Renault will soon be launching the Kwid hatchback in India.
This new entry-level hatchback will be exported to multiple international markets and the Chennai plant will act as a global export hub. Renault claims that the Kwid will be a game changer in the segment. Renault targets to achieve 5% market share with the introduction of the Kwid in India.
The Kwid will measure 3,679mm x 1,579mm x 1,471mm (LxWxH) and have a wheelbase of 2,422mm. This entry-level hatchback will gets a healthy ground clearance of 180mm. For those who like to carry that little bit extra, the Kwid gets 300 litres boot space with rear seats up & 1,115 litres boot space with rear seats folded.
Inside the Kwid will get best-in-class knee room of 116mm, interior storage of 24.25 litres, front shoulder room of 1,250mm, & rear shoulder room of 1,231mm.
The Kwid is based on the new CMF-A platform which will spawn cars within 3.4 – 4 metres in length.
Powering the Kwid will be a 799cc, 3-cylinder petrol motor producing 54 PS & 72 Nm with a claimed fuel efficiency of 25.17 kmpl. Engine will be matched to a 5-speed manual gearbox. AMT will be introduced later. Power to weight ratio is rated at 85 PS to a tonne since the car has a very light kerb weight of 660 kg.
7″ touchscreen infotainment with bluetooth & navigation on the inside will be an unmatched feature.
The Kwid will come with 6 accessory packs: Luxury Pack, Intense Chrome, Essential Pack, Basic Pack, Outdoor Pack, Smart Chrome and get 5 body colours – Red, white, grey, silver, bronze.
Renault will offer 2 years / 50,000 km warranty as standard on the Kwid.
Pricing will be in the range of Rs. 3 – 4 lakh (ex-showroom)
More than 80% of the Kwid was developed by Indians & it boats 98% localisation.
