One of friend is in TATA motors. yesterday he said , Currently we are making 30 - 40 Hexa per day - So Approximately 1000 Hexa per month. and they have planned to make it 80 Hexa per days. looking at this number 80x30 days = 2400 No. Tata can not deliver hexa more than 2400 No. in the march. SO march sale we can easily figure out.

but he also added , they were going to launch HEXA in December 2015 but hey were not satisfied with the testing so they postpone the launch , but now this is completely sorted out vehicle. and quality "was and is " prime importance.
As per the leaked info from Tata plant, the installed capacity for Hexa production is 1000 to 1200 units पर month and thats what we will see on monthly basis.

The same way as installed capacity for Tiago is approximately 4800 to 5000 but Tigor will have high production capacity as per market trend and demand of sedan models.

Let's see if high demand can make Tata to increase the production capacity
As I already mentioned in my previous message about production capacity. this month they have increased production capacity up to 80 Hexa day. Might they will touch 2000 Number this month.

It this news is true then all i have to say is pathetic planning!
You have a VFM product in your hands and now because of poor capacity planning you are asking people to wait more. I don't think people will eagerly wait for a TML car for more than 3 months waiting period. If you want to eat into competitor sales in that segment then TML should be in a position to roll out >2500 Hexas per month.

Its not that they can increase capacity like that. If you increase shifts even then the suppliers might not be able to produce enough supplies/spares to meet the increased capacity. What I learnt from my experience in automotive industry is if you increase the shift then you go up to 160% against the original installed capacity which means 1800 units.

I hope Tata suppliers will cooperate and generate enough to meet the demand[:)]

It's not the poor capacity planning, its about the cost return(ROI) and availability of the supplies. As per the reports there are lot of imported parts which is used in Hexa and we don't know how the supply chain is in sync with demand. I assume the Automatics are in huge demand and the tranny is from foreign origin so we might see high waiting period.
But yes Tata should take some risk and order in advance to meet the demand and give a heavy fight to competitors[glasses]

Agreed that there are certain parts coming from other locations but here we are talking about an OEM who is producing cars for more than two decades. If it was a new comer we could give the benefit of doubt that they are not able to understand the consumer demand, planning issues etc. They showed this during production of Tiago too and going by this i feel they will mess up with Tigor and Nexon as well. I personally feel that Tiago is a car which should have clocked >10,000 units but sadly it is still hovering around 50% of that mark. If you have to capitalize on a good product and penetrate a highly competitive market then it is always volumes because the glamour fades away very quickly.

Yes if TML aspires to be the #3 car manufacturer in India, take those risks and meet the demand.

I very much fear that you are right, Godfather. I have had this fear for long - that for one reason or another, TM has not been able to get its act together in the way that M&M has managed to do, despite their occasional stumbles (KUV & Nuvosport are still fresh memory). I had hoped that with JLR in their kitty & a decent gestation period they would be raring to go. I guess the rarefied air of the JLR products vs the largely hoi polloi Indian market has not yet meshed & gelled with the bulk of the work force.

Read somewhere that even though they have enough capacity, they are producing in less numbers than the demand in order to keep a constant demand and to avoid inventory. 5K Tiagos every month is consistent now and supply chain is tuned for that. What if they ramp up production to 10K and demand is only 7.5K. Next month they can't reduce it and sudden fluctuations will not go well with the suppliers. Also Tata still is not anticipating their products to sell in huge numbers. But I would say 2K Hexa production is need of the hour.

I would be happy if Tata Motors is able to supply 1200 to 1500 HEXAs per month for initial few months. If the word of mouth is good, demand will continue to remain strong and then they can ramp up production to something like 1800 to 2000 units a month. I don't think we should expect Tata Motors to do Innova like numbers from HEXA, atleast for the next 1 or 2 years.

I intend to put HID kit for low beam & fog lamps.

This is available at the dealership from indigenous supplier .

As per SA, it is plug & play. No cutting of wires. So no issue of warranty. Price quoted is Rs 10K+10K. Supplier's technician will do the fitment against advance appointment.

Has anybody done this.? Your views will be very much needed as the dealer is far away from my residence.

I have changed stock Osram head light bulbs to Philips Xtreme Vision plus in my Brezza. The difference is quite noticeable.
Intend to change upper head lights of Hexa as well.

Thanks in advance.
I would rather advice you to just swap out the headlamp bulbs with Philips Extreme Vision Plus. Yes, they are available in H1 and H7 sizes too. My personal view or the HID kit is "No". The HID kits available here are mostly in the 6000K range which glare the eyes of the on coming traffic. And the Xtreme Vision Plus should actually be more than sufficient. Since the beams are separate for High and Low in the Hexa, you will be enjoying all the 2*55+2*55 = 220W of lighting. which is as good as day light.

Hello Ilangop,

Thank you for the above information. I too needed some clarity on this whole HID/Xenon mess. The dealers selling these kits seem to be good sales reps & cannot give any satisfactory technical answers.
I think I shall take your suggestion when it comes time to change!

Just installed at dealership, HID kit for low beam & fog lamps 5000 kelvin. Seems much much better than stock bulbs.
No cutting of wires, fitment at dealer's accessory section with bill and warranty. So no vehicle warranty issue.
Cost :10k+10k

I requested the fitter to replace stock high beam lamps (osram night breaker) with Philips xtreme vision plus which I purchased form a shop at Opera House.

He refused because the bulb was not easily accessible.

Finally SA called an expert from service center. He also found it very difficult.
He had to remove air filter for driver side bulb & the whole plate above radiator for passenger side bulb. He also had to loosen the lamp assembly & somehow managed to replace the bulb.

This is a terrible design flaw.
Hope the bulbs last long.

I didn't see much difference between stock Osram bulbs & Philips.
Thinking of LED bulbs for high beams.
Can anybody suggest LED bulbs?

I also put some crome ornaments. Will post the photos in a day or two.

Regards

Since you mention that there's not much difference after fitting the Philips, I'd assume that TM have done due diligence when choosing the stock bulbs.
Also, stock lamps last indefinitely (my Scorpio's lamps lasted for 8 years before needing replacement), so a one time replacement cost (with associated time delay, apart from cost of lamp) should not be such a hassle.

So I'd say no design flaw here![:)]

Did a test drive of the Hexa today.

Have to say, I am impressed. The car looks very good in flesh. The car looks disproportionate in pics at some angle, but totally different story in flesh. The ambiance of the cabin is also excellent. The way it drives over bouncy roads, just superb. This not only the best TATA car yet, its the best SUV/MUV/UV. Dare I say even compared to the Innova crysta.

Good job TATA.
