Re: Glow Plug Indicator Warning in Manza

update:

another Glow Plug have gone kaput . Its better to replace all the Plugs. Have to replace it in a T.A.S.S, and will post the updates.
Its not manza specific KPS , but many cars need glow plug replacement @60 kkm /3 years, I have experienced it in my wagonr, Indigo too .Being electric item , it requires replacement earlier sometimes, some lucky owners do not come across it till 1 L km.

However it is good that the DIS is diagnosing it in time.

[confused]Hi All,

I am new to this community. I own a manza 2012 Elan QD90. I am facing a very strange issue. I hear continuous "tic tic" sound of high intensity even when driving on highways. The sound increases when the vehicle moves over humps or pot holes. I have tried driving the car by unlociing the rear seat. But, I still face the issue. I figured out that the issue comes from the speaker panel. I spoke to the service advisor. They have tried all permutations and combinations. But, still I get the noise. Has any one faced this issue before? Any ideas on why this is happening?

No problems in these first 2 months and 3500 kms of ownership.

On the very first day the wheels wobbled , and the car shakes like hell at 100kmph.

Asked for the rear rim replacement in FOC , and they claim the bend was removed.

overall after this rectification , the car is smooth and i have tested till 160kmph with the SA to confirm [evil]

the regular FE is 18 ~ 19 kmpl in highway , DIS showing 19.6 & 20.4
In city though i cannot check fill to fill method , i feel it is near 12 or 13kmpl.

^^ Nice to your the updates, still waiting for your ownership review. The City FE is very low as compared, I extract 16-17 kmpl in Bangalore city.

Hey Buddy, I have a Tata Manza Aura Qjet which has run 93000 kms and is 4 and a half years old. There was only problem from day one and that is giving very bad fuel efficiency. Tata motors unable to find the problem. 3 drivers drive the car that's me, my dad and my chauffeur. How ever hard we try to drive efficient the fuel efficiency is still bad. Any part inside the engine bay needs replacement? Tyres are maintained up to the required by using nitrogen air. Anything must have gone wrong in the engine. Please help.

Really don't know what 's the solution, but I don't think anyone here would be knowing solution as car must have gone 10 to 15 times to TASS & still they are not able to point out the reason behind low FE.

It is better to sell it off and purchase some other car.

I got call that my car is ready. I went to collect it.
I saw mirror is changed and one guy brought it from outside. I checked color and it was silver painted whereas my car color is pearl white !!!
Then I did test drive.
I saw good pickup, clutch working as new car - very smooth. No more suspension issues.
I reported for gear lever play. When car in first/second/third gear just remove leg on break and then slowly from clutch, then gear lever goes somewhat backside. They changed lever assembly but this problem is not sorted out !!! So I didn't get why exactly they replaced lever assembly?
Then I reported for steering play. The problem was power steering was so loose feeling that it work like manual. When you turn and leave hands on steering it should come back to normal position. But my steering doesn't move back. I don't think problem is fixed. They said changed of some bearing and did wheel aliment, but basic problem is not fixed at all!!!

They changed clutch plates, did EGR cleaning for pickup, fixed dashboard noise, changed bush etc. Some problem fixed.

So for mirror paint and remaining issues I asked them the check again.
So much frustrating that this is third day and car is not yet ready!!!

I too own a Manza (82000 km now) and get the servicings & running repairs done at Phoenix katraj. I feel Phoenix is better than other dealer owned TASS though there is scope for them to improve.
Here is my ownership review & a thread started by me for Tyre replacement.
http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...review-tata-struggles-solve-clutch-issue.html
http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/accessories-modifications/12651-new-tyres-tata-manza.html
5. Ac feel like not working on highway after 1 hr of drive
Ideally, they should remove the AC air intake filter and clean it with air under pressure at every servicing. But I doubt if they really do it unless asked by owner else such problem should not occur . Also they use some Aircon cleaning solution which helps improve cleaning.
clutch is hard
My Clutch is replaced thrice, yet it gets hard whenever driven in b2b traffic for long time

Dashboard noise
In my car, there was same problem which TASS could never diagnose & fix. The other day, myself diagnosed it to be loose DIS display panel, inserted 5 rupee coin wrapped in a cotton cloth between main dashboard & panel and the rattle is fixed now. Then the TASS SA learnt about it from me, [clown]

Air filter body, one screw is missing/broke !!!
Can you please elaborate on this? If possible, post a pic.

Really frustrating [frustration], but not unusual in case of a TASS.

I reported for gear lever play. When car in first/second/third gear just remove leg on break and then slowly from clutch, then gear lever goes somewhat backside. They changed lever assembly but this problem is not sorted out !!! So I didn't get why exactly they replaced lever assembly
Tatas have recommended replacement of a gear wire under warranty, just check if they have done it?
changed bush
Recently, @77000 km they have changed my car's front bushes, SA told me lifespan of the bush is approx 40000 km. But in my case it lasted longer.
So much frustrating that this is third day and car is not yet ready!!!
This is usual experience at TASS and Phoenix is not immune to it. We need to keep thrice daily followup on progress of the work. And most importantly we need to confirm availability of the parts to be replaced in their stores before leaving the car there.

Air filter body, one screw is missing/broke !!!

On engine there is filter cap, written as quadrajet on it. It have two screw. I will add picture on weekend.

I replaced tyres at around 25000 km. Same brand same size ..bridgestone.
Before I have replaced ac fan, 2 3 months back I replaced battery also.

I collected my car on third day. Because of mirror issue ( the painted in silver, and mirror body was also pained), they have to paint it again and also painted my second mirror for free.

All major problems got fixed. I paid 26k and around 7k was labour.
After test drive and long long drive to jm road, I am very much pleased with the work done.

Pickup and engine power is improved lot. Looks like driving new car. [:D]
EGR cleaning improved it. And may be new clutch changes.
Mine is 3 and half yr old.

Steering problem seems to be fixed without changing any part. After 3rd day trail in morning i clearly told that i am not happy with steering and dnt want to replace its assembly. They fixed the problem that i dnt knw how.

For gear lever original problem not got fixed. If u put car in 1/2/3 gear and leave ur break, and then just leave clutch a bit, gear goes back a bit. but as leaver is new, feeling of it is good. This problem is in all car, this is what phonix think.

I will update whole work list when get some free time. This week going busy.

Also thinking of changing horn to skoda like horn.
Magwheels is on my list but its costly and dont yet know any good dealer in pune to get good discount. I liked Plati.

I don't drive daily. Only use sometime on weekend and drive on solapur highway. This weekend planning for it.

Gear wire i dnt knw about warranty. I will ask for it. I changed bush or something for what tata called back manza.

Ac filters they changed. Will see on weekend how it works.

Dashboard noise is fixed but now it is coming from somewhere else [frustration]
Will do some R&D for it on weekend.

Yes you are right. This problem even exists in my car. If I release the clutch then the gear lever moves back a bit. But that's not a major problem as I have seen like this in my uncle's swift too. Can anyone break up andtell me the cost of the timing chain in Tata Manza. Tata service centre is telling me that the full timing chain replacement will cost me around 20k including labour because the engine had to be removed for replacement and its a quiet complicated job they said to me.[confused]

@Aniruthan, following are the quotes dragged from my ownership thread about details of my timing chain replacement. Few days later, I needed to replace the auto pretentioner also, details are on my ownership thread.
Yesterday also I had to get only 70000 km servicing done.

They started the work immediately. Soon service people told me that there is some noise from the timing chain & needs replacement. I told them to get the 70000 km servicing done now & see if they can delay the chain replacement & hand over me the estimate for the same.
A senior person checked the car & said timing chain replacement can be replaced after 2kkm without any issues.
They gave me the estimate for timing chain replacement, it was as follows.
Timing chain - Rs 1050
Auto tensioner - Rs 660
Timing pad - Rs 1180
Sealent - Rs 600
Anabond tube - Rs 100

OIL pump - Rs 5990
water pump - Rs 3830.
Alternator belt - Rs1700
Adalor - Rs 1400
Auto tensioner - Rs 2400
Total Rs 18,910 taxes & labour extra

I said, why so much? The SA said all the things mentioned are mandatory to replace along with timing chain.
I approached the senior person who said things in bold need not be done and are to be done @100 kkm.
So finally, estimate came down to Rs 3590 (labour, taxes extra).

I went through some other forums on the timing chain life & found following things.
MJD engine of Fiat Lineas from initial batches were needing replacement @60 kkm. However this replacement was not mentioned in servicing schedule in the owner's manual . Later on fiat included it as a routine replacement item in the schedule.

Same was true about Manza. Tatas issued a circular to include it from January 14,
To my surprise, I was not informed about it by the TASS @60 kkm servicing.
Vw vento, cruze, etc also needed timing chain replacement @60 to 70 kkm.
As per owner manual Verna CRDI timing chain replacement schedule is @60 kkm
In case of i 20 & xcent, it is 80 kkm.
For Logan it is 60 kkm.

However, for Suzuki swift, Chevy sail (runs on similar MJD/QJD type engine) &Toyota Etios timing chain(as per manual) is immortal. Also Etios comes with immortal fuel filter (doesn't require fuel filter replacement at all vis a vis Manza which requires fuel filter replacement every 20 kkm).

I took my car to Phoenix Automobile katraj Pune last Sunday. They provide only ASS & don't sell the cars*

Particulars or name of the work carried out -Timing chain replacement

Car was called at 9:30 AM, however I reached there at 10:30 am, They accepted it & said that it will be delivered back in the evening, however the SA came to me at 12:45 & said that car will be delivered next day evening! I raised my voice till it reached the senior (probably owner), He asked them to do overtime & deliver by 9:30 pm, the SA & mechanic agreed and delivered it at 10pm

Difference in the performance of the car after the work is complete. -
1)Timing chain replacement - the engine firing noise became smooth, also the FE seems to be improved, yet to confirm by tankful to tankful method.
Clutch also feels softer since then, don't know if there is any relationship with timing of the car.

Particulars of the cost incurred, fully paid by me
Pad (code - 59089475) - Rs 419
Pad (code-59089471) Rs 630
Chain tensioner- Rs 760
Bush chain inavis - Rs 933
Anabond 666 T (25 gm)-Rs 88
50 ml Loctite sealant - Rs 654
Staplon tape - Rs 18
VAT - Rs 490.

Diagnosis charges of timing chain tensioner & timing - Rs 1250
Water pump renew labour charges - Rs1078.

Total for Timing chain replacement -Rs 6320

Petronas synthetic oil (previously same oil was called as semisynthetic by them) top up (1 lit) - Rs 460.*
If someone needs to replace the timing chain it is better to do it at the time of the routine servicing as oil is replaced by default at that time & you won't need a top up at the time of timing chain replacement. However timing chain replacement should not be postponed just to save few hundred Rs on top up.
I replaced tyres at around 25000 km.
Why so early? In Pune and periphery they should atleast last for 40 kkm IMO.
Which tyre dealer?
Before I have replaced ac fan,
Was it under warranty?
2/ 3 months back I replaced battery also.
What's the manufacturing date of the Car?
How much did the battery cost? And what make?

I will update whole work list when get some free time
Awaiting bro.
Also thinking of changing horn to skoda like horn.
I have already changed them to Skoda type horns and they sound good.
Magwheels is on my list but its costly and dont yet know any good dealer in pune to get good discount.
Is there any problem with stock steel rims?

Poona Motors at Pulgate, near MG bus stand, camp is one of the big dealers, he has lot of variety. Also there are few dealers near Pandit 's TATA showroom at Tilak Road.

Ac filters they changed.
In my car they never changed it and TASS supervisor told me that it is immortal and only need s cleaning @every servicing.
