Tata Motors bags order for 2,700 buses

Automobile major Tata Motors has received orders for over 2,700 'urban' buses under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) - II scheme

The company had received an order from KSRTC (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation) to supply 487 buses and another for 780 buses from HRTC (Himachal Road Transport Corporation) for Tata Marcopolo built buses as per Urban Bus Specifications under JNNURM - II scheme, Tata Motors said in a statement.

With over 60,000 Marcopolo buses plying across the length and breadth of the country, these buses are also marketed in all Tata Motors focused markets globally, he added.

The company is committed to support these buses by leveraging its large network of over 1,800 authorised service set-ups over the life cycle of these buses, the company said.

Tata Motors Ltd is India's largest automobile company, with consolidated revenues of Rs 2,32,834 crore in 2013-14.

Mayank Pareek, Sales and Marketing head from Suzuki, quits and is rumoured to Join Tata Motors. This would be good change for Tata, as his experience of 20 years with Suzuki, would be beneficial for Tata. Tatas have had great products however, sales and after sales have not be able to showcase them aptly. With Suzuki experience, thing look bright for Tata.

Tata Xenon XT recieves 4 star ANCAP rating. -Xenon with had a low 2 star rating in 2012, the upgraded one gets 4 star. [clap]

Details:

n updated double cab version of the Tata Xenon pick-up truck scored a respectable four-star safety rating in the Australian New Car Assessment Safety Programme (ANCAP) recently. Previously, the pick-up truck had scored a two-star safety rating in the same test. But Tata has now updated the Xenon in Australia with more safety features over and above anti-lock braking system and dual airbags in the form of Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), a Traction Control System (TCS), hill hold control and drag torque control to improve active safety features aboard the truck.

This has clearly worked for Tata as the new Xenon is far more superior to the earlier model in the ANCAP. The Xenon double cab 4×2 that was crash tested got an overall safety score of 27.27 out of 37 points. The truck was given 11.27 points out of 16 in the frontal offset collision test and 16 out of 16 points in the side impact test.

The Tata Xenon 4×2 in Australia is powered by the 2.2 litre four cylinder turbocharged diesel engine that also does duty in the Indian model. In the Australian model it develops slightly more power with output being rated at 149PS of peak power @ 4,000 rpm and 320Nm of peak torque between 1,500 rpm and 3,000 rpm. The engine is Euro 5 compliant in Australia and is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox. 4×4 versions of the Tata Xenon are also available in Australia.

What's new in the list BTW?
It looks like they have started a revolution in their passenger car division with introduction of Zest, what other products are in pipeline.

Of the list, they haven't done anything so special with the Storme(Left a lot to be desired), now hoping to see a completely different animal out of the new Aria as well as the Nixon thing is definitely interesting.
But right now, what's most interesting is the bolt. We wish Bolt also gets the revotron.

Naa, yet to drive the Zest but interested in trying my hands(with heavy foot) on it for a hundred or two kilometers.

Re: The Story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Aria

Got a test drive of Zest (Diesel) yesterday. After driving for just a kilometre, the dude started showing attitude and murmuring "Who on earth takes such a long test drive!!!, we do not allow such test drives... blah blah". I felt like "bhaad mein jaaye tum aur tumhari Zest". Immediately side-lined the vehicle.
On a different note, it had a good pickup as a diesel car. The steering was too light! Didn't like it at all [roll]. Interiors were mediocre. Couldn't evaluate the external looks as it was night time and not much visible. On road price 8.4L is a bit on higher side. I think Honda City would be a better bargain. What say?

And one more thing. City is also having electrical power steering. Its also having no response. If you want good feed back from the steering go for FIATS.

I meant spending 1 or 2 lakhs more on Honda City would be better. I could not justify 8.4L for Zest [roll]

Zest is best car campared to swift dzire in many ways so zest is compact sedan segment and Honda city is in mind size sedan segment we don't need to compare these different segments
