@dharmesh, does your comment applies to following fact,?
The girls height is 4f and 6 inches now and is expected to grow by 6 inches withthin a year ,
Whatever may be the fact, I personally think rear seats are safer as compared to front seats. Ofcourse seat belts need to be worn wherever you seat in car. [;)]

Tornado, this should help you...

I feel at this height she should be in the back seat, Probably she can sit in the front seat next year when she is close to 5feet.

Oh !! what is this friends, you have turned entire thread for buying some "Bond car" [lol]

Safety is must, but think about it in a reasonable way I hope a girl is travelling in the car and not a infant !! Also look at the other things mentioned by the thread starter

According to him low GC will be a problem, then Fabia and Figo are ruled out, so the suggestion will be around Vista or Punto when we think of VFM !!

My request to members: Please do not think once again that I am not giving importance for safety, but given the conditions and out of the models available in the market I was trying to select something which is reasonably good with safety aspects

Gurrala74, I think Tornado approach is just fine, hope everyone does this before blindly get in to a new car!

When I bought my Swift Zxi, I found lot of people buying lowest version and then adding the spoilers, skirts, after market fog lights, audio video equipts, spending more that what I spent but not realizing that they don't have airbags(which is must in western countries), ABS. When people are so ignorant they definitely don't wear the seat belts.

Yes, If I can get a Bond car in my budget why not [;)]

Please read my post once again, I never said Tornado is wrong with his thread and with his approach, but my comment was for our fellow members who are trying to measure the distance with a tape that where girl is going to sit and how far she is from left and right and what is the possibility of an accident, either it is from front or rear and how safe she is and where exactly she should sit to avoid wounds and all. One cannot be so precise I feel [:)] It looks bit scary to me to ride in my present car, nothing more to it

@Gurrala: All the discussion related to which is the safe seat for a person started from the question asked by Tornado.

Now, car with rear air bags being out of budget, Is it ok for the girl to seat on front seat with booster seat.for safty (airbags) purpose?

Tornado this link helps in giving you a good pictorial view :-

Btw i missed adding since your friend is so concerned for safety I would also recommend a gps tracker with a sim card, which can give updates on the location of the car/child(depending on where its kept). You can also set a perimeter , so if the device goes outside the perimeter it will start sending out sms to a predefined mobile number.

If rear seat airbag equipped car is chosen , which is the ideal side for her to sit on , considering the Indian condition eg.RHD?
Now , I feel , used i20 (rear airbags) followed by discounted punto (front airbags) should be on the priority list. Please suggest more cars in case, if we do not get both of above.

Hi bharat at your request, as others may feel odd.

Conditions considered:

1. ground clearance
2. safety(as it comes first than money)
3. minimum economy
4. car planned for 7years.
5. hatchback
6. minimum re-sale also considered

New model Punto emmotion with airbags (2012 or 2013) as i consider this as the safest hatch back as per my experience.

Please check that the seat belt in rear comes with an adjuster as there in front seats, before going for a booster seat.

I would suggest a booster seat with seat belt, the child seated at the left rear seat, driven by an experienced well behaved preferably by one well known to the family.

Easy for me at this stage as every points discussed by our fellow mates.

@ alex , my friend is likely to purchase v2 now, I am against it and want him to go for ev2 or TDI vista or qjd , as he is not getting enough discount on punto emotion, and safty features have taken a back seat now. Please opine to help us as the car would be chauffeur driven most of the time.
