Re: Sporty Yet Elegant: My Candy White Volkswagen Polo TDI

Was away from my Polo for a good 10 days as i had gone to Bombay for some work as well as to meet up with college friends. Came back today morning and on the way back from the airport itself was smilingly told by my sis, "Sorry I scratched your car." And i was like "Thank You for such a warm welcome!!"[anger]
Her car was away for service and she had to use mine for a day when i was away. But luckily its just a small one, can go un-noticed too, but is like a little eye sore to me. Suggest what best can be done?

Left side front bumper got scratched by a two-wheeler

Re: Sporty Yet Elegant: My Candy White Volkswagen Polo TDI

compared to my car, its actually not much. My car has been scratched by dad, mom, jeeju, 2 bros too. I hate to see it! Thinking of giving for touch up after some more scratches.
If you are so annoyed, then the only option is to touch up. Or did you try waxing it? It works at times depending on the scratch!
If you are going for touch-up. Then ask them for the remaining paint so that you can touch up your car whenever you want from home! :stupid:

Same is in my house. Right from Dad, sis and two of my cousins keep using each other's cars and even the Polo is driven by almost everyone, but luckily everyone handles this one with extra care as they know how much I love my Polo.
Should i take it to VW service centre for this or do i get the touch-up done from outside itself? Don't really know if waxing would help, but will try.

Get a rubbing compound, it should the job very well. Even then if scratches do not disappear, touch up paint may be required.
Thanks Rightnow. Will try the method you told. Rubbing compound might just make it less prominent and in that case i don't think touch up will be needed. Should i be going to VW guys for this or get it done from the local auto market itself?

Got the scratch removed today itself. Used some rubbing compound and the light scratch along the crease of the left side front bumper got totally removed. The one above has also lightened up but still can be seen, but are no more those big eye sores when you look at the car. I think i can live with this little one.

Polo needs a wash inside out badly specially inside those wheel arches, lots of mud has been stuck. Planning to get the interiors polished too. Will be taking the car tomorrow to the same Steam wash place where i got it all cleaned up a couple of months back.

Thanks bbmurthy for those kind words and Congrats for your new Polo. So which variant did you get and which color? How about an ownership thread of your Polo too?

Regarding the phone transmission software - Its available on my Nokia N8. It came in-built in the phone. Procedure for that is - set a radio transmission frequency on your phone through the app which you want to transmit and select the same frequency on your car's head unit .
Example if i set the frequency on 90.5 FM on my phone for transmission then i have to chose the same frequency on the car's head unit (90.5) and select my phone's playlist and can listen to it from the car's speakers. Ideally a frequency on which already a station does not exist is chosen so that the phone's radio transmission signals are taken up smoothly. Like in Chandigarh, we have 92.7 FM , 94.3FM, 103.1 FM, 105.6FM . Instead of these frequencies, you can chose any frequency on both your phone and the car's head unit and play songs from your phone through this software. Although the quality of sound through this radio transmission is no where near what you get through USB or CD, but still pretty decent.
Have been using Blackberry for last few months now, and this app is not available on BB. So my Nokia N8 is just kept in the car most of the times for this purpose.

I have got updated version (with black head lamps and all) of polo TDI highline in flash red color...I could write a ownership thread but want to ride for few more kms and then do as I am completely new to car driving, so as of now all I can say that I am enjoying like anything riding my polo.[:D]

that option in your phone seems to be a nice one. let me check whether i have it or not in my nokia 5235..but I dont think it is having.[roll]

Wow! Congrats. Polo looks the best in Flash Red. Totally agree with you. Get along with the car for now and spend some time with your Polo. I'm sure you'll love each and every moment spent with her. How about an exterior pic of your red beauty as a teaser for now and then we can all eagerly wait for the ownership thread.[;)]
One question - Doesn't the new refreshed Polo come with Aux-in? Because when i got my car in April, i remember that Comfortline and Highline variants had an Aux input available in the centre console along the cup holder region.

Same here as bbmurthy301

I got Silver Polo Highline Petrol. With smoked headlamps, it looks very different. I am planning to install GTI tail lights which will complete the look. I have driven just 100 kms on it. Still using the complimentary 20lt petrol.

Hey bbmurthy, since you have highline model, there is a MDI port inside glove box which you must be aware. Through this port you can play via your mobile by plugging a aux to MDI cable, and I am sure the sound quality will be great.

See this thread for various options through this MDI port: http://www.theautomotiveindia.com/f...volkswagen-polo-1-2-2012-refresh-model-5.html

Congrats sanke1 for your new Polo. The smoked headlamps and the new set of alloy wheels give the Polo a more sporty and meaner look. I'm glad the Polo family on TAI is expanding really fast. GTI tail lights would look stunning on your machine. So have you ordered for them already?

Yes even i saw this MDI port in a friends Vento Highline, but have they removed the Aux - in switch which was present in the earlier 2012 Polo models?

This Aux port is not provided in newer models, instead the MDI port is provided.
