http://indiatoday.intoday.in/story/tata-indica-launch-down-pricing-by-maruti-set-off-intense-competition-in-small-car-segment/1/252851.html

The 1st price-cut in Maruti's history was carried out hours before the Indica's launch. That's how nervous the Indica (and the hype around it) made the folk at Maruti. On 30th December 1998, it brought the 800's price down to 1.85 lakhs and pushed Maruti to introduce a sub-3 lakh base variant of the Zen. Ratan Tata chuckled & said "We have some good news for even those who are NOT booking the Indica. We have got the prices of Maruti cars slashed for you." [;)]

Quick update. Tata Motors has acquired a large order of 2000 cars from Siddhi Vinayak Logistics. The Aria is among one of the car models to be delivered.
Mr. Ranjit Yadav said:
We at Tata Motors have signed a pact with SVLL Connect to deliver 2,000 passenger vehicles within a year, with this being a single largest order having been won, despite stiff competition from global and local manufacturers. The order underlines the strong relationship that Tata Motors and SVLL Connect have developed over the years, and we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with them. Starting May 2014, SVLL Connect will commence taking delivery of these vehicles.

35000 & 3500..!! Is it enough for TML. This 3500 will be divided b/w CV & PV operations. Then how much PV will get? Or this 3500 entirely dedicated to PV ??[confused]

How can it be completely dedicated to PV entirely it seems would be shared by their CV and PV operations.

As Vijay posted, it is for both CV and PV.

RS 3500 Crores is a lot of money in terms of Capital Expenditure in one year. They just need to spend on tool/die/jigs/fixtures etc and new vehicles development and not on buildings and machinery since they have enough capacity now.

i wish TML had some electric nanos in major tourist destinations as taxis-would make a global splash!-why not sell electric Magic/ Iris to schools at a steal price-get the magic back to the brand-the June sales went north for all auto-manufacturers except TML [cry]
Hope singam2 and the Ze/Bo combo do the trick-else we may see a vanishing act by the passenger div!

Tata Motors setting up assembly plant in Venezuala to build Indica and Manza

Indian automobile companies are going global in a big way. Tata Motors is in the process of setting up an assembly facility in South America. The country of Venezuala will be the first country in South America to see a major Tata Motors factory. The Tata car assembly facility in Venezuala will be able to assemble 20,000 cars each year. The assembly facility will use CKD kits that are imported from India to assemble the Indica EV2 and the Manza. As time passes more Tata cars will be added to the assembly facility at Venezuala.

Though the official announcement of Tata Motors’ Venezuala assembly facility is yet to be made, a spokesperson from the automaker has already confirmed this development.

Yes, Tata Motors is setting up a plant in Venezuela to carry out full-scale assembly of passenger vehicles. We will make appropriate announcements when we are ready.

South America has a very large market for cars as it has many developing countries like Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Colombia and Venezuala. These countries have buyers whose income levels are similar to those of Indian buyers. So by setting bases in South American countries, automakers from India want to be closer to the market and the buyer. By having local assembly facilities in South America, the cars and two wheelers produced by Indian companies will be more competitively priced.

Tata Motors is not the only Indian company to have an assembly unit in South America. Mahindra has one in Brazil which it operates with local partner Manaus. Hero Motocorp and Royal Enfield have announced that they will set up assembly facilities in Colombia. Bajaj Auto and Mahindra Two Wheelers also export their motorcycles to South America. Indian automobile companies also have a fast growing presence in South East Asian and African countries. In the years to come, Indian automotive companies may be big brands in many parts of the world.
