Woman says Galaxy Note 9 burst into flames inside her purse

Samsung’s highly touted and supposedly fireproof Galaxy Note 9 cellphone spontaneously combusted inside a Long Island woman’s purse, she charges in a lawsuit.

Just after midnight Sept. 3, Chung was in the elevator of a Bayside building when her brand new phone “became extremely hot,” according to court papers.

She stopped using the phone and put it in her bag. Suddenly, “she heard a whistling and screeching sound, and she noticed thick smoke” pouring from her purse, she alleges.

Chung put the bag on the elevator floor and tried to empty it, burning her fingers as she grabbed the smoking Samsung, the suit says.

Trapped alone in the lift and “extremely panicked,” Chung dropped the phone and started smashing elevator buttons, the thick smoke making it hard to see.

Reaching the lobby, she kicked the sizzling phone out of the elevator.

The mobile didn’t stop burning until a good Samaritan grabbed it with a cloth and plunked it into a bucket of water, Chung claims in the Queens Supreme Court lawsuit.

The fire left her unable to contact clients and ruined everything in her bag, claims Chung, who called the experience “traumatic.”

Mi A1 smartphone claimed to burst in flames; Xiaomi's response awaited

A Xiaomi Mi A1 unit is said to have burst into flames. A MIUI forum member reported about the incident on his friend’s behalf claiming that his Mi A1 caught fire while charging overnight. The complainant noted that the phone was kept for charging before going to sleep, which he has been doing since long.

India’s cheapest mobile phone explodes: burns 60-year-old man to death

A 60-year-old man, Kishore Singh who hails from a village called Netavalgarh Pachhli in Chittagong has died as a result of the explosion of his super-cheap Jio phone.

According to his wife, Kishore Singh, forgot to take his Jio phone out of his pocket when he slept, at 2:30 in the morning. She is as usual busy in doing morning chores she suddenly heard a loud noise and rushed to the spot where he was already on fire and was severely burned. He was rushed to the hospital where the doctor pronounced him dead on arrival.

Galaxy S10 5G explodes in South Korea, Samsung claims not their fault

The owner said that his phone exploded without any reasons at all. The device was placed on a table when smoke engulfs it, said Lee, the owner of burned Galaxy S10 5G. The severe burns with the cracked display on both the front and back side of the device can be seen in the attached photo.

Samsung denies any reimbursements, as the company believes the damage is done due to external impact. After carefully inspecting the Galaxy S10 damage, Samsung refused to reimburse the smartphone which costs 1.39 million won (~$1226).

Cell phone blast kills minor in Habiganj

The boy died from serious burn injuries to his chest

A minor died of mobile explosion in Bahubal upazila of Habiganj around 2pm on Wednesday.
The deceased Saju Mia, 12, died from serious burn injuries to his chest when his mobile phone exploded in his shirt pocket. He was the son of Jalal Mia and a resident of Chakgaon village.
According to family members, Saju had connected his cell phone to a charger and fell asleep with it in his shirt pocket. The phone being connected to the charger for a prolonged period of time exploded and burnt the left side of his chest. Family members are shocked and devastated at the sudden death of the teenage boy.

Today I got to Attest what I have been preaching since ages.
This is Xolo Q3000.

It was my Primary phone a few years ago. Since last 2 years, It has been moved to Security Cam CCTV duty. The Humble Phone has been recording HD video day in, Day out. 24 hours on SD cars using a Dashcam app. I Am really impressed how the Memory and CPU have coped with this super heavy 24/7 load.

Yesterday, My Eye caught something amiss. The phone was swollen. It was still happily recording videos but battery was puffed up.
But the best thing was the Phone having an older (In my view Superior) design that has removable battery and back panel access. The Battery simply pushed open the rear panel. Now It was only 2 sec job to install another battery (Which I already had brought with the Phone) and Phone is ready and roaring Again. Its nice to see hardware from roughly 2014 performing well till date, Including original batteries.

Coming to swollen battery,
DId the Phone Explode? No
Did The phone Catch fire? No.
DId the battery overheat? No.

Simple open panel design allows Pressure and heat to escape as needed.
Unfortunately, Companies like apple taught us that Batteries should be glued shut with the phone. And Made as difficult as possible to replace. Also having no expanding space means that a modern phone with sealed battery might have exploded in above circumstances. All the other brands have followed suit.

Five-year-old OnePlus One catches fire in India, OnePlus already investigating

According to the story, the dude had switched off the smartphone and kept it close by when he went to bed. Around 3:15 am in the morning, he was jolted out of his sleep by “suffocating and nauseating” fumes. The victim also claimed the phone was not plugged to charge when the incident happened. Thankfully, he was able to douse the flame with water before it could escalate or even result in an explosion.

11-Year-Old's iPhone 6 Catches Fire in the US: Report

An Apple iPhone 6 owned by an 11-year-old girl from California caught fire and burned holes in her blanket once she threw the device on it, the media has reported.

"I was sitting down, and I had my phone in my hand and then I saw sparks flying everywhere and I just threw it on a blanket. I was right here on the bed and the phone managed to burn through this blanket and make these holes," the girl was quoted as saying by 9to5Mac on Saturday.

Girl, 14, killed in her sleep ‘by exploding phone’ after going to bed listening to music while device was charging

A SCHOOLGIRL was killed in her sleep after her charging smartphone exploded on her pillow as she slept, according to reports.

Alua Asetkyzy Abzalbek, 14, went to bed listening to music at her village home in Bastobe, Kazakhstan.
The next morning, Alua was found dead after the phone’s battery is said to have exploded close to her head.

Police confirmed that her device had been plugged in to a power socket at the time.

She is believed to have suffered severe head injuries as a result of the blast, and died on the spot.

A month-old Redmi Note 7S goes up in flames but Xiaomi India won’t accept liability

Indian citizen, Chavhan Ishwar has told the story of how his Redmi Note 7S smartphone went up in flames. The incident left the phone permanently damaged with the battery area charred. Thankfully, no one was injured but more worrisome is the response the victim claimed to have got from Xiaomi India’s customer care personnel.

The Indian claimed to have scooped up the device from Flipkart on October 1st and it was delivered three days later. The user claimed the phone only lasted about a month as the drama began on November 2. Mr Ishwar had left the phone on the desk when he noticed smoke emanating from the phone and accompanied by a smell of burning plastic. Indeed, the phone gently went up in flames due to what Xiaomi says is a battery defect (the phone was reportedly lodged at a Xiaomi Authorized service centre in Thane).

According to the report, the phone was kept on a quilt with the father using it to play a video. The father had fallen asleep when he was awoken by the smell of something burning. He then noticed the smartphone was in flame. However, no further damage was done except for a charred device, burns to the quilt and a minor burn to Song’s father while trying to put out the flame. The picture provided by Song Yujie of the mobile phone after the fire showed that the entire mobile phone was broken down into several black parts after burning.

Redmi Note 6 Pro catches fire at a service center in Gujarat; Xiaomi plans to investigate

Xiaomi Redmi Note 6 Pro has been found to catch fire at a service center in Gujarat. The incident reportedly occurred when the technician was trying to remove the back panel of the smartphone. It was first reported by Khabar Gujarat, which notes that the incident happened at Dhriti Mobiles. Kishan, the technician at the store, was repairing the Redmi Note 6 Pro when smoke started coming out of the back panel of the device.

The unit reportedly then caught fire and the technician had to throw it off the counter to avoid further damage. The media report says that no one was hurt in this incident. However, the Redmi Note 6 Pro unit got damaged completely. The owner of the device later questioned the safety of Xiaomi‘s devices. This is not the first time that a smartphone has caught on fire. It is also not the first Xiaomi smartphone to have caught on fire.
