Re: Suggest a New Android Phone Around 15k

@Ranger

Just go thru' the user reviews in this link, ofcourse not only in this but else where too, I found a common problem with S duos is quick battery discharge which will annoy me too(all ready breaking my head with my present phone) and I really don't a duos. So what do you suggest

Samsung Galaxy S Duos User Reviews
If you are going to use mobile data via edge/GPRS your battery will die with in 7 to 8 hours max, In this case all Android and other OS phones has same behaviour too. I suggest you to use EDGE only when required.

BUT WITH WIFI you dont have such issues, if you use WIFI you can expect longer battery per recharge, it can serve you a day(12hr) easily.

While travelling when you dont have port to recharge I suggest you to limit your data usage.

My Neo V carries 1500mAMP battery, I tested the battery life without data connection and normal usage I got total 50 hr life,
With data(edge) and continues browsing it last only for max 7hrs.
with data(edge) when requred it serves you 10 to 12 hr with noproblem

S duos also carries similar batttery as Neo V but display is bigger still I expect similar battery life, Even My friend is very happy for that.

Summary: It depends on you! by looking at your requirement and usage you will be happy with battery life of DUOS I'm 100% sure. [:)]
new JB carries battery saving modes it may help you too.

My wife have Neo V battery life is pretty good if data transfer (internet) is disabled. She switches it ON only when required.

Plus I have installed the MOD provided on the link below. This saves a lot of click to go inside the settings. All settings are provided on home screen drop down slide bar. Plus there is button to adjust brightness there, where if battery is getting low, she adjust the brightness to low and battery have some more life to go then. [clap]

Yes in samsung all switches are present in notification drop down window only, you no need to go deep[clap]

BTW where is the link brother?

I would like to recommend the Sony Xperia Sola which i personally own.It has a dual core 1 Ghz Processor,512 MB RAM 5.0 MP cam with led flash Gingerbread 2.3 out of the box with upgrade to ICS.In terms of looks it is very sleek and good to hold. You should get this currently around 13 to 14K.
Yes this phone got finest Processor chipset in the market(NOVA THOR from STE) and mili 400 GPU(from ARM itself), very light and very smooth to use. My friend bought this 6 months ago and he is very happy with this

I suggest you to go for Samsung only since S duos is the latest and budget phone you have with good brand/service.

EDGE is highend versionof GPRS only it makes your mobile internet experience better than GPRS.

I have plenty of phones to suggest if you can stretch your budget(both samsung and sony) but I understand your usage and so suggested you S duos.

for dual core and under 14k you have XPERIA U but you may feel 4 GB storage is not enough so sDUOS IS FINE

ONE GOOD NEWS SDUOS PRICE IS DROPPED TO 12900 plus special offers check on flipkart hurry

that app is for android. your bada software is not compatable with it.

wrt data -
you are currently using gprs with your vintage mobile.
edge is normal 2x , for normal usage its decent and cheap also.
and 3g you must know
4g is also launched in certain cities.

Vijay, how do I upgrade it ?? can you tell me please[:)]
Install sammy kies on your laptop/desktop and attatch your handset with usb port, register with samsumg online and take the backup of your contacts, msgs and save it on your memory storage or desktop and update your handset, else go to your nearest samsung ASS,they would update your handset with latest upgrade available with your handset with some nominal charges.

Re: Suggest a New Android Phone Around 15k

@Vijay,
Yeah I checked with them too and they said it can't be upgradable and if you do not like throw it in dust bin or gift it to some body[lol]

@Dharmesh, Yes, there is not need for me to upgrade this, but was just trying to see, if I can do something with it to save battery life

My close friend bought a Samsung Galaxy grand and he says it is mind blowing as he was also using some kind of BB vintage model like me all these days and not used to this Android mobile world.[lol] Only problem he says that battery is getting drained pretty fast, then I told him that android applications will run on the back ground always and to find out switch them off. So can you people suggest anything to have good battery life on that mobile

Re: Suggest a New Android Phone Around 15k

Friends,

We start cribbing on the battery life of XYZ phone as soon as we purchase it. The cribbing is way more in case of Android devices. I fully agree that Android deviced drain battery faster as compared to others due to background apps. But we are forgetting a very very important fact here. Most modern day devices be them phones, tablets, PNDs etc. have a lithium polymer battery. Now, this battery performs it's best when proper charge-discharge cycles are followed. Always charge your device fully and then allow it to discharge as much as possible. This helps the battery to attain it's performance and elongates it's life too. After considerable cycles you'll see a significant improvement in the battery life of your device.

Buddy main reason for battery problem is display and Edge, anyways you have plenty of task killer applications in market example Advanced task killer in which you can set the level of killing and freq, also you can set options such as whenever your display go to sleep it will kill unwanted apps.

Also in ICS and JB you have option in settings called developer option where you can limit the backgroud process to Zero or One or 2 likewise
