Thanks for all your tips Justin. With regards to XUV warranty, they are extending by one year.. with unlimited KMs.

Meanwhile, I have some clarifications on Aria:
  1. Has Tata stopped production of of 4x4 variants of Pleasure and Prestige models? That is what I heard from a dealer in Chennai.
  2. Is the tax calculated by the Govt on the list price or on the discount price? (Aria Pleasure list price is 13.4L, there is a discount of 1L... so will the tax be calculated on 12.4L or still on 13.4L only. )
  3. Which vendor gives the best financing options? what is the interest rate?
XUV : 40K kms for 3 years, Unlimited for 4 years. Looks very odd.
ARIA : 100K kms for 3 years, 150K kms for 4 years. They are charging 7,500 Rs.

* Now aria pride only comes with 4x4. But some stocks there in other models
* Tax calculation based on the ex-showroom price, not from after discount.
* SBI giving lowest interest rate (11.25% i think), longest repayment years (7 years), they will pay finances including tax + accessories. I took from HDFC, they will give you better rate, if your transactions and all other matters are good (for me 12%). If you can contact directly tata motors, they will give you thru tata-finance with less interest (one executive told me like that, after i signed document with HDFC. I'm not sure its true or not.).

Here is my take on XUV 500 vs Aria. Both are extremely capable highway cruisers. And whichever you will buy you will not repent.[:)]

XUV Advantages:

1. Its cheper, lighter, more fuel efficient and has more features.

2. Slightly better handling since its unibody.

XUV Disadvantages:

1. The same electronic features that look cool on paper actually create a lot of niggles.

2. Fixed second row which results in cramped third row.

3.No boot when all 3 rows are in use.

If you would search "XUV 500 Niggles and solution" you could find a whole lot of material on this subject.

Undoubtedly its the best car that Mahindra has ever built and even if you go for this you would go no wrong.

Aria advantages:

1. Much better ride on broken tarmac than XUV.

2. Longer wheelbase aids in highway stability.

3. The second row can move back and fro which frees up valuable leg space in the last row.Cramped but still better than XUV.

4. Better quality of interiors and better fit and finish.

5. Better NVH control levels than XUV.

6. Decent boot space with all 3 rows up.

Aria disadvantages:

1. Nothing really except price and A.S.S.

Here is a link which will help you choose between these two:Mahindra XUV500 vs Tata Aria 4x2 | Feature | Autocar India

At the end go for the vehicle you love or like more.In the long run you will not repent following your heart.Best of luck in your purchase.

Hope I have helped.[:)]

THE X-OVER
Based on the XUV ownership reviews, the brake and suspension issues not resolved yet. And most electronic systems and door lock has issues, almost in all vehicles. But not that case in ARIA. But i hope that, the XUV complaints will be resolved by next year model.

Leg space is verymuch OK in my aria, if we can move the 2nd row seat full forward. Each row seats has best thigh support as its more broader and wider, so leg space in 3rd row is not at all bad.

I dont feel the price of the Aria is higher after 1L discount on 2012 models. I feel its VFM package compared to its quality.

XUV has lot of features, but it has quality issues. But the seating finish giving a luxury feel than Aria.

I would just add some point to xovers detailed and unbaised list .
After reading numerous ownership reports on xuv and aria thought the Internet forums .

Xuv surprisingly is not as fuel efficient as the aria , owners of aria are repeatedly getting 16+ sometimes more but 99% more then 12 in mix use of city and highways .

And anybody who has to travel on broken roads as their daily ride must wait for the xuv till mahindra sorts out the suspensions . I have driven aria and xuv both on the same broken roads back to back and the ride quality of aria is much much superior it won't be exaggeration from my side that aria ride quality is best in business better then the fortuner too. No sharp jolts are felt inside the cabin by the driver or the passengers.

About style and liking if some 1 wants more new age styling , jazzy look xuv is great but some 1 wants more classy and elegant look inside out aria is a better option . Both have equal street presence .

I'm getting 10 to 13km/ltr in city with 100% AC.
16 to 18.6km/ltr in Highway with 100% AC
10 to 12 km/ltr in Hills with 80% AC

I feel ARIA looks huge in all angles. But XUV looks huge from front. I'm verymuch impressed with the bonnet view from side angle, it look alike rocket. [clap]

In my point of view ARIA is not a failure model. It'll start sell more once the crowd start understand the quality. Normal customers expecting more features with in their budget from tata. But this time tata gave best quality product compared to foreign companies. That's the reason for less takers.

I'm going to buy Euroclean Storm. They are coming to give me a demo. I hope i'll get it today or tomorrow.

I need more advise from experts/advanced-users related to car cleaning materials, better spray wax, etc.

I have some problem to bring photos from my camera. Once i got the pictures out, then i can explain where from the rattling came out.

Thanks Justin, Superbad, Raja and X-Over on your inputs. Sorry for the delay, I was travelling all day yesterday.

I too share the opinion - Aria is better than XUV. However, the pricing is also a key factor. The on road price of Aria is 15.1 L (after 1L discount) and that of XUV without any discount is 14L. I feel the premium sought by Tata/dealers is too high.

I am working with one dealer for better pricing. Not having anything concrete as of now. Will update after I have a clear picture.

Thanks.

Try to get better quote from other city dealerships. I'm currently living in nagercoil. Here there are only white color available in stock. I'm not sure about the warranty claims and all. Lot of forum members telling that, we can claim in any of their dealerships.

Warranty is from Tata Motors and can be claimed from any Authorised Service Center.

This is the case with all car companies.
