Now, with the official beef ban in some states, and unofficial forced beef ban in a few other states, the scenario would soon change and we could see plenty of them let loose across the country.
So, definitely, these bans were brought into place to go back to an era of non-polluting mode of transportation system.
Effective midnight, August 31/September 1, 2015, petrol will be slashed by Rs 2 per litre whereas diesel prices will be reduced by Rs 0.50 per litre. With the new prices in effect, a litre of petrol in Delhi will cost Rs 61.20 while the diesel will cost Rs 44.45 per litre.
Now this can be called an actual cut.Petrol prices which are higher than diesel are cut more than that of Diesel.Still we had not yet come to the accepted difference of 10 Rs per liter. The price difference is almost 17 Rs. I am also wondering, none of the bus companies had reduced their ticket prices after so much of diesel price cut !In Bangalore a 4 Km bus trip in BMTC (non AC,basic standard bus) still costs Rs 19. Is there any point in subsidizing diesel? Petrol Price Cut by Rs 2/Litre, Diesel by 50 Paise/Litre - NDTVProfit.com

The large and luxury SUVs are propelled by diesel but they pay the same price along with vehicles used for public transport.
Bihar elections are over, Public are used Petrol at 65 and Diesel at 50. This has become an easy target for Centre and states to Target the Massive Fiscal Deficits due to Past mismanagement.
Remember States like Kerala, Delhi, Telegnana have had major increases in State Vat.
"to mop up additional revenue to meet budgetary targets." What were they smoking when they were preparing the budget? India is the only country who is in the growth stage now and is enjoying the benefit of reduced crude oil. But,that doesn't mean that people have to pay the same 65 Rs per litre or 1 dollar a litre all time?
By increasing the rate of petrol more than that of diesel,in effect, government is actually wrecking its own agenda of pacifying the differences of both fuels. Now if government is going to make all the deficit clear using the petroleum products, will they ever put emphasize on alternate energy sources?
Total excise on petrol is ₹19.06 per litre and on diesel is ₹10.66 per litre. Then there are state and central taxes, and cess and what not. Govt. wants to run the country on fuel.
