Re: TAI Inter Region Meet in South – West India

@Sethu,

I think it should be called as 1 night stay rather than 2 days as for some people it look more. I feel it should be meet everybody lunch, spend half day and night, then spend half day on next day, finish lunch and start back to base camps !!

@Sethu,

Nice work and summary !![clap]

This looks already a huge number if we count the interested members. And a member from Delhi wow !! so it is really justifying the name inter-region meet of TAI !! and who knows it may turn into a TAI All India meet "

Yes Sir, I was really surprised to see this. Am sure some of our friends might get dropped at the same time we will have so many new friends join in since we have still 90 days in our hands.

Still there are some people yet to confirm or at-least to show interest [ I know they all will be silent spectators[;)] of this thread as of now]

I would be the happiest person if this turns out to be All India meet. Still every one from nook and corner of the country is welcome to the meet. As already it was mentioned even if they are not able to drive to the destination they can always come by train/fly to the nearest location [Say, chennai or bangalore] and join us. So it will become True TAI's All India Meet.

That's excellent work man. You are indeed a great manager and event handler mate.
Thank you sir.[embarass]

Re: TAI Inter Region Meet in South – West India

Can some one tell me is Malnad is area or town? if it is an area covered of various towns can some one tell me a town which can be kept as single point. so that it can be easy for us to find the distance.

BTW,

Based on our freinds suggestion I have listed the places. Let me have a look at distance from various places.

Madikeri(Coorg),
Bandipur,
Nagarhole,
Hampi(Although Historical, but a good drive)
Malanad
Thirthahalli
Saklishpur
Bandipur
Masinagudi
Chickmagalur
Kemmanagundi

I went thru some blogs and found Thirthahalli might also be a good place for meeting, good climate etc.

Awww.... who is the good soul from delhi???

I suggested Thirthahalli in the beginning but it seemed a bit far for mumbai guys. So suggested Shimoga. It will balance to some extent.

@Marun

check the list provided by Sethu, it is "Allhyundai cars". Yes Thirthahalli looks to be more central and even Sakleshpur is the same. I request the KA members are who has already travelled to these places can participate in the discussion as Sethu is really putting lot of effort to compile these things and with more accurate info of roads, travelling time and stay facilities and cost of stay will make his life easy and will really lead to a fruitful discussion.

Malnad is a region where it covers the western ghats. The districts which come under these are:
Shimoga
Chickmagalur
and some more

Like i said before Chickmagalur is better to set up a meet point because that is the only place where you have all the amenities, hotels, and places around could be reached without much of travelling.It is also necessary to take care if we decide to have meet with our families.

BTW,

Based on our freinds suggestion I have listed the places. Let me have a look at distance from various places.

Madikeri(Coorg),
Ok good place to meet too.
Bandipur,
You have to book everything in advance and place is a bit expensive, if people don't mind, then no issues, but let us have everyone's opinion moreover this place would be easy to TN people whereas for Mumbai and other people should halt at Bangalore once.
Nagarhole,
Same as Bandipur but located in Madikeri highway, Coorg feels better.
Hampi(Although Historical, but a good drive)
Too far from TN and Bangalore.
Masinagudi
can be covered if visiting Bandipur, but its a village though
Chickmagalur
Kemmanagundi
Kemmanagundi is near Chichmagalur

Re: TAI Inter Region Meet in South – West India

@Vishwas, Thank you very much for your input. Based on all info about destinations I just prepared a Distance chart which might tell us a idea visually about different destinations. I took Chennai and Mumbai being that as extreme ends.

Two clarification on this.

Is hampi is in wetern ghats?
I think Masinagudi is in TN

Re: TAI Inter Region Meet in South – West India

@Vishwas

Thank you for your inputs in time and I wish you guide us time to time for this meet. How about sakleshpur place wise and distance wise from Mumbai,Chennai,Bangalore. How about Hampi, which looks to be in a fair distance from Chennai,Mumbai. But for this calculations of distances efforts will become valid, when MH members comment and confirm for this. Any such good places are around Shimoga or Hasan, how about places near Mysore

Re: TAI Inter Region Meet in South – West India

Till date we have not got much comments/confirmation or shows interest in this except 3. I wish we have more people from Mumbai/Pune belt. Friends from west, if you feel driving will be pain, pls join us in Bangalore. You can come by train/flight till Bangalore. Hope other friends from Bangalore or Chennai will be willing to share the ride.

As Mr. gurrala said, all these estimation will be meaningful and valid only when we have some friends from Mumbai/Pune belt also

Masinagudi is in tamilnadu and its in the way from ooty to mysore.
That road would be steep with more number of hairpin bend say 36. Even the shortest road from ooty to mysore very scenic drive.
I missed that place.
Never Mind: Road to Ooty - Story of 36 hair pin bends

Good contribution Raj. How about stay and food over there. It might be silly question, but to make it clear for all am asking this. Jog falls is just a treat to your eyes or like other falls [Kutralam, Hogenagal ] you can enjoy the falls also [Oops, I can see lot of faces staring/smiling at me. Plsssssss] [:)]

BTW, we will wait for other's comments also. Distance wise seems to be equal for both.
