I got a response from GM-sales today regarding my complaints against service quality.

This is the mail i got.

Dear Mr. Justin.
Thanks for the receipt of complaints & complements. I have never seen such a good & valuable TATA customer who is helping us to improve in certain segments especially in
customer satisfaction. Points are noted & i will arrange in better & time bound service at all times.
Tks/Regds

xxxxx,
yyyy Automobiles.
I think they start thinking about what the meaning of ASS is. I feel a little bit better comfort then what i faced issues with them before.

No it works with any TATA authorised dealer[:)].

This is what we always talking about the TASS issues and not the problem with the TATA product any time !!
I didn't knew this before. But all tata service centers are going to do the same thing to customer. So lets try with them atleast, till they respect our complaints.

the change in service centre was mentioned for better quality of workmanship.

it is just to avoid the service centre which knows nothing about aria and in turn do their training at the cost of doing R & D on your vehicle.

The technicians tried their best to rectify the issue. But they failed to find. I got response from tata motors. One service manager whom incharge for south tamilnadu assured me that he is going to send me their technician to fix my matter. The service peoples telling that they found problem at the top corner of right tail pillar which hold the lights.

1. I think that they created some issue when they fix the loud shut sound, when close the tail gate.

or

2. It had some problem before delivery itself. The roof fabric material came out from it position in the tail gate area. I asked them to fix it before delivery. I think they created problem that time itself.

or

3. They fixed the 2nd point without knowing how to fix it. It start rattling when they try to reduce the tail gate shut sound.

The photo was taken before delivery.

Hi Justin,

Firstly, congratulations on your Aria. Sorry, if I am too late on this, I stumbled upon this thread only yesterday.

I am seriously considering purchasing a 7 seater SUV/Cross-over very soon. I have shortlisted Tata Aria Pleasure, XUV 5OO W6 and Renault Duster(with 2 additional seats in the boot - provided as an accessory).

I am inclined towards Aria as I am an existing Tata Customer, using Indica for the last 5 years, but I feel the pricing of Aria is on the higher side.

I had approached the Tata Motor dealer in Chennai - they are offering 1 L cash discount (+ 12K Corporate discount possibly). They also offered another 50K exchange bonus in case I want to swap my Indica, which I am not interested. This makes Aria Expensive than XUV 5OO W6 by a huge difference of about 1 Lakh. XUV 5OO W6 already has the advantage of Cruise Control and Automatic Climate control in its favour apart from other features like Monocoque chassis, Micro Hybrid, Dead pedal, Tyre pressure indicators, etc. The Resale Value is another point in their favour.

After reading your post with the offers, I am wondering, Why am I not offered these? If offered, I would be very much interested as I feel Aria has better quality build and finish, reliable and is more spacious.

Can somebody help me reach to the people at Tata Motors directly? These dealers are not flexible beyond a point.

Thanks in Advance.

My car was billed to my dealer 28th-Dec-2011. So i got this offer. But my RC book marked as 2012 model. I'm not sure how its marked like that.

Before i finalized to purchase aria, i keep my intention ON for storme. But it keeping 5 seated badge again.

Duster is not bigger than yeti. 2 Additional accessory seat will not give comfort and safety as it'll not going to keep AC vents and seat belts. But the test drive report suggest that the second row seat is not comfortable at all and the space for 2nd row is very very limited.

XUV5oo, I shortlisted XUV and aria. My wife felt same as you. But i ruled out to buy XUV, due to
1. Aria is very comfortable in all seats. XUV is comfortable in front seats alone.
2. Better suspension setup in Aria. Lot of owners complaining about the suspension of XUV
3. Ride is better in ARIA
4. Brake is very very good in ARIA. All XUV owners waiting for their brake upgrade after bunch of complaints.
5. There is no design and electrical failure in ARIA. But the list is very huge in XUV. Very few ARIA owners has issues with some parts, its not repeating. But all XUV owners facing lot of repeating issues.
6. There is no rattling sound even after 40K kms of drive in ARIA, But some XUV owners hearing rattling after 10K kms.
7. Fit and finish is superior in ARIA.
8. Really my ARIA Pleasure missing some options what XUV has. The auto wiper, washer, cruise control, hill accent-descent controls, Auto AC, etc. I feel very comfortable with ARIA without this. Bcos ARIA has very quality materials everywhere not as XUV.
9. Aria has better thigh and back support in all seats. But XUV not.

Sorry XUV lovers. It might be my own judgement only based on the resources i heard and read over internet and friends. The things i listed has no personal intention against any manufacturer, as i post it against a query posted in my thread.

I also confused between Aria and XUV and created a thread for the same reasons here http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/forums/automotive-shopper/8385-choose-tata-aria-pleasure-xuv-5oo-w6-fwd.html

AND

I took back my aria back. I'll post more details soon with photo

Thanks for your quick reply Justin. May be the 2011 invoicing has got the attractive pricing for you. I think its well worth it and am happy for you.

You are right in terms of the Duster's additional seat - they are not comparable with XUV / Aria. I still considered it because my need for 7 seater is occasional. Moreover, I will be using the car 70% inside the city and the rest on highway driving. From that perspective a compact SUV is good, so Duster was one of my choices. But the Middle row is not all that bad. Yes, its not as spacious as Aria or XUV again. Now that I have decided to retain my Indica, I might ignore Duster.

My choice has to be between Aria and XUV. I too heard of the niggles in XUV, but I hope the second batch of XUV would have improved quality-wise (especially the electricals your were referring to). Would appreciate if anyone can throw better light on this. Aria is not perfect here.. i read about niggles being present here as well including from your review - may be Aria is slightly better among the two on this count.

We must commend the fact that Aria despite being heavier has a shorter braking distance. Technical specifications like power, torque, Ground clearance, turning radius etc are similar - though XUV being lighter has better power to weight ratio. Both Aria and XUV have some features on their side missing in the other car. For instance, Aria has a Larger boot, Front and back sliding middle row, Useful utility bins in the roof, bigger Glove Box Chiller, Door Ajar warning pointing the exact door that is open etc. I have already listed the prominent features of XUV that are missing in Aria earlier.

The Mahindra Sales rep assures me that they are now providing additional 1 year extended warranty for all customers free of cost.

Still, 1 Lakh price difference with features like Cruise Control and ACC missing in Aria is not acceptable to me. I have personally test driven both Aria and XUV. I dont find XUV as a bad choice at all considering all the factors including drivability. I hope I can get a better price on Aria, else might have to go with XUV.

Sorry, If have deviated you from writing your Ownership experience and taking you back to the purchase decision. Thanks again for the info.

Your opinions are true.
All i can suggest is you check out other tata dealerships to check whether you could get hold of 2011 stock and try to extract the maximum discounts from it. There is an assured 50k discount being advertised by tata.

If you can wait till the end of the year, more improved XUV will come out with all bugs fixed.

I found nothing problematic in my ARIA other than created by service peoples.

Aria giving 1,50,000 kms for 4 years including extended warranty. Can you please let me know the warranty for XUV? i think its 40K kms.

Personally i dont prefer cruise control. But ACC is a real miss. And XUV has hill accent and descent control too. Thts not needed for me. B'cos i know how to handle cars in deep/hills.

Dont buy aria manufactured first half of 2011.

I got better quote from 3 dealers, but out of my city. After confirm my booking, another dealer called me and gave me offer of 3L discount for white prestige 2011 model. But i confirmed my booking with my dealer before i got that offer. You can get better offer than be if you try hard.

Thanks for all your tips Justin. With regards to XUV warranty, they are extending by one year.. with unlimited KMs.

Meanwhile, I have some clarifications on Aria:
  1. Has Tata stopped production of of 4x4 variants of Pleasure and Prestige models? That is what I heard from a dealer in Chennai.
  2. Is the tax calculated by the Govt on the list price or on the discount price? (Aria Pleasure list price is 13.4L, there is a discount of 1L... so will the tax be calculated on 12.4L or still on 13.4L only. )
  3. Which vendor gives the best financing options? what is the interest rate?

With regards to finance it is always best to search for options on your own since by this you reduce an agent /commission in the supply chain. People have also observed that dealers even try to match the offer if you get a better deal from other financers.
