Re: Tata Manza Detailed Test Drive Report

Guys there is news by some of our community friends that Tata has chopped the prices of Manza by a whopping 45000 rs, but when I checked official manza website today the price of top end elan comes as 7,86,000 rs ex showrooom in my city, so where is the much talked abt price correction, I am really confused [confused][thinking]

For every car manufacturer, after sales is a problem. I had both Maruti zen and Tata manza. It all depends upon the relationship we build with the service center. Maruti ASS is equally bad. And as for niggles in a new cars, you can read owners complaining about their new Scorpios, Dizire, etc. So Tata is not an exception.

Re: Tata Manza Detailed Test Drive Report

Woooow, yesterday got the privilege of driving my first manza elan tyrian wine colour. It was a test drive car organised by "Basudev Auto" Hazaribag. My observations of the car are below. Remember i drive a petrol indica for daily basis and please see my comments in that light:

LOOKS: Manza elan in wine colour looks hot and fabulous, its so tantalizing that i felt like buying it witjout a TD.When compared with verito and dezire it looks definitely a 'class apart'.Now i know why the japanese sent tanuka san as a spy.

INTERIORS: Manza has got soft touch interiors with purple-beige combo.Initiallt i thought that i won't like purple colour, but just as i sat in the car i almost felt in love with the dash and more so with the steering itself.

ENGINE/ PERFORMANCE : Manza thanks to 90 ps power is a rocket, initially i was worried abt turbo lag of the diesel motor, but once i floored the throttle in the 1st gear the car absolutely moved frwd like a petrol car,and in 2nd gear as soon as i went past 2200 RPM, whoooosh the turbo kicked in after that i was like this  throughout my drive, man this car will smoke my petrol indica whithin nano seconds, what pick-up, what smoothness. The gear box was awesome, soft, slick, precise, the clutch, brake and throttle were also soft and mighty responsive. All in all the best tata car ever, period.

RIDE & HANDLING : Manza has got awesome space, ride and handling, yes you read it right handling, the car swallowes potholes like snacks and handles remarkably well for a tata, thank you tata motors for developing manza. The NVH of this car is also supreme.

All in all a fabulous car, if i was in the market to buy a 8 lac sedan i would look no further and buy this amazing product by tata, hell i feel extremely jealous of the manza owners now after driving it, hell they enjoy it on a daily basis , wow thats exactly what i can say.LONG LIVE THE MANZA[clap]

Cornering and body roll is worst in segment When it comes to Manza. It gets Nightmarish sometimes.Best used as chauffeur driven economy saloon . -Best buy.

I agree and disagree with you at the same time, Manza may not be a punto yet I loved the ride/handling and body behaviour of Manza. In fact I was surprised how much tata have improved from the days of indica xeta which i own .Trust me after feeling manza i feel like changing my avtar from THE XOVER to 'THE MANZA' [lol]

Hi Xover, I was away for some time.

I take your point on looks (only the rear boxy stance is an issue)

Interiors are very good and after Feb 2011 its excellent with nice colour combo and premium looking soft touch plastics. (It is always welcoming once you enter inside and after a drive don't feel like coming out of the car - Its a combination of ergonomic seats and pleasent interiors.
Yes. You have a be jealous - we are enjoying a royal drive everyday.

Ride quality is excellent.

Handling is not bad either. (I see the rear view mirror to ensure nobody is close behind and do a zig zag at the same speed when there is mud/water/cow dung on the road just to avoid it getting splashed on the sparkling clean car) It handles well all the time.

Only issue is body roll because of its tall design (its a small issue for me since I drive slow in turnings and curves because of the very nature of Indian roads - anything can come against us in the wrong side).

Re: Tata Manza Detailed Test Drive Report

Tata Indigo+Manza sales in the month of November 2011 = 6213 .

It is not at all impressive, manza in my book is such a good car that it should alone post sales figure of 10,000 units a month.Sales figure of only 6,000 units for cars like e-CS and Manza combined is pathetic at least to say [frustration]

@ autosafari

man only after driving manza i realized how good a car it really is, no review can give you that feeling what you get when you drive a manza. You are a lucky man buddy:agree:

How does body roll is deleterious?:help: I have experienced it in my old Indigo, it gives a scary feel. But apart from that, is there anything else?
Yes, on chauffeur driven part, :agree:

@xover, IMO, TASS won't be able to handle more number of manza s . They struggling to serve the present no.of manzas, how they will handle 10 k manzas.? So medium sales
figures are no problems for existing owners.correct me if I am wrong.

Yes, on chauffeur driven part,
Body roll is sideways behaviour of car in regards to steering inputs. On chauffeur driven part, well if you are tossed right and left during sharp cornering and feel like evicting your morning breakfast then regard it as body roll, and that's what is deleterious[lol].

But seriously as you would have read above, I greatly admire body control of Manza, its the best TATA has ever made.Fun to drive, that's what it is for sure.[:)]

The number of Manzas sold for the last few months has increased vehemently,so like it or not you are going to face this problem. But the question on first place is,why should it be a problem, are TASS mechanics totally incompetent or what?

Re: Tata Manza Detailed Test Drive Report

@xover, thanks for enlightenment. I have also not experienced body roll in my manza.

Present TASS mecanics are competent, but right now they are unable to make spares available in time, most of the time they are unable to recall the promises made last time about availability of a simple spare part. Also they are unable /unwilling to complete paper formalities regarding warranties, service booklets etc. We have to stand there and get the half of the work done, forgotten by them.
Also, the existing TASS facilities are overwhelmed with workload, they are not adding the new space, facility but are adding new launches ,also fiat has eaten half of the facilities.

So increase in number of sold manzas, will lead to more time loss, more silly excuses, delayed appointments, deliveries. Pre existing owners will suffer.
