Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

Some snaps shared on Twitter from Pratap Bose's design studio.
The Tiago cross is er... "Cross".
The Kite 5 is Sexy.
The Hexa is just menacing and beastly. Especially awesome in White.
The Nexon looks cool!

Looking at the ready-to-serve Hexas, I suppose the production will start soon, along with media drives being conducted either on this month end or early next month.
Exciting times ahead! [clap]

The design of nexon is marvellous! Absolutely in love with it. Hope to see it soon on our roads and attract people towards it. The design is like ecosport, very contemporary and ahead of the time, totally different from brezza's designing which is very basic with no excitement element. Hopefully, the next car!

Lovely sketches. Looks like TATA Motors is all set to push their cars to next level.
Some of the concepts looks like they are all set to roll down the line.

They need to focus on dealerships too. They need to create a new theme and interior and exterior designs for the dealership. A refresh is needed with dealers to train themselves to sustain the prospective customers. Now dealerships feel outdated with less attraction.

After this refresh, a media TVC will attract customers.

Also newer service reception methods and faster service practice will enhance customer satisfaction.

Kindly note: Having liked the Tiago, i visited a dealer nearby and was felt bad with the experience overall. They surely need a product makeover with a sales and service makeover.

Tata Motors bags orders for 5k buses worth Rs 900 cr from STUs

Tata Motors today said it has bagged orders of over 5,000 buses worth of about Rs 900 crore from 25 state/city transport undertakings (STUs) across the country. Tata Motors plans to execute all these orders in 2016-17.

Over 1,500 of the ordered buses will be fully built and integrated with these features at Tata Motors JV manufacturing facility at Tata Marcopolo (Dharwad and Lucknow) and ACGL Goa. The company said the orders represented a healthy growth of over 80 per cent compared to last year in the order book position for Tata Motors.

Future of Commercial vehicles will be quite tough. Now the focus is slowly shifting towards Hybrid and alternative fuel vehicles. Not only TATA but other Indian auto giants like M&M, AshLey, AMW, etc., will need to gear up for the future.

Cyrus Mistry reveals that Tata Motors is showing signs of growth. Tata Group Chairman has indicated that the ‘green shoots of a turnaround’ are emerging for Tata Motors.

The company’s latest product, Tiago has become their best selling car, registering about 5,000 monthly sales. This is the first time in years that any Tata car has been posting such impressive sales numbers. In addition to this, the future line-up of the company has already got buyers excited.

In another news......

Tata, Mahindra R&D Expenditure On Par With Global Companies

Indian automotive companies are increasing their R&D expenses and matching up with global companies. Tata Motors has spent 5.23% of its revenue during 2015-16 on R&D activities. That compares with German auto giants like BMW, Volkswagen and Daimler spend about 5-6% of their revenues on R&D every year too. Today, Tata has over 4500 engineers, technicians and designers working for them in their R&D centres.

Mahindra & Mahindra has spent 4.24% of its revenue during 2015-16 showing their commitment by investing on R&D activities. Its investment has grown radically but at 1% less compared with the homegrown Tata Motors. Mahindra Research Valley (MRV) based near Chennai is the R&D center with over 1500 engineers researching and developing future technologies for Mahindra.

I must admit, I have got such a wonderful feel after reading each and every thread here.(Each and Every word in fact). I just refuse to go let go of it. I don't know if JRD tata felt the same pride after TATA's sucess as I currently am [cheers].

Any news on Tata bolt electric launch in India or at least Tata nano electric. Bolt electric was showcased in London for test drive recently and nano electric was in auto expo 2010. Any news? I would any day prefer a nano electric over e20 electric. But the time lag Tata makes to launch a vehicle is what back firing them.

Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

Guys, posting after a long time.

Seems this is not the best time for the entire Tata Group. Need to discuss something important with you people. Need to get some answers.

What Cyrus Mistry done to TML ? Has he done anything exceptional for the turn around of the company ? New products Zest/Bolt/Tiago were designed and developed completely under his tenure ?

If I'm not wrong key factors for today's focus shift in Tata Motors is due to Pratap Bose, Tim Leverton and Late Karl Slym, all were appointed during Ratan Tata's tenure. Mayank Pareek came under Mistry's tenure. If Tata Motors had achieved standalone profits, it is due to improved market conditions in the CV segment and a new PV product line up. I do remember articles saying Mistry's actions on vendors and QC activities within TML which is great. But tell me whether Mistry has done something exceptional in TML turn around. These developments were in the pipeline before Mistry's arrival and should continue even after he is out of TML.

Just trying to find answers after seeing some tweets and reports bashing Ratan Tata and giving full credit to Mistry for TML's current position. I may be wrong. Please correct me with your comments here [:)]

TATA has not talked about commercial launch of any electric vehicles. Why are you expecting a timeline?

To take this further, for a successful adoption of EV infrastructure is also required. Charging pods to be constructed at various places an cars will need tobe parked for a significant time (compared to time required for filling gas at gas station) alternately some common standards wrt to battery sizes, charging points have to be accepted by the auto industry for mass adoption of the technology, unless this is done, electric vehicles will be more of a case study and will find a very few takers for commercial viablility.

Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

to add,

Govt should also show some ambition on this front. Like waiver the taxes/central excise/import duties (on components as well) completely to off-set the price of the vehicle.
