@IR, Does your post is applicable to a 9 year old (now) too on safty issue especially airbags? Because it is important for me to convince him on it.I have raised safty issue so that he buys a better car which can be nearer to his wife's expectations(Rapid).

He is also instrumental in getting cameras fitted in car so that he can view in-car and outside happening s.He has asked for it hundred time s , so please guide me.

Also add two words to the title of this thread ' daughter's safty'

Sitting in rear is off course more recommended for kids, and they can use a booster seat or similar to make sure seat belts are best positioned.

I can understand his paranoia but more than a camera a speed limiter might help - also I would hire one of the safest driver in the world for this job

i20 has 6 airbags , abs , and has 5* EuroNCAP safety rating .

Is it useless if she uses the front seat with booster seat so as to avail benefit of availability of SRS airbag in case of accident ?
As now we are thinking of punto which doesn't come with rear airbags.
Also , need to know about availability of rear airbags in 2011 ,2010 models of punto,as they are available with heavy discount.

Punto dosent come with rear airbags afaik . I think i2o is only hatchback which comes with 6 airbags .

Punto , Chevy sail , beat , swift , ford figo , vista all come with abs and airbags in their top of the line models but only front airbags .

I heard micRa has good discount but it only comes with airbags only no abs .

If safety is the concern then no doubt it got to be European.Considering the family being skoda affectionado, Fabia is the only bet.

The daily route is a state highway and full of the pot holes most of the time, now four lane widening work has begun since last week and will take atleast four years to complete, hence will be full of diversions.

When Safety is priority then is should be either Punto, Polo or Fabia. All have strong build and heavy metal.

I would recommend Punto, reason being I have first hand experience of the same. And if you have any doubt about the safety in Punto, then I would recommend you to have a look at following post in ownership thread. Look at the amount of damage to both cars in accident.

You know in UK, the babies with or without booster seats are never allowed on front seats, even if the car have airbags. It is much safer on rear seats. In case of accident even when aribags have deployed, the front windshield glass may also cause huge injuries. This is my own experience, if we meet some time, you can examine my face and you will be able to see the stitches mark on my face because of the accident that took place in 1991-1992. I was seating on co drive seat and during impact front windshield was crushed and all glass bits were on my entire face.

Totally agree with you, it's all over the developed countries front seats with airbags are forbidden for children, My children never sat in the front row. Same habit I continue here in India, Front seats are dangerous whether you have airbags or not. Airbags are effective only when seat belts are worn correctly(or fits you properly). For children usually the seat belts don't fit.
I think in this case his daughter should sit in the back seat with booster and the seat belts worn.
Regarding the curtain air bags in the back, I don't this that is going to give any major protection as they might protect in the case of rollovers etc(For which there can not be proper protection can be offered any way) I think back seats are very safe provided you wear the seat belts.
