Re: Tata Motor’s Cars – The Ultimate Reliability Survey
Its a pending project, I have collected all I need to do it , just need to find time.
Its true, the Sumo might itself feel like a step child given our treatment - but as it goes everything has a purpose, the sumo running is very limited now and in rural places only. I intend to replace the tires with something cheap and hard, i sucked the seven lives out of it already. Regarding painting intend to do a DIY job someday - just need to find time for it, I have the implements already. Regarding the carpet lucky we have only got those things , I would expect a small shrub or a tree coming out. Yes it requires some attention.
Old basic DI engine with hardly anything that can go wrong, forget fancy electronics - no ac nor even power steering - there isn't much to go wrong hence I feel its perfect for the purpose! Mechanically its still pristine - when we bought it, it was between this and the tempo trax( which was pretty popular then) - the decision went right i think!
Great review on the survey, my only suggestion is to keep the car with yourself forever and maybe you can restore it as a comfortable vehicle for rural runabouts. Those interiors are decent IMO.
@IR
Mind blowing and excellent story of your Sumo !! Kudos to Sumo and you. A small doubt
Why you are not getting that painted in rusted areas at least if you want to retain the original paint and why you are not changing its tyres looking the places it runs. Also you need to fix that carpet area I feel

Ah, reminds me of my SUMO. We owned a similar model for 2 years 1998-2000. He had so many family outings, us kids at the very back. Never will forget.
