They have only got 60% now. Remaining 40% can be won by M&M if they can match TML's bidding price. The final decision on the remaining 40% will be taken by mid October. ET link below:
Tata Motors: Tata Motors bags Rs 1,120 crore order for 10,000 e-cars from EESL - The Economic Times
Now most of the reports say it is the Tigor EV. We haven't seen a prototype of the same. What TML is really up to. Since they are ok with Tiago EV, they think, Tigor EV is also possible without testing in Indian conditions ? Hope this contract will not have the fate of TML's Marcopolo AC LF tenders for BMTC which earned only negative reviews for TML. BMTC approved the model proposed by TML but the performance of those buses were bad. Similarly here EESL is going for the lowest bidder. If the product fails to deliver, it will be the biggest reason for concern for TML once the EV saga gains momentum and open to public in a much higher scale than today.
Wishing TML all the best to win the remaining 40% tender as well as it will boost their plans to be profitable within this FY in a standalone basis. But until they deliver the first car in November, I will remain skeptical about this.
