Re: Suggest a New Android Phone Around 15k

Well, JB certainly appears more fluidic because of the nature of transitions that are inherent to it. Also, I found that the choice of launcher makes a difference. But it certainly is not as responsive as GB. This I am saying in terms of time taken to open simple things such as a message or even dialler. The window opens or fades in smoothly but doesn't populate for sometime. I don't think Flashing will help because I have faced the same problem with JB based custom ROMS that I have installed in the past. Thereafter, I flashed back the original Samsung firmware and then upgraded to JB.

As you say ( and I have also suspected), it could be one of the apps or widgets that is draining away all the resources. Will try and identify it and see if that helps. Why I am not happy with the responsiveness is that even games like Temple Run, which used to run fine on GB firmware, freeze up pretty frequently on JB. Of course, pretty frequently here means once in 10 or 15 times, which is bad enough.

Anyway, the aim of the post was not to deter RK from Galaxy S Advance but only put forth the 'Evil' [evil] side of the phone!!
Please dont defame this wonderful phone,
JB is very lite compared to GB please update JB from service center directly and check. same thing happened with SOLA after JB updates directly from WIFI but later we serviced it from Sony and now it is super cool

Yes, I will wait and see till this month end and final my decision in 1st week of march and buy the phone whichever is available that time.

@Ranger, No man he is not defaming, he is a live user of the model and he writes his experience and that is what I wanted, the real time experiences. On paper all the configs and buy looks all the phones are great, but when you start using them, you will find real stuff out of it. So it is fair enough to learn from him about S advanced.

So my list is still on with S advanced, S duos, (620) at the moment and it may change by 1st week of march [confused]

I am not really delebarate for a new phone so badly, but I need a new one as quickly as possible, so I will wait and take my own decision in the 1st week of march'13

Easy, buddy! I am not defaming any phone. I am just telling what I have experienced.... its not some hearsay about some friend's phone. I own it and am experiencing it every day.
Also, I am not stopping anyone from buying this "Wonderful" phone. Please go ahead and buy...your money, your choice. My last post too in this thread!!!

OK RK no issues, FBW sorry for mistaking your words, infact I suggested you to go for service center or rectify it before saying JB is bad for S advance, since I personally updated it ti JB and installed loads of APPS and no problem till date.
so I advised this

@RK - Last post not because of this .....
Please dont defame this wonderful phone,
....but because of this [lol]
Seems by the time the phone is actually bought, atleast the page count for this thread would reach 15k if not the phone [lol]
Eagerly awaiting first week of March!!!

No issues at all, friend. Actually, as I said earlier, I am going to try and identify the rogue app(s). If it doesn't work out, I will try and get back to GB. Frankly, I don't want to spend any money or time on it taking it to a service center when I can 'graciously' accept this as a god-sent opportunity to justify an upgrade!!

Hmmm S advance is launched on may 2012 that means your phone no way crossed 1 year, your service must be free.

Actually, my warranty is void because of rooting. Although I am back to the original Samsung firmware, my binary counter is already up to 7 or 8. This is not to say that the situation is unrecoverable. There are ways and means or resetting the Binary Counter. [glasses]Thanks, I'll certainly give it a try!

Normal software update will unroot the phone and those inexperienced sc guys cant even tell if it is rooted or not[:D] so don't worry about warranty.
So what's this binary counter ?

Yes, the phone is un-rooted now with the installation of original firmware. That's where Binary counter comes in. All newer Samsung devices (I think all after Samsung Galaxy S) have a counter which increases by one each time you flash a custom ROM. And the count doesn't reset when you get the original firmware back. Its explicitly put there by Samsung to detect installation of Custom ROMS.

There are, of course, ways of resetting this counter back to zero too. Its Spy Vs Spy[gun]!!

Re: Suggest a New Android Phone Around 15k

Friends,

Sorry for making you irritated with this thread which ran into so many pages. Yes I am buying the phone with my hard earned money, and I really look for best of the lot and VFM for my requirements criteria. So my questions and wait may irritate few, but I am helpless as I will finalise when I am convinced with one. So, if possible post suggestions, but please do not try to laugh at the thread or expect that it will run into thousands of pages. Yes all these 30+ pages are filled with lot of useful information on the forum and makes some bodies life easy in future with this info.

Yes I will wait as it is my hard earned money and not gifted by any body and not from my parents, so I am very cautious while I buy something and I don't think it is bad !! so please respect the concern of the members and Yes I will not change this phone for next two years until unless, it gets damaged or some serious need arises and may be I do not look for upgrades too[:)]

And if you do not like this thread, then I will request mods to close it !!

problem is you stereotyping those users.

An example of the acquaintance i know.
He bought an second hand S2 for 14k from a friend.
He used it for a month and then sold it in the open market for 17k.

With that 17k he bid on ebay for those imported phones from ebay.
He bought one for less than 7k(pantech burst) used it for a month and then sold it for 12k on ebay india.
Likewise he has been doing that for the last two years and he has the taste of best of both worlds.
The latest and best mobiles and he still has money to spare after selling those phones.
Now if you are going to question their intelligence, you inturn might turn into a laughing stock.
