaches 100% capacity utilization to meet growing demand for Tiago and Tigor

Production to be further ramped up in FY19

Image 3.JPG

Image 7.jpg

Key Highlights:

· Contributes to 60% of the overall PV production.

· To cross 5,00,000 production mark in October 2018

· Evolved from a single model to a multi-model flexible plant producing 21 variants with 150 vehicle combinations

· Achieved WCQ Level 3 in Quality Standards

· In last two years, the number of employees has increased by 80%

· Awarded the CII’s GreenCo Platinum Certification - a zero discharge plant with systematic hazardous waste disposal process.

· Uses 30-35% of renewable energy (Solar + Wind)

Sanand, 7th August, 2018: To further meet growing demand for its new generation passenger vehicles, Tata Motors today announced its ramp up plans for the Sanand plant. Operating at 100% capacity utilization today, the plant has so far rolled out over 4,50,000 units, since inception and is among fastest expanding plants of Tata Motors. The Company is currently mapping out its modular architecture plans and will distribute its Passenger Vehicle manufacturing between Pune and Sanand to meet its product expansion plans.

Speaking at the Sanand plant, Mr. Mayank Pareek, President, Passenger Vehicle Business Unit, Tata Motors said, “We, at Tata Motors, have been working aggressively towards our core strategy of Turnaround 2.0, aiming to ‘Win sustainably in PVs’. A lean manufacturing process plays a key role in our growth strategy enabling the Sanand plant to contribute around 60% of the overall PV production. The plant has evolved to become a modern, state-of-the-art facility and is playing a vital role meeting aspirations of Tiago and Tigor customers. The plant has already achieved WCQ 3 level in quality standards and we are extremely proud of this achievement

Spread over 1100 acres of land, the Tata Motors’ Sanand plant has played an important role in the development of the automobile industry in the state of Gujarat. From a single model plant in 2010, the plant today has emerged as a multi-model facility, becoming one of the most technologically advanced plants. With a flexible assembly line, the plant today manufactures Nano, Tiago & Tigor models spread across 21 variants with 150 vehicle combinations. It is also producing engines - Revotron 1.2L – Petrol (Manual & Auto Transmission), Revotorq 1.05L – Diesel, 624 CC, MPFI – Petrol (Manual & Auto Transmission) and 1.2 NGTC – Petrol (Manual & Auto Transmission).

Keeping up with the Government of India’s vision to bring Electric Vehicles in India, the Sanand plant produced the first electric passenger vehicle for commercial use in the form of Tigor EV and continues to support deliveries of the EESL order. Additionally, the plant is gearing up for more in the future.

Being the youngest plant of Tata Motors, this facility leverages technology with over 190 robots, with high levels of automation to increase productivity across processes. In last two years, the number of employees has increased by 80% at 4,500. As of today, the plant has employed, close to 100% blue collar from Gujarat against the mandated requirement of 85%.

The Sanand plant has been awarded CII’s GreenCo Platinum Certification in June 2018. It is a zero discharge plant and has a systematic hazardous waste disposal process. The plant is using 30-35% of renewable energy from total power consumption. The plant has commissioned 2MW of roof top solar panels and off-site wind power mills with capacity of 9MW. The plant has 180 acres of green belt created and nurtured out of waste water. Several initiatives have been taken with an aim to reduce carbon footprint. With a focus on climate change, Sanand plant achieved 1,300-tCO2e (Tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent) reduction in Carbon Emission on an average per month in FY18.

In the last few years, Tata Motors has witnessed strong growth in the market owing to its turnaround strategy. This has been largely possible because of the many initiatives that have been taken with respect to optimizing all business functions in the most effective manner possible. With the revamped structure in effect at the range of plants owned by Company, the Sanand facility is being used to the fullest of its capacity, thereby vastly helping the Company to bring products faster to the market.

With the team committed to achieving par excellence performance, the Sanand plant is well on its way to transforming itself into a Center of Manufacturing Excellence and establishing the brand - Tiago / Tigor!

Just read that news in Google and was about to post it. But no, Akash has the fastest fingers. [evil]

coming to the news it is heartening to see that Sanand Plant is working close to capacity and all credit to Tiago. Now is the actual time for Tata to show they are not complacent with Tiago;s success. With new Santro expected to hit the road they have to introduce new versions of Tiago every two years. So far have not seen any refresh for Zest, bolt or for that matter, Hexa or Storme.

With competition at its peak Tiago must be refreshed from time to time.

Yes. It's the only grouse in the otherwise remarkable turnaround journey. No facelifts for any of their models starting from 2014 - Zest period.

The plant had some political drama attached to it. Mamata Banerjee's WB vs Narendra Modi's Gujarat. The shift from Singur to Sanand was historic. They literally shifted the entire plant which escalated the project expenditure associated to Nano.

Meanwhile IIRC 2.5 Lakh was the installed annual capacity at Sanand plant at the time of inauguration which roughly translates to 20K per month. Tiago + Tigor + Nano production is no way close to 20K mark as of now. So I'm bit [confused]

Reminded me of KBC's Fastest Finger First[lol]

45X may replace Bolt. Zest is still uncertain. Hexa might be having refresh sometime in FY-2019-20 as it would complete 3 years. Safari already has an able upgrade in the line i.e Harrier and lastly Tigor's facelift too should be planned by late 2019 or early 2020 as Tigor will complete 3 years in 2020.

With competition at its peak Tiago must be refreshed from time to time.
Next Tiago facelift should come with a bigger petrol engine atleast for XZ (M) and XZA versions along with the JTP and a diesel engine of more than 1Lt but not exceeding 1.5Lt
