TATA MOTORS LAUNCHES “TATA ALERT” HIGHWAY BREAKDOWN ASSISTANCE FOR ITS TRUCKS

Tata Motors has gotten into action, using its nationwide reach to come up with a 24X7 breakdown assistance service called “Tata Alert”. This service has been kickstarted across India’s wide National Highway network, wherein drivers will have to dial this toll free helpline number-> 1800-209-7979 in case their Tata trucks break down. Tata Motors claims that a Highway Assistance vehicle will reach the Tata truck within 4 hours of the call.

The “Tata Alert” breakdown service will be available for Tata Motors’ Medium Heavy Commercial Vehicles(MHCV) and Heavy Commercial Vehicles(HCV). In case of major repairs, Tata Motors will repair the truck within 48 hours and put the vehicle back on road. If the truck is carrying perishable goods, Tata Motors will also offer load transfer assistance to ensure that the truck operators don’t face a loss due to the goods perishing while the truck is being repaired

The new Manza Club class, and Strome,great cars but show you also that TML has a way to go to be number 2 in India. Feel though they have all the building blocks for great success and perhaps Mr Slym is the man to inspire great heights.

I think the time has come now to change this thread title to " The story of Tata's Epic Journey from Trucks to Storm"

Nope.Even though Storme is a great product from TATA,it does not break any new grounds.Aria till date remains TATAs most premium offering,and it was the first Indian product to have a host of ground-breaking features for an Indian car like Traction Control,ESP,4 Disc brakes,4 channel 8.1 ABS,DMF,6 airbags etc.

So the title remains as it is.

Look to be absolutely honest,when I saw the first spy shots of Storme,I thought what the heck TATA has completely spoiled the looks of Safari.But seemingly the looks of Storme has grown upon me and many others,even the people that have seen it in person have praised the way it looks.I think TATA has already passed the biggest hurdle in the way of Storme's success since now most people are appreciating its looks than hating.

Engineering wise Storme was always going to be a very good product and TATA have even got the pricing right.So even though it may not sell in huge numbers like Innova,but still will not disappoint TATA lovers in terms of its sales figure and hopefully should do very well.

It's time for TATA to refresh the Aria. Tata motors normally refresh their vehicles every year,but in case of aria that had not happened???

Yes I agree,its time now to bring not only Aria refresh but also Aria A/T with repositioning of the entire range.

Karl Slym is not a successor of Ratan Tata. That is Cyrus Mistry.

Karl Slym has joined as Managing Director of TATA Motors and he is responsible for Indian and International operations excluding Jaguar Landrover.

Karl Slym succeeds PM Telang, who was the Managing Director earlier.

The Tatas are preparing themselves for a product offensive which is set to “surprise the nation”, according to Karl-Heinz Salvos, Project Director-Joint projects, engineering research centre at Tata Motors.
Salvos, who is responsible for the development of the new Safari Storme told DNA newspaper that the company will launch a slew of products by the next 3-5 years.
Though Salvos is not specifying what these models maybe, we know the cars in the pipeline will include the redesigned US and Europe spec Nano and next gen versions of current products like the Indica Vista, Indigo Manza and most likely will also include arevised Sumo and the important compact SUV.
Salvos believes that India is made for UVs of all sizes, hinting at a sub-four metre SUV. He also said that being close to Indian market will give Tata Motors an edge in understanding the market requirements over other global rivals whose development teams stay remote to the conditions of the sub-continent.

Tata Motors signs deal with US company

Tata Motors, the country's biggest automobile company, has signed an agreement with US-based Westport Innovations Inc to develop an engine for its commercial vehicle range.

The agreement will see Westport Innovations Inc the global leader in natural gas engines, developing an engine for light and medium-duty trucks and buses. The integration of this technology will be seen in the new engine platform being developed by Tata Motors.


Ravi Pisharody, Executive Director – Commercial Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said, “As national CNG and LNG fueling infrastructure continues to develop a need for innovative, low cost, reliable technologies natural gas will emerge. Tata Motors is already in the forefront in this area.”

Upon successful completion of the development phase, commercialization is expected to follow, with Westport supplying key natural gas engine components based on the proprietary technology being developed in this program.

Nicholas Sonntag, Executive Vice President, Westport Innovations said, “Westport is developing a next generation engine technology for integration into a new engine platform with Tata Motors". The investment required by the engine developmental process was not disclosed by the either companies.

“This is a great opportunity to work with India’s largest engine manufacturer in a fast-growing marketplace demanding cost effective and environmentally conscious solutions. Our development schedule is accelerated and we believe it can be accomplished given the substantive market size and interest in natural gas vehicles in India", added Sonntag.
